if your on this point that you can shoot him → no this is the easy part ! but there are lot more work to do as just push F1 if you wanna find a target
exactly !
most part of the player slightly forget about this part of ganking !
which consequenzes do you want ? he lost his ship as tradeoff and cant board a ship for 15 min …
you also loose security status but vor real → doesnt matter for a real ganker
the main problem is the unawareness of “stupid” ppl they think they can do everything 100% safe ! no you cant and you need to know this fact ! if you know these fact then you can take your math how tanky you need to be and how much cargo you can transport on your tank to be “uninteresting” …
and yes sometimes they just gank because they want your salt and thats ok … avoid ganking and ganker have way harder live
i noticed the change that they cant dock on stations anymore but never noticed they couldnt tether or dock on citadell… nice to know but i think thats to heavy … but you still have a POS to hide ( i hope so xD )
Indeed, they just complain looking for more nerfs instead of self correcting and changing old habits. That is why I carry my -10 security status like a badge of honour. The last of a dying bread.
In the simplest terms: the longer you are a pirate in the hi-sec space and your security status deteriorates, the fewer and fewer opportunities you have to function in such a space. Starting with not being able to dock at NPC stations permanently (at later stages of lower and lower sec status in structures as well), ending with not being able to use the gates in a 4 faction area in hi-sec and being the target of a brutally effective pursuit by faction police… Thus gankers after months of ganking would have no choice but to move to low sec, or even null/wormhole space. Where they could throw down the gauntlet to other players for control of systems or play gate camp. They could also always try to accumulate a clone soldier tag and fix sec status, then go back to killing in hisec if they can’t play otherwise or the realities of low-sec/null/wormhole prove too much of a challenge for them.
You know, in the real world it works the same way. Pirates prowling the Caribbean Sea, for example, used to be ordinary people too, who went down the path of crime and at some point, after years of drowning ships, became the target of hunting by the navies of empires and could only find refuge in pirate havens. I don’t see why gankers in particular shouldn’t face a similar challenge, given the long-term consequences faced by dedicated FW players, mission runners or Triglavian/EDENCOM hunters.
By any chance, isn’t that the main attraction of this game? “Ships are ammo” and so on.
This is an included cost in the case of gank.
They no longer have any relevance in this game since the bounty payouts were turned off and can easily be removed from a character by alt account.
Again, part of this activity - with the nuisance of facpo harassment in the current version being… debatable. More than once I have seen a ganker ship tanking facpo at the gates because it had a remote repairing alt account nearby…
I am not against ganking. I would like this activity to have more depth and consistency than in its current form. So many years this part of the gameplay has remained unchanged by the devs that it has become… predictable. So routine. It gives no reason for gankers to change their gameplay style. Meanwhile, every other career has to face nerfs, weird buffs, etc. every few months.
what else are these ? thats a ■■■■■■■ hard long term punishment !
thats not a consequenz this is called “Banhammer” … congratulation
btw … Low sec has also gates of the factions … you killed HS ganking and Low sec Life in one step ! congratulations again
its happen right now … so wheres the point ?
so you banned ganking ! because ganking is just available in HS !
thats not the point dude … ganker are way more capable to life in Low/Null/Wh Space then their victims
you compare a PC Game with reality … pls stop and search for a psychologist because you need help !
could you do aswell before CCP deleted the bounty system ! its still a consequenz
still faction police shoot gankers with low sec status … so its a consequenz
NO YOU ARE NOT ? … WTF bro … did your cat runu over your keyboard and write this text above ? oO
I think that makes it sound a little too easy…like all one has to do is hit F1.
In reality, there’s a whole bunch of things one has to do…all literally within seconds. First you have to all align to the target…or you’ll arrive at different times. It’s helpful if fleet broadcast says who to aim for, but that is not always the case…and I’ve had simply ‘target Joe Bloggs’ in comms on occasions. Secondly, the fleet wont all have arrived within the same distance from the target, and the short range of a Catalyst means the first thing you often have to do is scram the target while you try to approach closer. The Concord clock starts from when you scram…not from when you fire. You need as many Catalysts as possible within optimal range…so seconds can actually tick by as you approach.
So it’s not quite as simple as just a leisurely press of F1 when you feel like it. It’s a lot of frantic activity with seconds, that has to be perfectly timed. It is definitely one of those things where only those who have ever done it know how ‘easy’ it is. You can’t just ‘imagine’ how easy or otherwise it might be.
Having ganked with Aiko and co. The end part (that is, tackling and applying damage) isn’t too hard.
The difficulty is in the planning and preparation. Namely the DPS calculations and applying the number of cats/tornadoes needed to successfully complete the gank.
It requires scouts, scanning and planning and does take time. But it is amazing how efficient Aiko and crew are at it.
