Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

Congrats to CCP for having the courage to try something new with the Null Blackout. It is fantastic! Null is truly spooky and dangerous again. Fights are plentiful, and bots are dying in droves. 0.0 is FUN again!

I resubbed for this. Thankyou CCP!

Make it permanent!

Now the question is should CCP add the much rumored observatory? If so, how should that be balanced?

this is has been fantastic. and as far as the observatory, i have mixed feelings about that. On one hand yes, the NULL entity is controlling their own space. However on the other hand, they will just spam the structures and we are right back were we were.

Yes it’s absolutely fantastic, well except for the player count dropping by another 4k.

Whatever

U wot?

Either solid bait, or a shining example of why injectors need to die in a fire along with whoever suggested them as a concept.

The FTL Superfluid routers are what also transfers your consciousness to your next clone when you get podded… So what are you going to say next, that if podded your dead for good?

As for wormholes - they covered how a wormholer survives… They said when they introduced them, that the signal can travel through outgoing wormholes until it reaches a FTL network transceiver and transfers you through the normal network from there.

I would then assume that the signal can travel through the closed abyssal gates as well, because some link has to stay active for the gates to activate on both sides.

Eve lore is cheap bad pulp science fiction.

The lore is necessarily butchered for gameplay.

(although in this case, the necessity is debatable)

The lore is just warhammer-level bad

It’s not like its a radio signal. The data is transferred through quantum entangled helium atom pairs, meaning the distance can actually be almost infinite and yet the entangled pair should react instantly as the other entangled pair changes.

If you listened to the scope video, it says the routers are going into enforced restricted bandwidth mode, or ā€œlow power modeā€ so to speak. If anything, it makes sense, that the fluid router system prioritizes sending your brainwaves through the cosmos instead of posting ASCII dicks into local.

Local chat bandwidth is cut to preserve vital functions.

Local chat is only vital for bots lol

…and yet you can’t see market prices in the system next to you if it’s another region. But your bank account reacts in real time no matter where you are and assets status are just delayed 5 minutes…you realtime chat with anyone on private channels regardless where you are but you can’t tune to a local channel…and email is instant.

yay for consistency!

Warhammer level? What is wrong with warhammer lore? And which one? Fantasy or wh40k?

WH40K lore is absolutely amazing…bonkers but amazing. EVE doesn’t come 1/100th as close.

40K is still a ā– ā– ā– ā–  game system though…

Its a pile of balls mate.

It was cool before it was cribbed from 2000ad.

For the emprah, purge the heretic !!

Also smurfs everywhere, even in the bed of long-eared pussies. (yeah I know, love can bloom …)

Remember one very important rule in eve : causality is violated by the pods. That is the only way to understand that you receive your KM before your ship/pod dies.

So maybe there is a way to allow the use of previously existing routes

What if my brain is full of ascii art penises ?

It’s even worse than EvE lore.

I think it should remove bounties.

As a GM for first and second edition of fantasy warhammer I think lore is very good. There are no big holes in it. I don’t know about 3rd edition. As for wh40k, lore? What lore? There are toms of it wrote and if it didn’t exist it won’t matter anyway. Same with EvE lore.

Btw check 1-4 parts of Astartes project. Awesome work.

PLEASE THOSE GUYS DESERVE TO BE PROMOTED WITH A CORRECT LINK.

edit : except in the 3rd part where the plasma gun can shoot precisely at 150m…
