Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread - Part Deux!

All I want to know is when is this ending.

is it? We shall see…

The rent frees you from having to worry about keeping your Ihub(s) save from attacks and it allows you to use infrastructure throughout the region(s) that you otherwise would not be able to have (like jump bridges far-reaching intel channels, among other things). And you are, to some degree, free from having to ultra deep-vet your new recruits because you are just a renter.
The only things that you are reasonably not allowed to do as renter are super capital production and shooting blues. The first is for good reason (even though some rental groups allow it if you sell to your overlords) and as a small entity without the means to defend your Sotiyo you couldn’t do it anyway. And the second goes without saying and if you were a small group that wants to use their space without getting camped in all the time, you wouldn’t do that to your potentially neutral neighbors anyway. Plus, depending on where you live you would need lots of blues or NAP/NIPs to be able to do logistics.

While I can agree that renting is not ideal, it is far from the worst thing that has ever happened.

We did a little frigate roam yesterday in Delve. That was fun we’ve killed things and get killed in the end. A good evening. Thanks imperium. NS is not dead and now it is fun.

In many places, you get access to a specific system or two, and told to stay in your pocket. And no, it doesn’t free you from having to keep your ihub safe. It only frees you from being able to have any actual control over what upgrades get installed. And if something happens to it? Suck it up until the landlord feels like putting a new one down.

It’s pretty high up there. You want something like what you described? Go to Provi. Help out with the defense force when needed.

I haven’t been down to null to experience yet, but I can tell you from a seasoned PVP point of view that so, SO many players are giving the game a try because of this change. This counters bots in null better than probably any other single change in EVE. People can roam in null and not ALWAYS appear on some intel channel because someone docked in a station can just see that they pop in. People who are used to passive gameplay are now being forced to check their D-scan, and I think that is a good thing. CCP killed my content months ago with the changes to highsec, but now I’m willing to try EVE again because small group/solo PVP is viable again. Honestly I think most of the people that are against this change are those passive, risk-averse players that don’t want to go through the trouble of checking d-scan, nor do they want PVP content much whatsoever. EVE has needed a conflict driver that would benefit the smaller groups for a long time, and this certainly does it. People can roam into Goon space and have some fun. Sure, some ‘renters’ or smaller groups might suffer, but that is because they no longer have the instant protection of their overlords and they no longer can play EVE with extremely minimal effort/presence. I hope this change is permanent, albeit with necessary adjustments, as all things need over time.

I was completely ready to let my subscription expire because the way I played the game was gone, but now this change revitalizes PVP in the game, and I can say I’ll be continuing to play EVE until this goes away.

You could always ‘sneak’ into areas, though your presence was known. You also could and still can sneak as a blue.

its not that they didnt have to scan you before or jump to each location. Having to repeatedly and continuously hit dscan degenerates the game experience, and still is an inadequate warning system since its limited to 14AU, doesnt detect cloacky and recon ships.

It could always

if you think that HS is most challenging after WH and NS is easy mode you have no clue.

No

No, some pvp might be more fun now because of the hype and the novelty, but will soon stagnate when no easy targets are around.

When PvE is basically a defenseless sitting duck, its a nobrainer not to want to add more challenges. Give PvE the ability of self defense against pvp and then sure, people can accept more challenges.

You are again wrong and have misconceptions of how safe null was. If ever local comes back I suggest you load a haueler with plex and come to null to enjoy its safety.

I remember playing Warhammer Age Of Reckoning back in the day and going up against some goonswarm people. Isn’t the story that ya’ll are part of some awful form and you just dogpile into every game?

nullsec has never been boring and we dont need the blackout to make it exciting.
Now has it become somewhat redundant? sure, but that is due to CEOs, alliance exec and coalition leadership being cozy with each other instead of looking to demolish the opponent. And it is not something blackout will change. Blackout, I will argue has made null sec even more boring and useless

Wanted to point out the cloaky loki topping the killboard over the sabre. Might be because of blackout…hmmm

Yes so blackout doesn’t kill NS like other nullbear cry about.

And it’s more fun because we don’t encounter much afk botter who instant warp when local blinks. It’s far more funier.

loki fleets

Idk, it is funny though. js

Null is EZ mode.
Lived there, got bored out of my gourd and moved to WH.
Maybe it’s hard for you, but then you have bigger problems than blackout.

The only thing I have to say is, CCP didn’t manage to fix the “botting” on their own so let the people deal with it. There are less people online, there are less people farming (people who I know ain’t botting!) and there are less NEUTS since the change. Telling us we are monitoring is kinda funny to, present some numbers to us I know already now that the 0-sec systems are in a minus when it comes farming and activity. Ofc we can say now its just because there ain’t bots anymore, I did farm 10 hours a day now I don’t even feel like doing 2 hours since there could be 100 people sitting next to me and I don’t even know it. (in a 22b ship it feels nice, I got 1 week ago a new keyboard u cant see my V button anymore). Ofc some high-sec people are happy now, they can get a kill when they decide one time a week to take a look at the 0-sec.
I did jump yesterday 60 jumps to find 2 people at 0-sec actually farming, I have nothing to say anymore just wow that was such a brilliant idea so brilliant that I will just not go in to the game until that thing is back.

I think CCP is running the blackout until the next update. Then my tip is that modules or structures are needed for the local. There are rumors about this already, e.g. here: https://everef.net/type/35905

Somewhere I read that the next update should come on 12.08.

If that is the plan, CCP needs stop smoking in back room, come out and announce it

there are a lot of unreleased structures that were added a long time ago. Them being in in the list doesn’t mean anything other than CCP tries and tests various things internally (wormhole stabilizer for example). They may never be implemented.

I believe taht botting/wealth cunalation has to be very severe that CCP decided to make such drastic steps like BO. However i believe that it wil have positive longterm impact on the game.

Though CCP should make same adjustments to ease up the change like continously updating D-scan or show number of people in system without revealing their identity etc.
