I mean I’d be doing these as a new player. If some small corporation’s moon chunk explodes in an 0.5 and they set up freelance jobs to make it disappear into the Athanor for 95% of its Jita buy, I probably would if I was in the vicinity. I wouldn’t have heard about it otherwise.
I’ll keep an open mind, but time will tell…
On the topic of BOBs: The Minmatar BOBs need to apply Duct Tape to Minmatar ships.
And for which BOBs we need: Spy BOBs that you can send into the station and scan ships, hangars, people for spicey targets.
On the topic of planet realism: UJY-HE still has a planet of 5.6k km diameter with moons around 5.3k km and 8.3k km and one even 29.1k km. 6x the size of the planet. This is ridicoulous.
That’s a fair critique of AI — context matters, and sometimes it misses the nuance. But it’s worth remembering that the same applies to people too.
We all interpret posts differently. Some see chaos, others see creativity. Dryson’s style isn’t for everyone, but it has sparked more discussions than a lot of “on-topic” threads.
Let’s try to keep things focused on the ideas instead of turning it into a pile-on. We’re all here because we care about the game — even if we say it in very different ways.
Nah, mine are already crushed into submission. The advantage of Freelance jobs is they allow us to add everybody else’s slaves to the empire.
Just kidding above, obviously. I don’t run any corps and only about 3 of my chars are even in one, none of them large or overly active. As Gerard pointed out, Corps and Contracts and Fleets and many other things can already be abused in some ways, but they also facilitate much of the positive activity that occurs in EVE.
If we never approve of anything new because “it might be abused”, we may as well give up on EVE right now. Anything interesting will have some abuses. ‘Caveat emptor’ will still be the order of the day.
This will depend on the method of implementation CCP chooses I think. If most of the Freelance jobs are accessed through the Agency or Opportunities, players will be able to find what they need and filter or block spam as they already do. We’re already swamped with spam anyway.
It’s a new feature with actual (potential) benefits for both new and old players and corps/fleets/solos. Let’s give it a little chance to breathe before we smother it with those negative waves, Moriarty.
That would be no different than a courier contract that pays you to warp to a system with a waiting gank fleet, gate camp, etc.
I see no inherent problems here. I’ll wait for more details before I start speculating.
These are only corporation-generated. Doesn’t look like there’s a mining option right now (unless I missed it): destroy non-capsuleers, damage capsuleers, two FW jobs and a ship insurance job (basically begging for ship replacement). Limited to 5 jumps from systems where you have rented offices.
Right now you can only restrict jobs by capsuleer age (younger, older) and region.
Is it five jumps from a rented office, or five jumps from a system you designate to broadcast from? If broadcasting requires renting an office, I can see office space drying up quickly around the starter systems.
There were 5-6 in a list, so in going off memory I might have missed the mining one.
They said 5 jumps from the designated system - which had to have a rental office. You can offer these jobs from more than one system, but there’s a cost for each location x duration (days). These fees are in addition to rewards.
I’m just generalizing - someone will probably post more details after FanFest.
I didn’t hear that part, but I was also up very early to see the presentation, so not fully awake.
Big change that hasn’t been mentioned is that all resistances (except DC, RAH) are getting buffed back to pre-Surgical Strike nerf, so + ~11%. Also Storyline RAH, MJD and others (all rare).
So I get my 300k EHP Skiff back?
Probably. I guess my Marauders, Orca and Skiffs are all getting a nice EHP buff…
That is gonna be brutal ganking nerf if it is true.
Good. They were all salivating over the Rupture’s new damage bonus…
They’ll just bring more ships. N+1 always wins…
Let them. The new Freelance jobs are already looking to be a huge ganking buff…
Best comment I saw on the overhead screen: “Hire a Monkey to work on the UI Interface” (player suggestions). I guess for those who care you’ll be able to colorize (up to 12 it looks like) your Neocom icons. I guess making a market icon or similar red (etc.) could be handy.
In terms of new features I think I’m most excited about the new map. In terms of graphics, the burning ship hulls in space and firebobs in station should pass the time nicely.
