Is Hisec ganking good for the game?

I like to fight people that are trying to fight me. I love to roam Null space, and find a guy at a gate in an interdictor. Let him wreck my velator, and pod my un-implanted jump clone. Then come back later with an Arbitrator and try to blow him up.

That’s a real fight. A gank is like deer hunting. Not my style.

Right, but free easy isk? Not your thing?

Not really. No. If ISK comes too easy, then the game isn’t challenging, and I would probably go find another game to play.

It’s fun to find to trick for getting it, I guess.

Why? Do you make a lot of ISK ganking ventures?

I think maybe ganking is too challenging for you, and that’s the real reason you don’t gank… but you want to see ganking nerfed, so you pretend it’s easy, but of course you can’t do it.

Are you saying it’s hard?

It looks like all other carebear activities to me. You’re only out the cost of a Catalyst, which you know in advance you will lose. And you’re attacking someone you already know won’t put up a meaningful fight.

If you can’t do it, you can’t have a valid opinion.

I don’t think the reason a person doesn’t engage in it has anything to do with core competencies.

The gain is mostly psychological, rather than financial. Some people enjoy being the one kicking the other player down. Others may even enjoy being the one kicked (or find it helps them deal with psychological issues they have from a rough childhood or something).

But others get nothing out of it and stay away from it.

But you should admit to yourself that you’re not challenging yourself, just like how the carebears aren’t challenging themselves.

It doesn’t matter what you think.

Since you don’t even know how to gank, you are just a theorycrafter who has opinions that are based on random uninformed assumptions.

When it comes your specialty, your’e right that I don’t know about it as well as you do. Avoiding high sec gankers is easy, so my play time on the other end is all of about maybe an hour before I learned to simply avoid them.

But I’m not just a theory crafter. I put my plans into practice. But I play a very different game, and play it in areas where gankers don’t have it easy.

So you concede that your playstyle is easy?

Speaking of ganks, anybody remember a player named “Herr Wilkus” and his “Tornado Trifecta”?
He was so good at it, CCP made changes just to stop him.

Good old days.

If I played in high sec it would be. I leave behind the parts of the game that are too easy.

The quickest path to maximum ISK is just to play the market with long buys and sells. But it’s probably even more boring than what you do.

What’s interesting about this statement, is that it actually runs counter to your thesis about ganking being easy. If it’s easy for you to avoid gankers, it must be correspondingly difficult for gankers to catch you.

Indeed, ganking is elite pvp, which is why YOU can’t do it.

I think we should establish an eliteness heirarchy.

At the bottom is bot mining (which high sec gankers do a good job of addressing, I should add).

Next up is carebearing.

Then high sec ganking.

I’m pretty comfortable with that so far.

You lack experience and have no meaningful opinions on the subject.

Thank you for your input!

Where is krabbing in that hierarchy?

Let me guess…it’ll just so happen that your gameplay is close to the top of the eliteness heirarchy?

All heirarchies are just ways for people to feel good about themselves…because it always seems to work out, that no matter which specific heirarchy they are referring to, they are close to the top.

If you need a heirarchy to feel good about yourself, or even just to put others down, then nothing you are doing is leet. It’s just sad.

Ok, but to be fair, Princess gameplay is top tier content.

Yes. +
That would be the goal of any hierarchy. Wouldn’t it?

But I actually put worm hole exploration above my own game play tier. Maybe when I’m a fully matured Eve player I’ll go there. Not yet.

High Sec ganking means you’re still glued to High Sec. And being glued to High Sec means you’re still a Newb at heart.

No need to wait. Just make sure you have some scanning skills so you can get yourself out of the wh of you mess up and forget to bookmark the exit or if the exit closes.
