I agree with you. I am a kind PvP players.
When one guy is legitimately playing, and I see he’s running on alpha, is not a bot, and I kill him in LowSec (I don’t kill people in high sec. I do suspect baiting sometimes howver), I usually give the money back + small extra
The noob super noob is having a hard time playing the game, and I thought a lesson to the guy : how can he behave better ? How can he fit better ? Is he prepared for low sec? Etc.
So giving the money back which usually does not exceed 2m is good for everyone
Edit : talking about guys struggling with t1 frigate with FW stuff killing NPCs. Not the guys looking for 1v1 dogfights of course, or explorers either
They exist in EVE already. They are called Starter systems.
If this were true, we would know what had actually happened to Jeffery Epstein.
This isnt the case, which is why we dont. Even in prisons, guards do not always react in a meaningful time period, and even then, they can only act where they have either a camera set up, or where another physical guard is standing watch over. Which is why crime occurs so frequently and things get smuggled in so many times in prison.
Even High security places in real life cant hold a candle to Hisec in EVE.
You jumped onto a specific part of my post, basically reacting to a keyword, and started addressing it out of the context of the meaning in my post without reference to the chain of thought I was posting…
That was one of the weird things for me as a new player - but having played quite a lot of video games I pretty quickly realised it was one of those things where the intent didn’t quite match up with reality. I can see how a lot of people, especially those who haven’t grown up through the progress of videos games over time, would take longer to understand it.
My angle has always been about the “comebackability” I was illustrating that when it comes to ganking there is a huge range of how ganking happens which affects that. To illustrate I’ll go back to a point Ramona was raising - PVP outside of ganking people can also destroy someone’s ship then make themselves untouchable i.e. they straight up quit the game after killing you but in those contexts it is a relatively low occurrence, with ganking it is a relatively high occurrence but does depend across the spread of ganking - as mentioned someone who ganks regularly and doesn’t just cycle alts and/or only undock immediately to gank is much more exposed to revenge or repercussions and likewise with the way they carry out the gank with some being more exposed to being stopped or the target catching on to the fact that they are in danger ahead of time than others while in some cases there is nothing (outside of edge cases) anyone could have done to prevent it - which then in my book makes it more important that they can’t simply just remove that character from future consequences.
They can have +2 my guy. And a lowly venture can have +4. As it stands most .4s are safer than hi sec right meow.
Learn to F10. Learn to use the meta tools available. The first step in avoiding a trap is knowing its there. And uh, mining/hauling ships can fit, just have to be fitted to do so. Not well and not against an actual combat force but a fleet of battle procs can mess up unsuspecting blappers.
Huh. Its almost like you can add their corp, alts and everything to your contact list and then pay NPCs in game to find them.
Huh. Its almost like you can use zkills to track their kills and figure out what systems they tend to hang out in, then go find them with your cata and blap them.
Huh. Its almost like you can use in game channels to gather intel by using an alt of your own to join the ganking corps to get an inside look at them and then use that information to your advantage.
Bro sit down. You’re an embarrassment, and you don’t even actively play anymore. They straight ganked your soul huh?
You aren’t understanding what I’m saying - it is a relatively high occurrence over ganking as a whole (hence full spectrum) where post a gank the specific characters involved are close to if not completely immune to those measures you’ve mentioned - in some cases people don’t even use that character again or never undock it or once in a blue moon log it in just for a gank without any chance of interdicting them in reality. That isn’t conducive to a good PVP environment.
That doesn’t mean it is the case with every person who is carrying out ganking there are plenty who do it regularly on the same character who are vulnerable to future consequences if someone puts in the leg work but the balance tends to be tilted far more to one side than the other at least in my experience with supporting new players who got themselves ganked.
Yeah, apparently Ash does more for new players than Mike has so far; and all in just 4 years.
4 years @ 10,000+ handouts.
Averaging 2500 handouts to new players per year, or 7 handouts to new players every single day for 4 straight years, not including ISK handed out on top of that.
Seems we would have heard about this before with that level of benevolent activity.
They can - but not something a new player can do easily. I actually hung around with such a fleet once but didn’t get much interest - so I ended up mining 200+m ISK worth of rocks instead
Broski, you don’t even play anymore. Your intel is out of date. I regularly see the same exact gankers in fact ganking. Yes, there is the random act of violence solo ganker alt. But real, organized ganking? It the same peeps.
So yes, you can get vengeance. Surprisingly few seem to do so. Cause in doing so, you’d actually have to learn how to play the game.
The frontline is everywhere bucko. Only safe space is in the station and even then not so much if you’re dumb on corp management.
Yes there are people doing that - but there are tons who aren’t - there was swarms ganking freighters, etc. when I played as well. Don’t under-estimate how many people are also doing solo or ganking with a small number of characters then using (or not using) those characters in way which realistically means they are untouchable. Hence why I’ve said there is a range involved.
Personally I didn’t gank much - but there is also dozens of corps who acted just the same way so those numbers who don’t gank much over the whole game add up even though they don’t have the prominence of some of the more active ganking entities.
Personally don’t have much sympathy for those who get their freighter ganked as by the time you get to flying freighters unless buying a character or skills you should have the experiences and means to avoid it.
Oh? So when does a player stop being new? Cause if they can fly a proc, they are already pretty up there SP wise. I love how you and Drac’s excuses basically make like new players are stupid and stupid forever.
You basically take all agency away from them. They can certainly google and learn about a game that’s been around since the early 2000s. EVE is the last of the actual MMOs. Ones that take thought and planning. One where losses can really hurt but conversely victories actually can mean something.
Ya’ll wanna sanitize and dumb down EVE until its just people placidly mining space rocks and blapping NPC ships. Remember, this was a game that used to regularly hold IPOs, real and scam. Player made content at its best.
Those days are long gone. Now we live in shallower times. Is CCP at fault? Of course. But so is the playerbase. Aiko should be lauded for at least attempting player made content.
Be your own main character. Do something. Build something. Or burn something down. I reject your call to live this shallow existence. Ganking is a small price to pay for actual in game freedom.
Yes it is because the threat of ganking is a necessary component of the decision making process for many playstyles in Highsec. From mining to hauling if you removing ganking from the game then all of the fitting flexibility of the game is largely collapsed to maximum throughput.
The threat of ganking puts a reverse pressure against simply blinging out your ship to high heaven to be “better” than everyone else.
And requiring all playstyles have to engage with other playstyles in many different and complex ways is at the heart and soul of EVE Online. PvEers don’t think PvP should be able to interfere, and PvPers feel they should have to do “■■■■■■■■ PvE just to do what I want to do”, but EVE Online is a game about simulated the interwoven web of pressures and requirements that feed into real life business and social structures.
You don’t get to live in the sandbox without accepting all of it.
Or to put it another way: go play EVE Echoes if you want to see the impact of removal of ganking on the game.
