We keep being told many things in this sprawling thread.
There’s no doubt that Alpha characters are used in some cases. CCP is clearly aware of that and, although they may not have expected it to happen, they’ve left it alone. It’s Emergent Game-Play.
If the players are genuinely new, what an exciting way to introduce them to the game!
You are wrong in thinking MEANINGFUL revenge can be had that way particularly since its a throw away ship you will get…if you even get it.
But you don’t have to listen to anything I say. Just get yourself in a venture, go to Isikano or Isanamo, start mining and soonish you will get a kill right. Then try and use that kill right to bum out the pilot that attacked you. Lots of luck.
As I’ve said………If you use the kill right to stop a gank of a freighter it is meaningful. They lose their ship and the loot they would have gotten from the ship. That’s going to sting.
Ahhhhh the corner stone of failure. When all arguments are gone. “Well you do it then” lol.
I am not sure how you being deaf constitutes a failure on my part to get through to you.
I told you it won’t matter. You claim it does. All that is left is for you to go out and prove it matters. Get your killright, use it to stop a freighter gank, and screen shot your convo with the ganker as he melts down because of your interference.
I want nothing more than for you to prove me wrong once and for all.
Strangely I don’t think that the majority of AG or the posters I see on the forums really want ganking removed from hisec as such. IN fact most of the time I see ganker aligned players saying that. I wish that they would not do it.
The defencelessness or inability to strike back a meaningful blow has an issue in terms of retention of players, it is foolish to ignore it as an impact. All of my efforts have been intended to reduce these feelings, but at the end of the day ganking is part of the game in hisec.
Nerfs and buffs are always going to happen in Eve, it is just the way it is. And I really do not agree with this concept of one more nerf until it is removed from the game because at the end of the day CCP has actually buffed ganking more than it has nerfed it, at least in my opinion.
AG is not a balanced activity, just now I was having a long theory crafting session on this and it is pretty stark just how bad it was. There is a reason very few people actively AG.
This is very true, especially if we are talking about bloated harmless haulers vs. frigates bristling with weapons. That seems to be the bulk of the HS ganking.
I’m sorry but literally no one with a reasonable level of experience in the game would look at my killboard and identify me as a null bear F1 monkey… you are the least able to talk about what people know in this game.
I don’t see how that’s bad for the game. The people who get ganked are the worst players in the game. Ensuring they have “meaningful revenge” would remove most of the challenge from the game. The process would probably have to be automated, since most of these people wouldn’t bother doing anything themselves.
Somebody has to lose the game, that’s just the way games work. In this case, it’s not a question of game mechanics. Some people just aren’t trying very hard, mainly because they want to make isk while AFK.
I am sure it looks that way, from the point of view of someone who can only see this as a game of ganking despite all the other activities there are.
I am sure it looks that way, from the point of view of someone who can only see a game as a matter of instanced winning and losing, where winning is result of pummeling another player worse than they themselves got pummeled back.
But I really don’t get how you can say all that and not see how so many others want to leave when they can’t even reach the people that pummeled them first.
I mean yeah, some people can feel satisfaction in hitting a completely different and innocent person. But some are well aware they want to hit back, not just hit at random.
