That’s very short-sighted. So many good things can be improved upon. It doesn’t have to be something brand new.
And infrastructure bays. The Upwell BR has become my go-to for PI collection.
Which we were already using blockade runners and deep space transports for. Like I said, nothing new was added, except a gimmicky missile feature.
A Deathless suicide frigate (actually goes “boom” when armed)…
A covert cloak-capable SoE battlecruiser…
A Edencom command ship that boosts the Edencom weapon range and damage per target…
Yes, there are a few ships that could be added that simply don’t exist. For example, there is no SoCT cruiser and, like you said, there’s no SOE battlecruiser.
An EDENCOM command ship would be hilariously OP. Fun, but OP. As it is, all I have to do is warp to an anom in my Stormbringer, zap zappity zap, and 20 seconds later everything is dead. Would be fun though.
Personally, the only thing I was excited about was the Freelance thing, at least until I found out more about it. Turns out it’s nothing more than a recruitment tool for nullsec. CCP had an opportunity to introduce something for everyone and could have used it as a way to expand upon the decades-old mission system. But nope, as per usual they screwed the pooch.
Yeah, Freelance really perked my enthusiasm, too… which had all but evaporated by Saturday afternoon.
Same here, except with the provision that any time I see something hopeful coming from CCP, I just assume in advance they’re going to do their usual design process: “we had an interesting idea but don’t worry, we’ll destroy it long before it reaches the server”.
They’ve just repeated that loop too many times now to expect anything else.
That said, once in a rare while they manage to stumble through the design process without completely botching it. Corporate projects is one example, that didn’t look so hot when it came out but they eventually iterated on it enough to make a useful feature.
Freelance jobs has potential, although the current form is a severe disappointment from the teaser text.
TBH if I had to point to one thing that’s driven more players away from the game than any other factor over the years… it’s the way CCP keeps promising they’ll deliver some cake, but end up serving a mud pie. Over and over again.
What I say for years: “EVE doesn’t keep it’s promises”, thats why most players leave after a short while.
That begins with small features but reaches out to the whole concept of “build your own empire”.
Build your own empire indeed…
And in that case you improve the existing ships, having a slightly different missile isn’t enough to really justify adding a whole new ship/class, you have to bring something new to the table in the form of a useful mechanic, its why we didn’t simply get T2 HAC sized BS when that was an easy thing to do seeing as they did it with cruisers
BLOPS and marauders added an extra spin on things and did things that other ships of the same size couldn’t do
Iterational improvements are great, but they don’t really need a whole new platform to exist before they can be improved
Yes, but the Deluge combined the benefits of both, with fast align, cloaking, and a hefty (but specialized) cargo bay. I used to have to choose between making multiple PI collection runs in a Crane or making one long, slow run in a Bustard. Now I make one quick run in a Deluge to collect everything and take it to market. Very convenient.
I’m just saying, credit where credit is due. Even a broken clock is right twice a day, and every once in a while CCP gives us something useful.
That means it’s wrong 1,438 times per day, or 99.86% of the time.
Not a great selling point…
I like my Upwell ships. Although if it weren’t for the new Skyhook mechanics I doubt that we’d have ever seen them.
Do they have any that aren’t “industrial”?
Nope. Just the ships and modules.
I wish they were a bit more usable in different areas rather than being a bit of a one trick pony.
100%
I’d love an Upwell Marauder
