Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

They only do it when it safe, otherwise they bail.
What makes them better than krab miners then?
Nothing!

So now CCP can falsify pvp activity, how they falsified new player retention on gank data.

ED: Now we can also tell which CSM leaked by knowing who downloaded zkill dumps for their intel tool.

You are really mentally challenged, aren’t you?

We are in the dark boy’s and nothing will come to save us, just us and everything that lurks in the shadows.

Nah I bet zkill is only available to those who paid in advance.

Obviously CCP contacted the guy and asked him to roll play with the event :]. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see that.

CCP will make a decision based on their metrics, while I am not keen on this as an overall balance I sort of understand why they did it.

I also happen to think that this penalises active players and make it easier for the lazy and correctly defined ganktards to hunt.

There is a risk, because it is easier to hide baits and counter drops and that could be fun.

I think Zkill going dark is good news in one sense, but bad in terms of seeing incoming fleets. I think with that most people like yourself should just log in, and just place scouts on the gates and scan out WH’s and watch as all those frustrated hunters can’t find anything to shoot, have fun laughing at them floundering around. By the way, all that other data there has to go too.

And if it was me I would remove bounties too.

Bad if that was the case.

What do you think it the case? it’s not like the database has gone anywhere, so it’s still usable, just not by people who can’t be trusted to not rat out, and pay up.

ED: And I bet CCP knows how little pvp activity is it gonna bring, and is preparing to falsify. No data to confirm means there can be no trust in whatever they say now.

Is it just part of the Drifter event or is it actually an attempt to change nullsec for good behind a thin veil of roleplay?

Both :] its a test by CCP so they can gather data and see how it effects the players, if it works out better for the game it’ll become permanent.

Ok CCP now you can play by yourself in this dead game. I can not take this anymore.

At least this will separate the boys from the men in Null-sec. The difference between those who raise to the challenge and those who run away.

I don’t fly bling! and you have quite the imagination there, my station reference was because that’s about what it takes to kill drifters without dying in one shot! or losing a super because you’re insta pointed / webbed from 100km+ … just not worth it!

CCP Missed out on an opportunity to make a sick cinematic trailer for blackout. Imagine a few roaming hopefuls in space, they’re all communicating, one opens up an in-ship equivalent to local and then it starts distorting until black out. etc

Maybe its still coming

Why would they do that? The thing is that a lot of people will not log in, and others will stop doing anything. But they will have people roaming around and maybe some of them will blunder into each other. It is not entirely doom and gloom.

The game suffers from excess, it does need shaking up. What this does is make people gang up instead of doing solo activity if they don’t want to be an easy kill, it changes things a lot in nullsec, it might even work. Still as I pointed out the balance between hunter and prey is too much in the favour of the hunters and makes it too easy. And I don’t like the fact that people sitting around waiting to activate cyno’s are going to get an easy ride of it. I am not so bothered with roaming gangs.

If CCP could have done something about the other intel and weakened cyno’s I would be on board with this, but I am prepared to give CCP the benefit of the doubt even though it breaks it for me as a solo or small group player. As I am in hisec and have been for a while I can sit and watch it as it unfolds.

The blackout isn’t going to help those that couldn’t PVP before, they are sadly mistaken because it’s only going to make it even harder for them to find targets … they’ll most likely find bait and lots of it!
