July Release - Strategic Cruisers

We are just going to have to disagree on this. Balance is possible in theory but with thousands if not tens of thousands of variables that have to be considered it becomes an impossible goal in practise*.

Even small changes can lead to unexpected consequences and given the hundreds of thousands of players on EVE looking at how the game works they will find things that CCP never considered.

How many people live inside of wormhole space for example? CCP never considered that players would permanently move into them. This kind of emergent game play is generally embraced.

If it harms the enjoyment of the game then something will be changed again. Not all changes will have the intended consequences. CCP try to predict them, it’s why they have an economist on staff and it’s why they engage with the player base through CSM and focus groups like this. But I guarantee you there will be unintended consequences from these changes.

  • Unless maybe you find a way to quantify all of those variables and use a quantum annealer. Maybe CCP needs D-Wave quantum computer?

Old Roles

t3 roles - small 7 man or solo - wormhole combat

t2 roles - mostly 100+ fleet combat - null sec crap I don’t care about

t1 role - throw away awesome fun

New Roles

t2 roles - mostly 100+ fleet combat - null sec crap I don’t care about

t3 roles - crappy version of t2 with skill loss, not for wormhole use

t1 role - throw away awesome fun

I think the chain of relations is:

Nerfed T3C ships mean less demand of them.
This means less production of these ships.
The consequences is less interest in T3 resources (salvaged in WHs).
So less WH salvage farming.

youre talking about how industry changes affect the ecosystem of the game
but thats beside the point because im talking purely about ship meta
like how ships compare to eachother in a way that allows for all ships to be equally useful and attractive

I expect demand for T3C to plummet and thus the wormhole economy will suffer, that’s all.

If the null sec cartels can’t control an ISK stream through in-game influence, CCP then nerfs that ISK stream into the dust.

Personally I don’t see much use for sentries on a T3 except of course for mission running maybe.

So you need 4 faction DDA’s to get 500ish DPS, on a Proteus that uses the same slots for its tank, what exactly are you going to use as a tank?
Best I can see is 7 lows 3 mids - 4 DDA’s leaves 3 slots for tank.

So again I’ll ask, what is the DPS with sentries (and fit) someone might actually use?

I was never a math wiz, but I’m pretty sure a Tech 3 cruiser should hold more potential than a Tech 2 cruiser. Would make sense to me that they are pushing the capabilities of T3Cs up to allow (hopefully) breathing room to make changes/nerfs/buffs to the outdated T2 cruiser remnants

yeah i think it works better with combat drones and 100mn ab like a vni
basically augmented sub gives more dps
nano sub gives more tank
but with the 100mn ab youll probably go with the augmented sub and take the extra damage

After this update, are we still losing skill points if get killed in a T3? Or that is a history now?

Something something, ā€œunique mechanismā€. In reality it’s just SP injectors farms reason to exist. Passive income for players, RL money income for CCP.

Thanks CCP. These T3 changes are going to be the death of the community I help run called Bombers Bar.

I have dedicated 3 accounts towards the Tengu HK and I have invested so much time in to this ship to hunt for Bombers Bar with the tengu.

I know we are small and not worth much but you have removed the sandbox from our community.

I’m unsubbing my 3 tengu accounts and potentially may stop my input with bombers bar because of these changes.

I have also invested a massive ammount of effort and time into solo blops. You have pretty much made that impossible too.

The two things I love about this game. Now taken away. Not good… Just so you can please the masses and nullsec ratters. Making them safer etc.

Bug found…

When you change systems, you end up with 2 of the same system!

Could you elaborate on what exactly you mean? Or better yet, submit a bug report!

… so not a bug as such, just me not realising Covert sub systems dont exist anymore. Then I went on, I am sure there was a covert subsytem in and when I removed it, it turned into an Accelerated Ejection subsystem. Can be 100% sure though as I obviously cant recreate

I have actually already unsubbed my two Tengu pilots as the changes will very likely kill off my ability to use them with acceptable risk. The changes will mean more frequent warp outs in case of a stroke of bad luck while hacking so the revenue will be less and the risk overall much higher…

These two will remain unsubbed for a bit while I investigate options and will meet their definite end after extraction of SP if all else fails…

Not that anyone at CCP cares… After all their Null Cartel buddies got their glass canons …
