Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread - Part Deux!

Less ratting, less isk, more plex buying. Less mining, less industry, smaller ship combat, more mods needed, more isk needed, more plex buying. This is CCP goal.

Maybe, but I dont think they will get either. Would be nice to see the Plex sales statistics

Maybe blackout is simply that they broke the chat system and they do not have the skills or expertise to fix it, so they just removed it and called it Chaos to make up for the fact they have stopped development on the game.

I dont really feel guilty for dogging CCP so hard. CCP Seagull and Guard (and Fozzie) portrayed indepth understanding of the game focusing on making it interesting, balanced and FUN and the importance of meaning to it allā€¦ seems like the new crew want a shallow gank festā€¦

So since i spent so much money over the yearsā€¦ I LITERALLY CANNOT DOG YOU HARD ENOUGHā€¦ but i will try

Like i saidā€¦ Iā€™d just ban meā€¦

Iā€™m more worried about the possibility that the CSM are very active and very useful, and have been keeping CCP from doing much, much worse.

Yep. Sā€™kinda why we want a healthy game in all sections of space, you know? Weā€™re just not gonna roll over and leave ourselves vulnerable if we can avoid it, though.

Non-artificially? No, of course there isnā€™t. Thatā€™s what societies do. They stabilize. But if CCP wants the conflict to continue so it can keep us from stabilizing, they need to get rid of the crap that keeps people from fighting even a major defensive war.

And thatā€™s supercapitals, and how necessary they are to life in nullsec.

This has to be the stupidest idea Iā€™ve ever read on the internet. The whole internet. And Iā€™ve read our forums.

First, you need new players to be coming into the game. We need more new players to be coming into the game. Your proposal would do immediate and lasting harm to the number of people playing the game. Not only would you crater new player retention even farther than it currently isā€¦ but ganking in rookie systems gets you banned. Itā€™s not allowed.

AHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAAHAHAAHAH.

No, no, Fozzie really doesnā€™t understand nearly as much as he likes to smugly claim. If he did, he, specifically, wouldnā€™t have insisted trollceptors wouldnā€™t be a thing. He, specifically, wouldnā€™t have said ā€˜we know the Rorqualā€™s OP, but weā€™re gonna do it anyway. We can dial it back, itā€™ll be fine.ā€™ He, specifically, would not have assured everyone that no, of course Ventures wouldnā€™t get used in FW.

Donā€™t go citing Fozzie for ā€˜in-depth understandingā€™.

Youā€™re funny!

CCPā€™s actions are doing exactly the same as you: Showing that new players are what matters while harming the numbers of experienced ones.

Not so fast!. It is allowed with some restraints. Of course!, Burn Jita & Co. read the EULA on every single gank and thousands got banned! Yeah, right!

I think weā€™re smarter than that and can stretch the neck over the EULA line and see that 30 days old character is perfectly killable, anywhere! So, it does possibly gets you in trouble but not as you state it.

And if it was the case, cherrypicking the proposal gets absolutely nowhere. Saying that itā€™s the stupidest idea doesnā€™t even qualify as sarcasm.

Maybe you think leaving the game is a better idea in which case, the proposal is not for you and the door is open.

But maybe you have friends and would like to keep them and perhaps use EVE as a vehicle to do so, like any other MMO.

I have to inform that the proposal is LEGAL and STANDS. Donā€™t like it? come with a better solution. This forum is waiting for your call. Use your experience constructively.

On the other hand, I am giving you CHAOS. ā€¦ you?

Ganking in and around Jita is not ā€˜rookie systemsā€™.

I think that our response as players is not going to fix anything. No matter what our response is. CCP has to come to terms with the idea that randomly throwing crap at the wall isnā€™t fixing anything, and itā€™s not going to fix anything. ā€˜Quick fixesā€™ donā€™t work. And thatā€™s all they are interested in. Consider this on the FW Discord:

What they are looking forā€¦ all they are looking forā€¦ is ā€˜quick FW fixesā€™. Donā€™t get me wrong, major kudos to @CCP_Rise for looking at stuff outside of his work hours. But quick fixes are what has caused all of this. Quick fixes on top of quick fixes, for over 10 years.

Enough of the quick fixes. How about actually fixing things?

Three major focuses:
Nullsec: Supercapitals and Entosis Warfare are fundamentally antithetical to an active, fluid nullsec map. Supers got rebalanced after the Halloween War to make them ā€˜lessā€™ able to take on literally anything out there, only thatā€™s exactly the opposite of what happened, because Space Superiority Fighters, Sirens, Dromis, Titan HAWs, etc. Entosis is pure tedium, and a terrible way to try to distribute a major conflict throughout a constellation, and it forces people to control at least a whole constellation.

Lowsec: For the love of god, fix FW. Deal with the ability to deploy cits in hostile FW systems. Deal with the farmers. Itā€™s Faction Warfare, FFS, not Faction Farmville. Make the most profitable option actually defeating enemy players in reasonably-even contests. Thatā€™s gonna mean actually being able to track who has how many logistics, the way you guys have been promising for half a decade now.

