Invasions are trapping and one shotting noobs

PvP comes in many shapes and sizes, by definition competitive activities are all PvP; furthermore you missed the bit about PvP being the core concept of the game, with almost all of the results of PvE ending up in an environment that may well be the most competitive in the game.

Just to help everybody understand where you’re coming from.

In your opinion what constitutes PvP in Eve?

What activities do you consider to be free of PvP, eg pure PvE?

And yes, it is somewhat of a slightly loaded question; people having wider ranging opinions about the subject than you appear to have.

You analogy is a bit overly dramatic.

As far as VET’s go, your understanding of what a VET is, bitter or otherwise is completely wrong. I have been doing this for a very long time, and the vast majority of the player base does not do any of what you are wailing about. the ones that do are normally pre-pubescent little trolls that do not make it to “VET” status in the first place.

And as to the comment of understanding of EvE as well as a VET player, you use that term way too much. There are players who never leave Hi-sec with over a decade in the game understand less about EVE, than one of my troops i pull out to NULL who has less than 6 months in game.

It has nothing to do with time in game, it has to do with eh mentality of the person behind the key board. I have seen it over and over for the last 14 plus years. PvP’ers are not a subclass to EvE, they are genus of EvE. And the quicker a player understands this, the faster they excel and thrive.

Yes. You’re all over claiming what eve is, what eve players are etc, etc.

Perhaps you fail to realize that every player that has played this game for a bit and therefore you despise (because of course there is no more to the game than ganking new players in hisec -of which after a year you are not btw - and that’s what everyone likes to spend their game doing) faced and overcame what you are complaining about.

Some of what you complain about is something of a test to see who will whinge, gripe, cry, complain, maybe quit. Guess how you did?

This is indeed PvE, it is also a PvP enabler; I’ll go into this more in a minute.

Would it be fair to say that we agree that the core concept of the game is PvP, it’s everyone vs everyone; cooperation with others being as valid a choice as beating the crap out of each other?

By PvP enabler I mean that:
The material proceeds of PvE almost always end up on the market, LP rewards for sale, loot and salvage for sale, finished products produced from loot and salvage etc etc. The fiscal rewards also end up being used to purchase new toys etc etc. The market itself is very definitely a PvP environment, being extremely competetive.

By being there in space you provide an opportunity for PvP, probably very one sided PvP, but PvP nonetheless. One of the cornerstones of Eve being that someone can mess up your day, anywhere, anytime and for any reason, or no reason at all; ergo the oft repeated axiom that you consent to PvP when you undock.

This is because the developers of the game, CCP, you know, the guys who actually made the game, have stated on record that the core aspect of EVE is PVP.

I doubt there is a person stupid enough to say that everything in EVE is PVP and that there are no aspects of PVE that exist, ever, in EVE. But the core gameplay of EVE is, and always has been, PVP. Any instance of PVE can instantly or eventually turn into PVP at almost any time.

It is the EVE most of the player bases knows, not only what I know. And your opinion unfortunately is based off very knowledge whether is from the unwillingness to learn or the unwillingness to accept based our your person biases.

For someone who flails on about nuance and terminology you sure don’t pay attention to words used, do ya?

You must have missed the “maybe”, huh?

You certainly do a lot of the rest.

EvE isn’t for everybody and that’s ok. EvE certainly is not for you.

This is generally a test, if a new player then asks questions of their killer they will more often than not be flooded with advice and often more than enough isk to cover their loss.

Sure, some people who kill newbros are arseholes, and do it because it makes them feel powerful, these guys won’t answer questions from newbros they’ll be obnoxious about it. Nobody likes these guys, they’re arseholes.

Quit saying VET, every time you say that most of us roll our eyes and know you are full of crap. Because you continue to show how little you really know.

You are the employee who walks into the shop the first day, looks at your coworkers and tell everyone they are wrong…and then you get a cold shoulder and terse response because you are a little git, and whine that everyone is being mean and an elitist.

High security means just that, it oppressive when compared to other areas of space. What it doesn’t mean is that you’re safe, it simply means Concord deal with illegal aggression. Your overall safety is still in your hands, it is your responsibilty to know what game mechanics allow others to shoot you in the face without Concord rolling up, and how those mechanics work; so that you can avoid it happening to you.

Every new player should understand that they can get attacked anywhere in EVE.

An emphatic yes from me there, some don’t want to acknowledge it though.

Does that mean that a veteran player is to be lauded for blowing up a noob? I think not.
I still say it’s sadistic and I don’t see any argument to the contrary.

It’s your opinion, go with it; others will have different opinions and thus discussion ensues.

The only thing I see so far are posters who feel targeted… I wonder why

I have no skin in this argument or feel targeted. I don’t partake of the active PvP in Eve, I’m an industrialist and trader who profits from it.

Please refer to the ones that act like arseholes as arseholes, any VET worth their salt will generally at least answer questions about the how, what and why of a newbro’s recent explosion and how not to die so easily in future.
