No, that’s not true. She’s actually a Null-Sec elite PvP’er. But you don’t have to be so obviously envious of her skill, @DeMichael_Crimson …
Contemporary gamers have spoken, and unanimously declared that a “place of peace” is what they desire. Games have to evolve to suit the needs of the people they’re meant to entertain, and those needs constantly change. PvP and grief is the old model, and PvE and cooperation is the new model. Deal with it and adapt. Or don’t. You and your kind are irrelevant because you’re an insignificant minority in the market at this point. You’ll die out, and not a soul will notice, or care.
If a streamer isn’t going to take care to hide where they are located (and/or give false information), then what do they expect? I have seen a lot of Eve streamers who take care to hide their location. I have seen others who don’t.
Kind of like posting on social media that you are going out of town prior to leaving, then wondering why your house got broken into.

Then this:
What?
Introduces Destiny to Poe’s Law…
" Poe’s law is an adage of internet culture saying that, without a clear indicator of the author’s intent, any parody of extreme views can be mistaken by some readers for a sincere expression of the views being parodied "
Streamers can’t truly hide their location. Locator agents can be used to quickly find any streamer, and it’s oftentimes very easy to tell where Streamers are from objects in space (like stations), context menus, or even the cosmic background. Even if CCP made some kind of “rule” that states that players can’t use streaming platforms as a means of locating players, it could easily be gotten around by having some people watching the stream, and then verbally announcing that a particular player is active in-game inside a chat channel or mailing list (a locator agent can then be used to “legitimize” the gank). The people doing the announcements wouldn’t be breaking any rules because they’re not “stream-sniping” since they’re not performing any in-game actions using the intel (i.e. killing the streamer), and the gankers wouldn’t be breaking any rules since they’re not “stream-sniping” because they’re not even watching the stream.
This is why the only way to address this issue is to allow anyone who identifies as a streamer to be able to choose to be immune to hostile PvP aggression.
Voltaire would be proud
I wouldn’t say that is the only solution but that woukd in fact solve a lot of problems and it woukd be a simple and effective fix.
One other way to fix things would be to make a mechanic to verify that someone is streaming and to reimburse any lisses he suffered due to other playe agression during the stream. This way the audience gets it’s bread and butter but the streamer isn’t affected.
This is a literal terrible idea ROFL.
The fact you can’t figure out why tells me how terribad you are at EVE LOL.
Edit: Cue literally every Goon becoming a streamer and setting null ablaze whilst getting reimbursed. Hilarity
This isn’t good enough, because reimbursement doesn’t negate the loss itself, and all of the shame, embarrassment, regret, and other negative feelings that come with it and its associated kill board entry. Plus, the entirety of the loss can’t be reimbursed, since reimbursing items that drop as loot would effectively lead to “duplication” of assets, which is exploitable.
No, the only way to address this issue is to completely prevent such attacks mechanically.
I’ll be going out of my way to gank streamers.
LOL can you imagine the two streamer fleets trying to fight? It’d be hilarity.
If a person streams in a system and there is no-one there to hear it…does it still make a sound ? Surely gankers are collapsing the wave function and thus ensuring that the streamer even exists.
I don’t really see an issue, since the participants would be able to provide consent. It wouldn’t be a hard-locked system in which if the game detects you’re broadcasting on Twitch, you’d be completely immune to player damage. It would be some kind of toggle like an “I am a streamer and I consent to player aggression” yes/no check mark in the escape options. This would accommodate players who are streaming but do not mind being attacked by other players during that time.
ftfy
*sigh…indeed…I’ve made my choice…
Yeah…we probably are.
You’re likely correct…negative and depressing…but likely correct
Sorry…which CCP are we talking about here ? I thought it was the one in Iceland. When did anyone give this ‘consent’ that you talk about for one app to ‘detect’ specifically what other apps are doing that does not affect Eve input ? That’s a far cry from simply detecting hardware or the ‘presence’ of third party apps.
This isn’t really an issue. Anti-cheating software that comes standard with many multiplayer games already does this sort of integration. If you don’t like it, you can decline the EULA and opt out of playing the game I guess, but most people won’t.
There’s nothing in the EULA that says 'we reserve the right to detect that you are watching Home & Away while mining '. And how does a streaming service detector know that a person is streaming Eve and not the butterflies in their garden ? It all becomes absurd…especially when the issue is that people have violated the very privacy that the game itself provides in order to stream content via third party software whose use invalidates any such in-game privacy. People can’t have their cake and eat it.
No wonder the game lacks amazing new stuff, if CCP are having to devote all their time to create AI to detect if someone is watching Buffy The Vampire Slayer and commenting on it via some stream with friends while mining. Sigh.
Do gankers get their stuff back when they stream?
100% insurance and even better, the ships and all modules returned to station ready to setup for a future gank, without having to bother with the market, etc.
Hilarious suggestion.
The mental gymnastics they go through are amazing.
Or they could simply accept the game they chose to play.
Its amazing