Highsec: JFC, find someone who knows how to make engaging PvE. Give all of empire a number of actual storylines that use procedurally-generated content to keep people moving through them without being repetitive and without being easily-optimized. The most common problem any faction within one of the empires should be having isnā€™t pirates, and it isnā€™t enemies, itā€™s rivals. Rival megacorps in the State (or even rival corps within a Mega), rival Tribes or Clans in the Republic, rival damned-near-anythings in the Fed, political and economic rivalries between minor Houses (and occassionally, cadet/obscure branches of Royal Houses) in the Empire. Use basic story concepts to provide frameworks for serial progress through procedurally-generated individual missions.

I do like your post, except for one thing. I personally think the entosis is one of the best things CCP has come up with and one item they should keep.

Youā€™re entitled to your opinion, but the vast majority of people who actually have to do Entosis warfare hate it. Itā€™s a terrible substitute for an actual fight. Itā€™s boring and tedious, and the most optimal response options are using groups of interceptors attempt to rapidly volley off the entosiser, or groups of Griffins to jam them out. Neither one is actual engagement, itā€™s just intended to exacerbate the tedium.

The counterplay is to use either Force Auxiliaries or Dreads to do the entosising, which either shuts down all effective response, or produces escalation that brings an excessive focus on a single conflict pointā€”exactly the thing Entosis warfare was supposed to prevent.

And itā€™s still better than the old deathballs on a POS.

Donā€™t get me wrong, itā€™s awful and needs a lot of work, but itā€™s so much better than it was. Some of the best fights Iā€™ve had was during wanding warfare, but that was when Circle of Test was still a thing and there were nullseccers with some testicular fortitude still around.

Itā€™s better than ā€˜drop a bunch of sentry carriers/supers on a posā€™, sure. Actual subcap fleets fighting over a POS, though? Yeah, gimme that any day of the week over this crap.

Eh, they were almost never good fights though. Massive lag fests, game borkd more often than not. At least fozziesov spreads the load out a bit, and tidi takes care of the rest. I like some PvP in my PvP and spending more time fighting the client is bleh.

However bad sov wanding is, thereā€™s really no aspect of the old sov warfare that wasnā€™t worse as far as Iā€™m concerned.

Your entire fleet wasnā€™t sitting on its thumbs while a few people did the work and everyone else just wondered why the hell they needed to be there.

Return the local chat !!!. Or completely turn off local chat and ALL APIs transmitting data on the activities of players!!! Why is it easier for pvp players than pve players? Why do you provide data on the killing of NPCs in the systems, but do not provide anything for the players in response? Turn off any alerts about player activity at zeros. Why should I play in unequal conditions between pve and pvp players? I want a fair game, if you turned off the local chat with me, then turn off the function about killed NPCs and Cyno involved on the map of Eva and Dotlan !!!

they do not understand that some of us are not interested in PvP. People who just like making ISK and have fat wallets either by running anoms or mining and other stuff in nullsec are also humiliated by some other people in the forums. And many so called PvPers who is after easy kills are happy because humble people like me cannot see them before they are on the grid. Well, I am a causal player who plexes his accounts with ISK. I do not use bots but run combat sites in a paladin. I started the game running missions in hisec and now I can go back to doing that, I thinkā€¦

If you are not willing to defend yourself and others in nullsec, you shouldnā€™t be in nullsec. Itā€™s not safe. The only safety you should find out here is the safety you can make.

ok. i will keep that in mind. thanks

I honestly thought there was no need to explain why BO and new comers are unrelated. I am finding it hard to understand why are some so adamant towards relating numbers and the BO. (especially on the interview) I hope someone would explain it to me in short, because I just donā€™t get it.

Since when does a real new player has knowledge about what a BO is, so enough, that he can conclude:

ā€œwoooaaah yeah! There is a Blackoutā€¦ Time to Play this New MMO I have never played and has a section of the territory in a recently adopted condition that doesnā€™t allow capsuleers to know who is in the systemā€¦ yeeesss! This is the game for meeee!!! I was waiting for something like the Blackout to download and play EVE Online! This is my chaaanzzzzz uuuuuuuuuuuh!ā€

Absolute BS!

Those busy fetching the reasons for numbers here, go find the real reason. There must be other stuff behind such decision. If thereā€™s something BO can bring from outside, itā€™s people WHO ALREADY KNOW THE GAME!

In which case:

ā€œwooooooaaaaaaaah sshhheeeeaaaah! There is a Blackooouutā€¦ Time to go back and Play this Old MMO I used to and has no Null Local so I can get in there finally and rooaaaaamm to get those eaazeeeeee killlsss I could never geeeet, or, orā€¦ aaaaaahhh sheeeaaah!, mine in seecreeeet, cuz, cuz no one knooowszzz Iā€™m in theeeere ā€¦ yeeesss! This is finally the game for meeee!!! I was waiting for something like the Blackout to download and play EVE Online! Agaiiinn This is my chaaanzzzzz uuuuuuuuuuuh!ā€

Or join Goons.

Iā€™m kidding, juust kiddingā€¦

Jokes aside, I dare to say, itā€™s the SP diarrhea.

Oh, and I still want that WAR! (more than seeing my friends go.)
