Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

I doubt they would give it to me, haha, but I know I have logged on my accounts and not done much since it started (mostly because of work and school) but I’m sure there are plenty more like me waiting it out lol

About time.

Pearl Abyss is not behind this. They had nothing to do with it.

That still doesn’t mean 1 instance of each of Fri/Sat/Sun is enough to draw conclusions. Each day shows its own usage patterns. In order to have meaningful data, you’ll need 3 of each day from within the blackout.

That said, as I mentioned earlier, we’re running a consistent 10% below last week, and that kind of early pattern can generate a perception of long-term behavior that could further suppress activity, feeding itself. We should be aware of the potential here, but cautious about drawing conclusions.

Um, and just exactly how do you know that?

A number of different people within CCP and the CSM have said that PA is being very hands-off with them, in a totally non-GigX way. Hilmar himself said at EDU that he, personally, would rather try to shake things up and end up breaking something, than let things stay stagnant.

Well… he shook.

PAY TO WIN OF THE OLD ONLINE: CCP PROMOTING ONLINE FRAUD?
♦ Pay to win Free to play deception for the loot boxes
♦ 1 million SP for 4.99 USD to anyone even in a so called error this still happened
♦ Skins an starter packs
♦ PLEX operating exactly as if the FIAT TO PLEX TO ISK is a form of Crypto Currency without regulations
♦ One way purchase transactions without the option for refund for a "DLC" 'Downloadable Content' by which the only real product file which is for free is the EVE ONLINE Installer Client.
Therefore the "DLC" Is not a file redeemed on to file transferred from the servers to your hard rive for installation, archival for a legal personal backup.
♦ Customers which are dissatisfied with the performance of the product may not be eligible for a complete refund within the one way transaction system.
♦ PLEX is an item which is purchased then controverted into in game products and services.
♦ Server error within an in game transaction all the FIAT for PLEX is gone forever then owner was defrauded for me than an 'virtual Currency Digital Product'

CCP requires more than only an account subscription cancellation.
CCP must require an online boycott to reconsider how this is a MMO of a sandbox of many people an to short out the community by which so far from readings the split of not supporting the null sec blackout as by which is not advertised as the description for the services for entertainment as a service therefore may be a misrepresentation to the general public.
Players whom have subbed for 1 year without the noticed of at least 3 months in advance have simply lost all FIAT currency accredited to the eve online subscription at which may not be eligible for a refund when even in a partial refund for the poor product performance.
Most likely this post will also end up being deleted for this exact post was provided at the beginning of the forum release date.

Therefore eve online community.
Challenge CCP to the motives for the reasons an release the details an then to end the misrepresentation for the EVE ONLINE SOFTWARE PRODUCT AS ENTERTAINMENT SERVICE PLATFORM ON DEMAND.
CCP YOUR PRODUCT IS NOT AT THE ADVERTISED AN MARKETED SERVICE TO PERFORMANCE LEVEL.
CLASS ACTION SUIT ANYONE?

I think it would be an incredibly bad idea to push this past a week. If they wanted to test it appropriately, turning it back on for a week then back off would probably provide more favorable data by comparison, then simply extending it for a month and seeing what the data would be. If there is even a chance the player base is diminishing as a result, extension could cause irreparable harm, and frankly I think CCP leaving it open was a bad idea, people like certainty, so either all in or all out.

CCP banned 4000 accounts related to botting during the first 6 weeks of the year. I think some of you are underestimating how many bots are active in this game normally and how many might be inactive this weekend.

lol

You realise that only means it’s a piece of software used for entertainment purposes, that you need to connect to their servers to access, right? It doesn’t mean they entertain you when you demand it.

There is an economy? Didn’t that go out the window as soon as they introduced PLEX? I knew one idiot who literally laid out $10k USD on a new account so he could have a Super and a Rorq right away including all necessary skills. He was whining and bitching a day later over losing both.

One of the reasons why CCP would like the blackout is it would force more plexing to buy lost ships, because if they can’t mine them, they have to buy them. I think the blackout is more likely to cause damage to what is left of the economy, than it will benefit it.

Turning it on and off like that would produce amazingly bad data, in fact. By making it intermittent, you’re only getting consistent usage numbers about how people would respond to it being intermittent. If you want to know how people will react to it being consistent, you need it to be consistent. You need an extended period of time where it’s not only active, but where there is no projected end date.

Telling people when it’ll end, after all, would influence their response to it. ‘Can I just wait it out?’ If people know when it will end, or not be in effect, they’re more likely to try to only be active during the times that fit with their desires.

Let’s say you’ve got someone who isn’t thrilled by this, but ok, it’s EVE. HTFU, you know? So if it’s going to be the new normal for god knows how long, they’ll get on and do what they do. Just like they would if this is permanent. That’s good data.

The same person, if told ‘this will last 3 weeks and then is done’ might wait the 3 weeks. If they’re told ‘this will be in effect on alternating weeks’, they’ll play on the weeks when it’s not. But now CCP has no way of knowing whether or not they’d play if it was permanent. That’s bad data.

Where on mu hard drive is the DLC Installer located??
Therefore this is not’ Downloadable’ Content
The items are an in game item only.

And you believe everything they say?

Come on, this is CCP we’re talking about. Countless times they’ve said they will do this and then don’t along with saying they won’t do that and then they do it anyway.

It’s the thing you start up when you go to login. The launcher. That’s it.

Now you understand the purpose for my post of the legal applications for the advertised product.
Misrepresentation!

Then that would provide all the data you need. If people are coming back when it’s off, you know it’s not a widely accepted change. If they’re logging on and not doing anything (which is probably the largest and most meaningful chunk of data we’re missing) then again it’s indicative that the change is not widely accepted. Extending it or providing no end does accomplish one clear goal, when the people not doing anything start feeling like it’s not going to end, they finally unsub and don’t come back. That is a real risk, because retention is the key for any business model and people leaving always ends poorly, especially when the overall active player base has been diminishing for the last 3 years.
