Story time!
The Salvos Tale:
I realized early on that I did not enjoy the repetition of Missioning.
Instead, I specialized in Cruisers for HS DED probing/running.
I did research on dotlan, and created jump clones/ships in systems of interest to me.
I learned all the sites, and how to run them optimally.
I made wipe-able glass charts like these to record irrelevant sigs for faster identification of new DEDs:
Income was very good (for my standards anyways) and PLEX was cheap.
Life was good. I enjoyed my choice of how to play EVE.
But over time, the market became saturated with the drops I farmed, and PLEX went up and up.
This character has never left NPC Starter corp, because I never needed to.
I don’t need a Player Corp for the operation of this character.
The bounty of the sites is tiny, so the tax doesnt concern me.
I didnt need to refine/process/manufacture anything, so didnt care about tax on that either.
I shipped my goods using services provided by others, and sold them at market on a Player Corp trading alt.
My income came from deadspace modules and Overseers Personal Effects which I would sell at nearby CONCORD stations.
I know focus more on my alts, in other activities.
Impact on Salvos of a 25% NPC Corp Income Tax on all isk that enters my wallet:
-Reduced income from bounties.
-Have to sell the Overseer Effects on a Player Corp alt.
-Can still hire others to haul my stuff, or via free private contract to my own alt.
-Am still wardec immune.
-Can no longer transfer isk to this character, or Ill lose 25% to income tax.
The greatest impact, is not being able to transfer isk to this character without taxation, for purposes of buying what it needs to operate. Also cant sell anything directly on it, or Ill lose 25%.
Imo, the NPC Corp tax level is not only too small, but should be applied to ALL income that enters that NPC Corp members wallet.
An “Income Tax” of 25%, as fee for wardec immunity that the NPC Corp provides.
You work for them. They want their cut of all income you get.
As my example shows, there are ways around the proposed tax.
Its not intended to utterly kill NPC corp membership, with no options/survivors.
It will however incentivize joining Player Corps for all activities that involve isk income.
