Is Hisec ganking good for the game?

So they are chatting on Discord while they fly their freighter solo?

That is why I was trying to find out what you mean by social.

Apparently freighter pilots are chatting on Discord, instead of focusing on their freighter? I heard some of them are watching YouTube, or outside mowing the lawn.

I guess they don’t need a buff, they just need to pay attention.

Dracvlad has admitted that freighter pilots are busy gossiping in chat channels and browsing memes on Discord, instead of paying attention to the game. I bet some of them are even at work, and have the screen minimized while they do data entry. I’m glad we finally figured out what the freighter pilots are doing wrong.

And yet I have asked for two modules to be introduced as fitting options for freighters that need at the keyboard play to use and have an effect.

That’s fine.

Cut freighter ehp in half. If they push the button, then for 10 seconds their ehp increases to the current levels. This will reward active gameplay.

That’s what you want, right?

I can support that.

I know you chaps are fixated on EHP, but my suggestions are rewarding people who actively play their ships.

Ok, uh…

Cut freighter ehp in half. If the freighter pushes the ā€œecm active jam buttonā€ then it will have a 50% chance to break an active target lock. They can use it once every 5 minutes.

That’s probably fine.

If your suggestion is that CCP adjust the EHP at some point with the addition of those suggested modules then that would be down to CCP and their feeling on game balance. After all they did increase freighter EHP after giving gankers the wreck EHP buff to balance that gift.

Oh, so CCP is going to decide what to do?

Well then, what’s even the point of discussing it?

Just contact your CSM candidate. I’m sure they will listen to you.

Freighter pilots who are paying attention are already extremely safe. If we are to be made safer, what’s the downside we face?

There’s no free lunch.

Somewhere, I saw Dracvlad complaining about Highsec haulers not getting paid enough.

If hauling becomes safer, I imagine the payments will drop.

Not that it matters to him, since he doesn’t even play the game.

Like when scanning was made easier, the big losers initially were the guys that were really skilled at scanning. Levelling the playing field just brought less skilled players up to a level they could compete without as much skill and now years later, the skilled guys no longer exist.

It will be the same. If we keep levelling the playing field, to the benefit of the unskilled, they won’t need to become skilled and ultimately, there’s no advantage in being a skilled player.

The game loses big time, including the ones that don’t need to be as skilled, because there’s less challenge. Less challenge is a less engaging game.

People who want on the surface, greater safety in the name of player numbers, are the ones who ultimately lead to lower numbers.

That is an example that I agree with. It was a big loss to the game.

Except that I am looking to give options so a skilled player can use them, not be a sitting duck.

You are comparing apples to pears by the way.

Absolutely, it’s just basic market economics.

The easier things become, the cheaper they become. I know some people want to play EVE on creative mode, with a titan in every hangar, but people already complain about boredom - at some point, we might as well just start playing on the test server. In fact, if freighter pilots love hauling so much, they can just go there and run contracts.

You are looking for a magical safety button that anyone can push, that’s not exactly a skill.

Are you honestly saying that a BS MWD is a magical safety button? The spectrum lock breaker is however a randomiser against spreadsheet ganking, so while it is not a magic button it will seem like that to some people.

Skilled players already have the options they need. This isn’t for skilled players. This is to lower the skill needed to achieve the same outcome.

Please explain why this is not an option for a skilled player, using the MWD in the right way will even impact bumping, the spectrum lock breaker requires timing to get the best effect. The best impact is that the spectrum lock breaker would make ganking a freighter less of a multi-account thing and more of a multi-player thing which is a good thing, isn’t it?

I keep coming back to this thread. Every time i just want to blow my brains out.

Stop feeding the troll.
