wao o.o this thread went quiet faaaaaaar away from its … topic since i was last time in here (was on vacation). i would love a blackout again … but please this time without drifters flopping with their doomsday lasers around.
it really isnt.
‘‘almost’’
not really as most wormholers try to fight larger gangs where as most nullsec bloc types wont undock until they vastly outnumber the opposition; Why pretend otherwise?
Falcons are not really broken.
Sure when using them on an alt they may seem broken because its easy to get caught when not paying attention… but defo not broken. We used two to help defend our wormhole the other week and they worked great, we just kept our distance and warped off if/when needed.
numbers are skewed 'cus we changed ships a bit. Drek gang was annoyed but meh, they brought in 5 tech 2 force multipliers (guardians)
We only used two… and a couple of scorpions and t1 griffin.
Griffin navy however is defo broken (ecm bonus wise).
My bad - the Falcon is the force recon, I mean Combat Recon
I fly mostly solo in WH - favorite ship used to be the Rook, since the changes if you get within tackle range you die.
- Distuptor + MWD don’t have enough cap/ to slow to kite.
- Scram + AB not enough tank as ECM that used to be tank does not actually do anything to the target.
You could try AB + Scram + Burst Jam but not enough power grid or Cap unless you swap both tank & damage rigs/modules to provide it - then you just end up lacking damage & tank .
So … Broken – The Rook no longer has solo combat role, however if you fit Emission Scope & Memetic rigs with a Zeugma analyser you can hide while you hack but 400 mill is an expensive build for something a Heron can do.
oh for solo work yeh, ecm is pretty pointless
Tho if you want to screw with peeps using trig ships to grind your structures - 4 heavily tanked scorpions with burst jams, target lock breaker & 2 sebos one with eccm script is the best troll fleet ever.
Trig ships are overpowered…
LLLLOOOOOLLLLLL
True - The only one I trained into was the Nergal…& that was cause i liked the name
Do you have a clue on how much more complexity that would add to the most basic ship fits?
Amarr ships traditionally don’t have enough mids for a decent shield fit, just as Caldari don’t have enough lows for armour. Start adding modules so all factions can either shield or armour fit would cause so much more confusion. It would also break the whole concept of faction fitting or flying a ship type because it has bonuses to X fitting.
Your idea has merit, IF you want every ship in the game to be the same.
True, CCP have said for years they didn’t want to have “power creep” break things so came up with a new class of ship that made just about every other doctrine pointless.
Sure, how many people do you know would give up 4 or 5 hours of their game play to light a cyno twice. How many players do you know would travel 30 or 40 jumps in a Hauler to light a cyno twice for someone else.
Alts are used because it is the most efficient way to get a mundane boring time consuming task completed.
I’m 8 jumps to lowsec to get my JF to highsec - that’s 9 people i need to find willing to give up their time [4 or 5 hours (at least) depending on what I’m doing in highsec] so i can play my chosen play style… Of course they can’t actually play the game while doing cyno work for me because they are stuck in some random station in a hauler.
Seems fair to me.,.
Not really.
First the bonus’s are there to guide, and second it should be possible and viable (Even maybe equally for all factions). If all races got changes that were generic, for example, like amarr reps being swapped to “armor and shield bonus” then it would actually remove a lot of complexity.
how many times do we see people playing amarr on the kb’s with shield fitted ships?
Its actually slightly deceptive to new players. Most people dont pay attention to a lot of the fine prints (like bonus’s) Which is why we see things like shield tanked amarr ships.
that being said, i still think some ships should naturally (as in their base states, not bonus’s) be inclined to specific positions.
to give a number example
If amarr are 10/10 armor tanks now, and 1/10 shield tanks, we should move them to being something like 8/10 and 4/10 respectively.
Yes, it would remove a lot of complexity but at that point why have multiple separate factions? Aren’t you supposed to understand basic game design concepts like this?

It’s not deceptive at all. Do you even understand what the word “deceptive” means?
PS: sacrificing gameplay depth and long-term interest to make it impossible for newbies to screw up their fitting choices is a really stupid idea.
Heh. Suuuuuure they do. As long as the larger gang are all in unarmed mining ships.
Hooo boy. well, that’s definitely more radical than the change I suggested. I guess I meant “truly radical” compared to the usual pace of change when it comes to old systems like targeting. Egad!
I think your ideas are interesting but most would probably be better for a new “EVE 2” or… dare I say it, an Elite: Dangerous or Star Citizen type game. Not sure many of them would work on EVE 1.
As for the BOB stuff and everything, yes I’ve read the history and heard from people who were closer to it than myself… I haven’t participated in anything on that level, but each of our EVE lives has some history to it. Don’t judge the rest of us just because we started playing after those super early days in game, there’s been plenty of interesting things to take part in as of the past 5 to 10 years, too.
Anywho, don’t have much to say about the rest of the specific things in your latest point, but… this all started about multiboxing versus… not multiboxing. And about you talking like all multiboxers are botting. And… we’ve both drifted so far off-topic now that while an interesting potential convo, it’s just… so off the rails now. Anyway, good talking to you. Thanks for not being flamey back at me if I sounded defensive about you attacking us multiboxers (hey! we’re just human* like anyone else, we can take offense to things sometimes).
(* - get it? get it?! ;D)
And… if you’re just trolling, btw. Well played.
OH i am not, i am just saying the game was insanely fun back then. It felt big, and it felt more… real i guess. It was good because of things that dont exist anymore, or because it did not have things that are in the game now (like massive passive income generators).
I only troll in a boat… Ask the fish.
Suuuuuure. We all enjoy a good trolling now and then. It’s kinda what the internet was built for… intentionally or unintentionally.
Yeah, I’m sure the game was very fun back then. It’s also fun to read about what happened back then for those of us who weren’t there for it. I, myself, first found out about EVE while reading a webcomic that was mostly about Team Fortress 2 and Starcraft back in the 00s… when the artist drew the day’s panels about the Goons vs. BOB dealie and I was all… “hmm? what’s this?”
But yeah… was mostly playing TF2 back then in EVE’s earlier days. Still… better late than never to the party. The party that… never ends?
Don’t feel too bad, Naari hasn’t been around that long either. He’s a notorious liar and narcissist who won’t shut up about his “game” he’s making that will totally kill EVE. TBH, you’ve probably got more EVE experience than he does.
No. Just no.
hell no
