Instadock bookmarks land you at 0km always, so you can immediately dock when you end your warp.

When you end your warp, there is a short period that you are invulnerable and in that period you will dock.

you are not invulnerable, you are un targetable. You can still be shot using smartbombs. (well not withing station radius but outside you can). Or titan 's doomsday.

Yes this pedant is correct.

You can’t be targeted for a short period of time, so you’ll dock in that time, if you use an instadock bookmark. Invulnerable wasn’t the correct word.

It’s important to understand that warp mechanism are actually very complex, with a lot of exceptional situations.

Saying that you are invulnerable when exiting warp is wrong, because AFAIK there are two things that can shoot you - and people will only remember that you are invulnerable when exiting warp, not the condition of being in jita insta dock.

Yeah, off topic, but seems CCP have changed the settings recently, so it’s “moderation by community”.

Kind of a pity, because it just leads to forum pvp, rather than an open sharing of different views and ideas.

Especially disappointing in C&P which has traditionally tolerated all views.

I personally think CCP should remove instadocks. It’s a lazy mechanic and bad game design to create a system in which people who know they need one are using them, and other people are seriously operating at a disadvantage. Of course, it would be equally lazy and bad to just have everyone instadock (might as well have a YOU WIN EVE message for bot aspirants, the first time they log into the game).

I think the game would be vastly improved if everyone landed at some distance from stations and gates, maybe 15km or so.

Yes, invulnerable was not the correct word (read up maybe and you’ll see that’s already stated), but in Jita there are not 2 things that can shoot you in that period.

It was literally one second before I was killed.

You say literally one second, but in reality it was probably longer. It just felt fast because it was over so fast.

You admitted you were auto piloting, which means they probably scanned you and was looking out for your ship before the gank. Probably on the jita gate on perimeter system. They knew you were coming, and all it takes is a few seconds for them to shoot you.

The reason why I doubt that it took only a literal second, is because the server ticks take 1 second, which means it probably took them 3 or 4 seconds to lock and kill you. Again, it felt shorter because you were pumped up and looking at it in hindsight. If you make an instadock bookmark, it will literally take one or two seconds to dock.

Just warping and trying to dock takes 5 or 6 seconds, at the very least, to dock.

Also, they are not robots, they are just very good at what they do, and make a lot of isk from it, so they do it frequently. There is nothing wrong with that.

Thanks everyone for your feedback. I was told to come here by CCP regarding this incident. I was wondering how players could be killed and then be right back at it within half an hour. Because the kill boards show the doing this over and over again for days. It made me wonder if it was a bot and hence my question here about getting killed in Jita which is illegal.

I learned:

1. that they are not bots.
2. That if I use insta dock then I immediately warp in (excluding a smart bomb or something like that) and that is the best way to stay protected.
3. I was uncloaked and vulnerable for one second and that was enough time to be illegally killed.
4. Which I had thought about afterwards but it merits writing here, if I had hardeners on then I would have likely survived. Will add that and instadock to my game play . . . if I decide to continue.
5. Sabriz and Aiko think I am a bot aspirant because of an innocent question that I was instructed to ask by CCP support.
6. Somebody likes to play games with making post unviewable (not me).

Firstly, it’s a great place to come and ask, because the traditional members of C&P know everything there is to know about highsec shenanigans, although the traditional members of the community have largely left the game now.

Secondly, if someone in game tells you to come to C&P, there’s a good chance they are expecting a whine thread. We all like to laugh at a good whiner in this forum, but you’ve come with the right attitude, so +1 for taking this as a learning opportunity.

Russell, you had carbon in your cargohold - that’s the definition of bot aspirancy.

If you want to avoid having your ship explode, it’s not enough to just learn game mechanics. You also need to understand the culture, and there’s a reason people shoot what they describe as a “bot aspirant”. There’s also the question of “illegal” - you say it was illegal to shoot your ship, but some might say that you were the one who broke the law.

Oh for Christ’s sake. There is no law against carrying carbon. It wasn’t that much - I was full of sleeper blue loot and and circuits etc from my explorations of data and relic sites. I am not a miner. I only did mining in the game intro and that was it. Mining is a waste of time. And if it wasn’t illegal then I would not have received kill rights. Please go away and stand on your soap box somewhere else. You are not helping.
