Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

Give me a solution to everyone docking up because I fly through a system 4 jumps away in a Rifter…
Not because someone spotted me while actually playing either. Free intel is just bad.
At least if it was provided via a structure, then someone had to put effort and resources into it and its at risk by existing.

It is only free from your view you would think with technology as it was explained had this ability and that was local it was like a friend or foe device , the fact people think it does not belong is a after thought to its original purpose in the game, I think a greater issue is how bots use it shamelessly rather then a active pair of eyes on the screen it was hard to get a kill yes but PVP players managed again every day maybe some peoples skills just need to be sharper.

That is what communications do even in real Combat and I have been in it, you relay the enemies position that is a part of war response to counter action. Or is that jsut to much realism.

People are likely getting confused with the dotlan aggregate and the in-game map that is powerful and detailed.

One is, can you see Blue? If you see anything but blue, dock up. The other requires probing, D-scanning, and clever use of renaming one’s ship to something else.

Yes and the corpal tunnel you will get from having to mash the V key and still then a cloaker can drop on you without any warning

If PvP is so 31337, why does target selection work like doing a chart in excel rather than having to point your ship around like in COD? That’s the difference.

Go to delve, there’s lot of people there. They would love to show you some PvP right to the face.

It IS free intel. You just get it automatically.
Like I said, I would support it being provided by a structure. I also would support a sov holder seeing who has passed thru gates in their space (logically this would be the case), but have it be a feature that could be attacked.
But if you enter a system another way, then also logically you would have to be detected by actual spotting or d-scan.
I do support some compromise ideas, I’m just opposed to the “omnipotent” aspect of how it works now.

Because EVE is spreadsheets online?

Actually the total losses for the period are very similar.
The unknown (without more effort) is HOW they each accrued those losses.

When was the last time you had a spreadsheet open and someone walked past and said ‘Hey, that’s some 31337 PvP there.’

No they don’t. What they love is to cyno in half the alliance for your 3 man gang. That or just dock up.
Not much pvp actually happening in null.

You never heard it called “spreadsheets online”, eh? I didn’t make it up.

CCP’s Blackout fills the thread with determination.

Or combat probes where you ignore the friendly ships

I can agree with like craft that come through WH, on a severe delay or being scanned out, so we both make some good points. BUt yes gate control would and has l;ike automated systems that are like pilot masters in a port , Traffic is highly regulated and noted, but people have to remember the past and how the gates themselves were explained and so on. Tactical coordination is the mark of any good corp.

Yes you relay, but you don’t have a magic omnipotent robot that detects all objects within 20AU automatically. Not even close to the same. People can still relay info, so I’m not sure how that’s relevant.
In real combat you don’t get free intel, so bad example.

You gain a brief cash grab along with a brief pvp slaughter fest for all . Followed by a huge number of your paying population permanently quitting, and make no mistake, if its lasts more then a week or two we will quit.

Please quit. So tired of listening to nullbears trying to muscle CCP by threatening to quit.
Just quit for FFS, or don’t, because likely you still won’t.

Funny you know but sadly this change is likely to just fizzle out with no REAL change.
The biggest deterrent that stops people (large groups) fighting is the fear of losing.
Removing local ISN’T going to change that, all it will do is see smaller groups punished by small groups of lete PVPr’s while the bloks continue on and get richer of yet another poor decision by CCP…

If CCP were serious about asset destruction there are better ways to force it - While the largest groups in the game can do what they do with near complete safety - The game is going to stay stagnant - WWB needs to find a way back, there are enough rich ass players out there to fund it - Just do it. Everybody dies - Everybody spends isk - Everybody wins, Even the losers.
