I am on a Mac, and I am not sure whether this issue affects only Mac clients (or just mine?), but in-game character portraits appear to be vertically compressed to me. They do not look the same as portraits generated through capture (which look normal).
I captured a portrait of my character through character information window in the game. Then I took a screenshot of the in-game portrait and in-game image is about 30 pixels shorter vertically. Portraits generated through capture function are perfectly square images of 1024x1024 pixels. When I open a portrait in the client, however, and take a screenshot of it, it is about 30 pixels shorter in the vertical plane than horizontal (- 5 px perhaps due to manual crop). This means it is vertically compressed. Not by all that much (it is circa 3.7%), but to me, the result is very obvious.
Here are some screenshots I took comparing the two (image named ‘capture’ is the one captured from character info window. Image named ‘client’ is the one I screenshoted from the client). These are visibly different images!
There is no horizontal compression:
My EVE client resolution matches my screen resolution (2880x1880). I am using the client in full screen mode.
I remember portraits not having this glitch just a couple of months ago. I haven’t been around much during the summer, and now that I got on and went to generate a new portrait for my character I noticed this anomaly.
If this is just my computer issue, I hope somebody can explain it to me how…
