It does, but it doesn’t have to go in a way that the active mining Orca also goes.
Okay - remove “Mine and Repeat”.
How about no.
We don’t fix something by making it utterly tedious. That is akin to removing refire on weapons. That’s a step 20 years back in game design making someone push a pointless key.
Okay then. No drones at all.
Well done recreating the initial problem of AFK boosting Orca’s being relegated to alts only.
Because it is now a pointless ship to put someone in as an actual player.
I find it’s really easy to whine and shoot down ideas. Not so easy to come up with ideas.
Then perhaps don’t act like you have the instant solution, and you won’t get your ideas punctured so easily.
Says the guy with no ideas.
Saying “noooo I don’t like your idea” isn’t ‘puncturing’ either.
Also the Orca is currently pointless to put a player in… unless they’re AFK mining.
What’s your idea?
I still don’t see how the Orca is an AFK mining ship. If you are basing your argument on the fact that it mines into a large or hold, then it only holds true if you can find asteroids large enough to mine for whatever time period you consider AFK mining. How long are we allowed to look away from the screen before we are considered AFK?
Beyond the ideas in my first post, if we return to your argument that it is an AFK miner because it unloads ore into a large ore hold, then why not change it so it unloads into the cargo hold. The cargo hold is on the scale of a Mackinaw and would be no more AFK than an exhumer.
There’s rocks at moons that contain 15,000 units. AFK confirmed.
Also, assigning each drone to a different rock. Still done in HiSec belts.
I never said that.
Allocate 1 drone per rock, wander away for 15-20 minutes
While it is not the only way it gets used and Xuixien is now just being stupid, the Orca can be used as an AFK miner, and scaled up significantly due to not much being at risk by doing this.
Of course, the yield of an AFK orca is insanely low, and is unlikely to actually present any real impact to the economy.
I’m not making an economic argument.
Try to read what the other person is saying before you start calling them names.
No of course you aren’t, you aren’t making any argument other than “Orca bad! uuuuugh!”
I have read what you have written, and feel quite happy calling what you have been saying as stupid, because… well it is.
Actually I am.
I’m making the argument that AFK gameplay is bad for EVE.
Which it is. This was settled a long time ago. CCP agrees.
Sure, but that isn’t what your solutions solve.
Which was the point. one of your solutions actually FORCES the Orca to be AFK’ed. Which is why your ideas are stupid, because you are trying to make the AFK problem even WORSE.
I did note the ability to AFK mine at moons, which as far as I know is one of the lowest ISK/m3 mining in HS. Combined with the lower yield I don’t see why this would be a big enough deal to change an entire ship. But that’s just my opinion.
Even in HS belts, there are rare locations where you could get a 10k m3 veld rocks. Splitting up a single drone per rock, and not including travel time, you could last around 30 minutes AFK. These sites are hard to find. Most belts, even before the shortage age, do not have rocks that size. And once mined they take days to get back to that size.
And again I ask, how long can I leave my keyboard before my AFKness is a problem for you?
Sure it does. Taking drones away would absolutely solve the problem of AFK Orca mining.
Typing in caps doesn’t make you less wrong. You’re actually talking about a different problem now.
You are changing one AFK problem where only SOME Orca’s AFK and replacing it with another AFK problem where ALL Orcas AFK.
Under the guise that AFK gameplay is bad for EVE, and you can’t see how stupid that is?
P.S. Using caps is a way of emphasis, to ensure that you don’t miss the important parts.
This issue has been around since the day they added barges. CCP added those for the QOL so that miners didn’t have to work so hard. If you want to remove all AFK gameplay then we remove procurer/retriever/skiff/mackinaw, all drones across the whole game, FOF missiles, industry as it currently stands, market trading, PI, and countless other game aspects.
Rare? I see them every day. Dozens of them in every belt I warp to. I don’t exactly live in a backwater. Well it’s a bit of a backwater but not much.
They seem to be respawning normally where I live.
Bro, let me ask you a question here. You keep going on about how the Orca is super underpowered as a miner, and that you don’t mine AFK. So why do you mine in an Orca? Literally a Venture would be more ISK/hr, even warping to station every 5,000m3.
I’m taking away all of the Orca’s AFK mining.
This is a differently problem, and not the one I’m talking about. I’m talking about AFK mining. Try to keep up. But now that we’re on this note, do you have any ideas, or can I safely block you?
