I unsubbed over a year ago, in part because i lost my space bros, but also because of the 100 reasons they all stopped playing together.
This made me very very happy, i really hope this comes together i’ll be keeping very close eye on this, it might be enough already, but i also need my mojo to come alive again
Thank you :D. Finnally less idiotic bots and better PVP in Null. the only people complaining are those that was the easy rattin life. Comon get good and learn D-scan you’ll be fine. well unless i show up xD. but now people wont know what groups are rolling through all the time either. Thank you CCP please dont make it a duration make it a permanent change!
First off only a botter would defend the bots anyways xD. second no they Use local thats been known to every WH group in existance sooo yeah their Nul scrubs
The advantage will be tipped towards the hunter. The risk will be to high while the rewards arent worth the time.People will consolidate accounts. Some super-ratters and rorqs will consolidate to a few systems around the umbrella. Others will leave to high sec, most will quit. Newer characters will be hit the most, the gap between vets widens. new player retention drops dramatically.
Empire building is now to difficult, very few want to go there, another part of the sandbox disappears. Vast swathes of nullsec and lowsec are now deserted, hunters complain that they have no more targets …
Considering that Delve alone was responsible for the market price crash of minerals and the reversal of the Trit-Pyerite price (Trit used to be cheaper than Pyerite, you know?) and that they have even been able to outproduce The Forge, they are very much capable of manipulating the market. They are also the least affected by the local changes because of this.
Higher mineral prices mean that your production is more expensive than theirs. If they really start to export hundreds of AF, HAC, Ceptors, even T1 ships to the hubs and sell them for prices that high sec or other sector productions cannot compete with, your higher ore prices mean nothing because fewer people will buy these things. And considering that Delve produces a lot, this scenario is very likely to take place. They don’t even need total control of market categories. Just ruining the prices enough for extended periods of time suffices. IT is already pointless to build freighters, command ships, many logis, some HAC because prices on the market are often times under production cost (structure, low index system, no tax even).
And less cap blobs? You know that caps are being built by null sec for null sec and subsidized heavily by null sec, and they don’t care about at all about Jita mineral prices? Not, well now you know. You are in for a fun time once this all comes to fruition.
The advantage is always to the person trying to avoid the fight instead of the person trying to force the fight. This is no different. Just as local used to alert you to a potential threat it also used to alert hunters to your presence.
I imagine ratting will actually be safer if you rat at anoms that are out of scan range from gates. Doubly so if you are not within scan range of the sun as well seeing as the most likely path for a hunter will be d-scan from ingate then d-scan from the center of the system to d-scan the outgate. Using d-scan on an entire system is very time consuming and a very low rate of return if your targets get wind of you. Large systems in particular will be ideal for safe PvE (100 AU across or more).
Furthermore, if I’m hunting your ship I have to “hit” multiple times on d-scan continually narrowing focus and angle until I work out where you are. If you “hit” on me or one of my probes even one time that’s enough for you to know to move. Combat probes will be a quick way to get a very low resolution idea of what is in space but you can see probes on d-scan and fitting cloaks and combat probes are high slots not dedicated to damage, neuting power or some other upgrade making the ships less nasty than they could be. In addition if you are not at 0 on a warp-in where there is no acceleration gate and you are aligned out ahead of time the chances that I can decloak and catch you before you warp should be zero. I have a decloak delay plus lock time before I can hold you, you are gone with one button. If you don’t want to do any of this, do what I do:
Be prepared to accept the consequences of your inattention.
Sometimes I or my alts lose ships because I’d rather leave the client running while I watch a movie, it’s fine, just move on.
Lastly, it seems to me that null sec is not gone and there are people that will use it regardless of the no local thing. YOU might not, but to assume you speak for EVE as a whole is completely incorrect. Further it seems to me the natural relocation of any null sec players that don’t want to deal with no local will relocate to low sec not high sec. You’ll like it, you’ll get your free intel channel back and you’ll even get some measure of CONCORD protection from gate guns.
When NS threatens to embargo HS. Literally nothing will happen. I think they’ve forgotten about moon fracks rofl. At most it’d drive prices up a whopping 10%, very spooky. You’d do more damage just burning jita for a month, but you know you won’t because it’ll result in permabands.
TL;DR NS lost their intimidation factor years ago. You’re all suckling puppies. Adorable. Go mine some rocks now and don’t forget to clear those havens
I’ve had time to think about it and discuss with my null mates, and we’re not liking it one bit. We feel player interaction will drop off considerably. We often recruit from local, but now we won’t see them to start up a convo. All pvp will become more difficult and need more scouts, which small null corps just don’t have, mining will become more risky resulting in less supply of basic ores and materials, and more expensive to buy. Why are you doing this? what are you trying to achieve? I’ll wait to see how it plays out before I unsubb, but many people I speak to are planning to unsubb and play as alphas…but they’ll get bored with no progression and start playing Albion or something like it.
No, seriously. We kill some guy and if they want to convo with us after we’ll offer advice, tips and sometimes even corp invitations. Assuming everything looks good in the ESI check we get a new pilot along with their collection of alts.
You guys act like it’s the end of the world, but there is already an entire type of space where this is the smallest worry and we still manage to mine, rat and otherwise survive. As long as you too can learn to adapt and grow you’ll be able to do it too.
yeah yeah we do that too, killed a neutral in a fleet once, and before the fleet was over, he was in corp and in the fleet. If I wanted to live in J-space, I would, but I don’t that’s why I live in null…may have to move into low and push the pirates out…might be fun, but still don’t know why?
A single gate transition can be seen as the animation flashes, and can be heard from over 3000 km’s away. A 10 man fleet taking a gate is going to be hard to miss on an overview.
Does this change impact the giant super umbrella that protects a lot of the major blocks in the slightest?
This change is going to favour the few, not the many.
It will impact some more than others, those it impacts the least are the ones who already have the fruits of this advantage. If a high percentage of the ‘farmers’ and ‘miners’ are already out doing their trade, the only place to get more ‘eyes’ on the gates to mitigate this change will be from the PvP contingent. It is doubtful that those in here who believe the blackout will bring a bounty of content will be the ones willing to guard their fellow members. If Pandemic Legion is any example, groups that fail to balance their PvP with PvE are going to struggle to remain relevant as they will eventually find themselves in conflict with groups possessing much deeper pockets.
No, the same people who are profiting today will be profiting even more so the next. The only way there is any reward for the small people is they’ve got massive stockpiles ready to cash in when prices spike. Even then it will be a temporary gain, but in the least it might fund their movement into the next profitable meta.
At some point the hikers stop going to that part of the forest and the bears have to go back to eating honey and berries.
Apparently it needs to be said again. No local chat ≠ Wormhole space. So when you say “if I wanted to live in wormhole space I’d have moved there” your being ignorant and stupid. No local chat is BY FAR the least consequential feature of wormholes and also not even the most noticeable one. You can argue with me about this once the only way in and out of a null system is via periodically randomized gate connections with mass limitations.
I’d still argue that the connection holes are the first thing you interact with every time you log in therefor making them the most noticeable. Plus most people’s first experience with wormholes is when they’re in hisec before low and null trains them to use local. Should go without saying of course that the most consequential feature is tied between the lack of asset safety and the constant need to update exits. No local doesn’t even come close there.