Between ganks may be 30 minutes to hour, which is damn fast, considering all the prep that has to go into it, and beats out sitting for hours on a gate waiting for something to pop through like in the F1 null blobbers.
But the reason isn’t because the game is broken, it’s because the miners are too dumb. So the way to fix this is to gank more miners so they learn how to play EVE better.
Ganking has been recently nerfed to the ground with BIG consequences. I am sorry miner @Aesir_Valtari but no more nerfs are incoming. Ganking now is an ultra elite activity only reserved for the best in the game.
And dont forget the Alpha restrictions regarding red safeties, it basically means no more newbros joining the ranks to learn the activity.
It is possible that I formulated the idea imprecisely. I meant to use gates in the main space of 4 factions, in regions of 1.0 - 0.7 sec status. The use of gates in 0.6-0.5 systems would be allowed. So would moving through gates across pockets of “hi-sec” (0.6-0.5) between low sec spaces. Thus, deriving attacks from the lowsec → hisec 0.5-0.6 direction would be possible. Anyway, this is just a loose idea that would introduce some variables in the routine.
If it is now possible to tank facpo with either logi alt or dual local rep, this does not fall under the definition of “brutally effective pursuit by faction police”.
In a way. The idea would be that you start your career as a ganker, but after destroying enough ships you are faced with a choice - you become a resident of lowsec/nullsec/wormhole and continue the gameplay there, or you want to return to hisec to continue ganking - either by farming clone tags or by starting a new character and starting the routine all over again before hitting -10 sec status on your new pawn. Since it is so very, very important to be a ganker in hisec. As I mentioned - the different professions that players choose carry serious consequences and the need to change their playing style. Gankers can go on for years repeating the same routine, often even in one system, and nothing, they live well in a groove. Is this good for the game and for themselves?
So I would like to live to see CODE dethrone Snuffed Out as the infamous scourge of lowsec. Or at least see gankers maintaining gate camp at popular low sec choke points. At least there would be some meaningful change for everyone.
This is a natural thing for a game that calls itself an MMORG sandbox. It is nigh impossible to consider the evolution of New Eden and Capsuleers without comparisons to events in human history.
Really? Up to this point, we have been talking on a civilized level. Should I start throwing rude suggestions around too? Otherwise you can’t talk about controversial topics?
Maybe you don’t grasp this, but really, I’m not against gankers. It’s part of the reality of the game. I have no problem with it. I myself lost a ship to ganking, on another account I tried to be a ganker - to understand what it looks like from the other side. I will stress again that the point of this discussion is to talk about the fact that ganking has become a routine activity for those who have been doing it for a long time, and it would be useful to have a breath of fresh air, new challenges for this group.
I am puzzled as to why this arouses such strong opposition from some.
I understand your point of view. I agree with him, because I myself had to spend a lot of time and spend a lot of ISK on gank fit cata on another account before I made my first successful gank, on a poor venture anyway, so the scenario was standard. Therefore, I do not deny the fact that gank action on a large, valuable target is a complicated and risky endeavor. And I feel respect for those who can do it.
So I would appreciate it if you could describe and explain these changes in addition to those mentioned by Captain BeerMonster, because truth to be told, I am not so well versed in this subject. I returned to the game after probably a year’s hiatus and did not have the desire or time to review all the patch notes, so perhaps I have a misconception about the current situation of gankers.
main gates of the faction ? whats a main gate ? i only not gates of a facton and this goes from 1.0 to 0,1 !
you only want to ban ganking … its a stupid idea
you know faction police is not concord ? and only concord is overpowered and kills everything within seconds but they dont hunt ppl down …
faction police hunt people down and yes you can tank them but wheres your problem with that ? you also can tank a gank if you want …
nobody would start a career as ganker if you are after your second gank not able anymore to use gates or life in HS anymore … its just another idea to ban ganker
why should they do this ? their main target is HS ganking oO doesnt mean they are stupid as most ganking victims
and did you know that code has ( not sure if they still active ) a strong group which operates mostly out of a WH and dominate small fights in every space of eve ? no you didnt noticed ? dont wonder why …
just 2 low sec systems with more kills then you ever will have
WHAT THE FUGG… never ever has anyone compared a game to the reality oO
play any other MMO and in every MMO you are a murderer cause you kill other people … now explain how this is comparable to the real world Oo
if you come up with comparing reality with a game then yes, i only can say you need to be checked by a psychologist. cause you may have more time ingame then out of game and cant reflect whats ingame and out of game anymore …
so youre not against gankers but you wanna ban them … where is the point youre not against ganker oO its not clear right now
so you dont understand the consequenzes and didnt even know all of them and you wanna restrict this even more ? oO maybe you need at first to inform you before you try to wanna be swing a banhammer to a game style you cant understand
