Finding the change interesting, but understanding some routines will become dull and tedious or will require big adaptation.
Miners will have it HARD. For proper mining, ships are usually slow and require to be still, slow orbiting a rock at close as much, making them great targets for shadow hunters (recons, cloacks). Mining in small ships, like frigs, is not profitable in null in my knowledge, but im no miner.
Ratting might be ok, but will be very dull with the constant v press. I find dscan optimal for every pvp point of view, but tedious for ratting… would be great if they added and active auto dscan every 10 or 15 seconds.
Adaptation is on the march. We nullsecers will be good no worries. But people indeed will play less and unsub secondary accounts indeed.
Reasons? New ratting and mining will require more resources aka intel for proper running. When people dont have those resources in hand, be it being part of a small group, not counting with backup or being in a bad tz, no mining or ratting will be made, thats a fact, because it wont be profitable in terms of risk - isk.
For example. I spend my time engaging in combat with other people, ratting a bit in between until new fleets form. Since it will be more risky now, unless i find ways to make it (ratting) viable i just wont do it, logging off or changing to other game, until im pinged for next fleet.
Thats the matter, this change will make some people stop doing certain things in certain places, making it harder for casuals mostly.
This would be ok if disrupts botters, but not since it disrupts active players also.
Btw, some of the new ways of intel gathering or null system safe caring will be booooring as hell (same as pressing v while f1ing rats in an anom in fact), so again, expect people to slowly stop doing tedious stuff.
The hunter will be travelling in space properly managing his dscan in an active way, looking for targets… he is doing something, he is having fun… preys/defenders must stay in gates or citadels, since dscan nor probes reveal all modes of hunting… thats booooooooriiiiiiing.
In short. Blackout is interesting, but if it stays, not all players have the proper tools to deal with it. Some will have it easier. Some harder. Remember that if the prey desappears, so does the hunter.
As a side note. Those who say this will disrupt big blocks dont be ridiculous. This in fact strenghens them. Think in long term, not in short.
