If that’s the case, call Signal Cartel, they will come find you and lead you out. They do WH rescue all the time.
This is going to be an explanation that neither you nor anyone else asked for to explain why some of my remarks are constructed the way they are, so feel free to skip it.
Just so everyone knows what I said:
And what I was replying to. I also left a like on the following post:
The moment I left the like is the moment where I felt like I had to say something. I felt like I had to defend or explain why I did it before someone in the anti-ganking crowd saw I had done so.
I consider myself to be more of an anti-ganker, but I’m an estranged one. I didn’t make many friends on the same side as me that I wasn’t afraid would turn on me for not being anti-ganker enough for their taste.
I consider congratulating someone in an opposition faction to be an act of good sportsmanship. I wanted to show that I was impressed. Good sportsmanship, though, is what used to get me into trouble. It’s as if I was not allowed to say anything good about anybody who ganks at all.
There was a comment made about how this fellow had friends who liked hauling and quit the game because of ganking, and that I must not care about them because I think ganking overstuffed freighters is OK. I do not respond to that, but it does hurt my feelings when people imply I don’t care.
I do care about these friends of his, even if they are purely theoretical. The thing is, I do not care about exactly where they find happiness. If they enjoy Eve and play it and they’re happy, then that is good. If they do not enjoy Eve and are happy spending their time elsewhere, then that is also good. Eve isn’t for everyone.
I also care about the people who want to play a video game and role play being vigilantes, bounty hunters, criminals, gangsters, or what have you. I don’t want to do any of that. I don’t want to haul lots of freight, either. It doesn’t matter, though, whether I want to do those things. I want people to be happy doing whatever they want to do. It makes me unhappy when people playing video games are subjected to guilt tripping and harassment on false moral grounds for engaging in what is supposed to be legitimate gameplay.
I care about everyone, but this is generally not allowed without making everyone mad at me for not taking their side so I end up always trying to dance in the middle and it looks weird. I don’t really care if people like me or not, but I do care if they are unhappy and I don’t want to be the proximate cause of their distress.
So anyways, congratulations. I really mean it. It wasn’t an action taken against me, but I still feel like I was outplayed and you deserve a pat on the back.
I know how you feel, which is why I decided just to be an ass to everyone.
If I was gonna be made to feel bad regardess, it should be on my own terms.
I don’t think we have the same definition of ‘ass’.
I think of you more as a “Snark Knight”.
Aw thank you
Thats quite a cute title
Good sportsmanship is also good strategy. Especially in a video game. (There’s no point in hating anybody over 1’s and 0’s on a screen.)
Don’t let yourself feel like you need to be in a specific crowd.
I’m occasionally hauling in high sec and in favour of ganking, as well as in favour of anti-ganking. Anti-gankers, gankers, other residents of high sec like haulers and miners are all a group of EVE players. And unless players unnecessarily restrict themselves, they could do all of those activities.
Play the game, have fun, do whatever you want to do whether that’s killing gankers, killing NPC pirates, killing rocks or killing haulers. Or don’t kill at all.
As long as people don’t try to kill other playstyles by crying about how ‘the other group ruins EVE’ or ‘I quit because people can kill me in this game’ I’ll support whatever playstyle they like.
So if you enjoy anti-ganking yet want to act sportsmanlike to an act of ganking, do so if that’s what you want to do. And if some other anti-gankers don’t like that, their loss.
Your eclectic vision on the game should be a mandatory part of the NPE, sir.
I just suicide on a kiki volta yesterday for the first time in 7 years of gameplay
It was goooooooooooooooooooood
And kind of apt.
I am sorry that my comment hurt your feelings, but it was in terms of your statement that I replied to, you should look at that again. I understood it as this:
Which is fine. I was stating that it was bad that people who wanted to do solo account hisec hauling were driven from the game, because that was what they wanted to do and had fun with it.
My approach has been to try to get balance for their play because I think they were important to the diversity of play styles.
That was never meant as a personal attack, please don’t take it as one. And I understand where you are coming from in terms of this:
I saw you as that and still see you as that.
And I happen to like you.
Haven’t heard that name in a long time. But yeah, ganking multiple barges in multiple belts in a single nado.
He is why you can’t warp when you go criminal.
That dude was a legend and I miss him.
I think they gank simply because they enjoy being antisocial cretins.
Yet they operate in groups, and freighters on their own are viable targets.
Existence of gankers can give you a competitive advantage, if you know how to avoid them and the other guy doesn’t.
I’m glad they kill my competition.
And personally I don’t object to career high sec gankers (characters with high SP). I just don’t like seeing alphas do it. I think alphas should be barred.
All those Alpha haulers and Alpha miners and Alpha ratters are your competition and Alpha gankers can take them. Why shouldn’t Alphas be able to play try out easily accessible parts of the game such as high sec ganking?
Let’s go further: I would think that the majority of paying Omega players who want to try out ganking do so first on an Alpha character before they consider becoming ‘career omega gankers’. Myself for example, I have just one Omega character that can fly Catalysts, yet this character cannot safely enter high sec because of war decs, so I had to make an Alpha alt to try out ganking. Why would you want to stop that?
I also agree with removing Alphas.
Well, actually, it wouldn’t be antisocial. Antisocial involves defying group norms and rules, because the person DGAF. Gankers aren’t defying any “norms or rules” - if anything, they’re adhering to the norms of EVE Online, and certainly not violating any rules per se.
See, it’s you who are applying your own rules and norms and expecting people to adhere to them. This is usually a mistake and ends in tears.
