Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

Can it spoat cloakies? No?
Then why are you even suggesting it?

Wormhole safe space tricks will never work in actually dangerous space nullsec is.

Actually, no. We got kills and found fights in the past, but recently things have been slowing down for both NPSI groups and null alliances. The unbreakable concentrations of resources in null have been terrible for the economy, and for finding fights. A lot of the time the risk isn’t worth it. The blue donut exists for a reason.
There should never be a boson titan on every gate and people using rorqs like they’re barges.

Then again, redistribute resources…increase resource requirements… plenty of other solutions that will mix things up and still keep them out and about and losing isk to further gameplay…

the issue isnt that theyre afk. its that they can afk for 12 hours undocked, then stop being afk for 5 minutes and be fully combat effective for cynos and hotdrops

Don’t you just love graphs of running averages.
The low-point showing when the least number of players are online is the highest its been for months,

I wonder what that indicates?

And again, until there is actually risk towards PvE and industry, which is currently almost non-existant, players will just semi-AFK and bot their way back up to where they were.
The fix is engaging gameplay, not increasing costs.
Capitals don’t exist in a vacuum, the entire economy is linked and everything uses the same resources besides T3s and Trig ships.

I’m not doing an averages graph.
I’m calculating sunday peaks, which are quite not average, at the moment when maximum amount of players want to play.
That is not averages.

So far it indicates the worst peak since 2006.

It should be worse than it is, according to lore the comms relay system is what resolves the red signatures into green anomalies - There scanner window should show them all as red and you should be required to scan them all down.-

about gorram time

You can scan cloaked ships when they drop cloak.

After all they have to drop cloak to use probes or use other ship modules.

Increase resource requirements? Brilliant! Hey little guys, now you not only have a massive supercap deficit relative to the big boys, but it will actually be even harder for you to get them than it was for them.

Enjoy pissing into the wind, folks!

The ONLY way you’re going to deal with botters is an active department for getting botters out of the game. That’s not something that’s unique to Eve, it’s in every game, there are entire people whose sole focus is figuring out ways to exploit vulnerabilities in a games framework or design. And changing resource location, such as moving not just the moon goo, but what’s in the belts is the only thing that has seen any significant increase or change in activity. Blackout so far has resulted from all evidence in a complete opposite which indicates its a bad change…

and yet that is the only solution…? You can’t take from the players that have been playing, they already pissed off much of the base with skill injectors…so the only way to make it harder for those who have been playing forever is to increase the requirements, plenty of other games do this with increased lvl caps and items ect. ect. ect…

The moment they drop cloak is the moment cyno is lit in your face. That is way too late - ganktards have almost bagged the free kill at that moment.
Therefore if you cannot detect it BEFORE this moment, it’s pointless.

they can be safe for 12 hours afk out in space. That shouldnt be allowed period. Thats the WHOLE argument against afk ratting.

They can “come back from being afk” and cyno in to kill whatever they want that got used to them being afk for so long.

So you’re saying that instead of making the game more interesting and engaging, we need powercreep.
Great, excellent solution.

“The only solution to massive supercap power disparity is to mechanically lock that disparity in for all time!”

Great stuff, it’s actually kind of curious that you’re seemingly incapable of operating in the blackout with that big 200IQ nullbear brain, there.

Moving resources isn’t a powercreep. It just requires blocks to move resources and expend resources to fund large scale war and logistics fleets…

says the guy whose been on this post from the start and still finds time to pip in a comment every 5 minutes lol

I understand. I dont think its a valid tactic. I can think of easy solutions to effectively eradicate cloaky camping overnight.

Like I said. Upwell structure that interferes with cloaks. Disables it after being active for an hour and forces a cooldown. would be a huge nerf.

Still allows someone to come into the system, use it and move on.
