Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

nobody has to pay or Play… if the game isnt yourway just cancel and go on… i think Long term this isnt a wise decided step from ccp.

So is Winter coming to EVE?

I read a lot of people saying 1 month, assumed it was right… You are correct.

Thanks

Contextual meaning, indefinite and blackout being undetermined have two different contextual meanings. Also, it moved from blackout undetermined to indefinite. Let’s go dictionary:

adjective: undetermined

  1. not authoritatively decided or settled

adjective: indefinite

  1. lasting for an unknown or unstated length of time.

I kinda thought you would be the last person I would have to give a grammar lesson to Arrendis, therefore had to of been a troll. If so, well played.

Or the reports of mass unsubs have been greatly exaggerated

Yea I guess CCP has much better info about it than us.

Judging on how they are offering mtc for 1$ makes me believe they are understated.

you didn’t see the 3x month sub promo ? i don’t think with that “damage control” was greatly exaggerated…

Unlikely, I have dumped eve-offline data and found a huge drop, we’re like 2006 in terms of activity at the moment. We didn’t have activity level this bad for one day for years, and consistently - for more than a decade.

They do. And they are already in full damage control.

Yes, lets. Thank you for demonstrating they mean functionally the same thing.
Now let’s keep in mind that the ‘new news’ is, in fact, in-character news where there are no CCP devs. World News is written from the standpoint of someone living in New Eden. There is no way they can say ‘this is a test while CCP gathers data’ in World News.

Or do you really think

Are issues of game balance and mechanics? Since, you know, we’re taking specific context into account in CCP’s phrasing (and not things like, for example, one of them coming from Falcon and the other coming from either DelegateZero or, as he openly said in the interview I did with him earlier this year, being written by the volunteers of ISD, who also would have no way to know what CCP’s window for this is?

Not sure what soaking up plex is? Accounts were paid yearly for 8-9 years. Don’t buy or use PLEX’s.

It was my game and how I enjoyed spending time when EVE was dead before the Europeans came online and there was other stuff to do.

It is not a matter of paying attention. It is a matter be willing to randomly loose expensive ships to the blood gods cause there is no defence against couple of bombers and dread fleet dropping on you.

Will carry on with PVP but that is either Blue Ball fleets or supposed PVP’ers who run unless they are assured of easy kill. To past through the EVE dead time I have taken up playing No man Sky. Not EVE but …

the thing is ppl that unsub may have time time till it ends, for exemple i unsub and it ends in 2 days… so we might only see the diference in ppl online after 1 month or less…

They do like to blend game changes in with the lore, take a look at almost every expansion. =)

While ratting in my Avatar … listening U2 - The Blackout

…or they can make a support ticket to pause their subscriptions and move omega days to their other alts which were not made irrelevant.

Yes, which is why there’s world news posts about the lore surrounding mechanics changes. World news posts, however, are not dev blogs and should not be taken as such.

You can apply the logic that the original post isn’t an OOC devblog? Cuz it is.

Here’s what’s going on. It’s pretty simple:

“You know what I noticed? Nobody panics when things go ‘according to plan’, even if the plan is horrifying.”

CCP haven’t made any OOC statement that they’ve decided on a duration for this, but everyone’s so desperate to think that someone knows what ‘the plan’ is that they’re grasping at any tiny little change in wording to go ‘OH! see? THE PLAN!!! THERE IS ONE!!

Even though the plan was ‘we’ll see how it goes’. 3 days is not enough time to know if this is something they should keep forever or not. They don’t know yet. They don’t even have a single full set of data for all 7 days, and they’re gonna need multiple sets to be able to determine anything.

Just. Chill.

No. No, I wouldn’t. We don’t know. We don’t have enough data. There hasn’t been enough time to gather data. We know that the initial weekend saw a drop of ~10% PCU. But we also know, based entirely on anecdotal evidence (which is of dubious utility) that Delve, while less active, remained active. Legacy space did, too. Places where, based on the Pie Chart of Shame, bots are more likely did not.

So if the 10% of logins that didn’t last weekend were bots? Good. That’s a good change for the game. Maybe it only means the bots need to get the scripts re-written. People have a tendency to be very diligent, creative, and prompt when their RL livelihood is at risk. We’ll see. And that’s the thing: We’ll see.

However, lemme quote you something from what I put out this morning. It’s similar to something I said upthread…

I can apply that same logic to the initial post. The fact that we are arguing about their definition is puzzling while on “local comms blackout - discussion thread.”

Would you agree that these changes are not very good for the game, either undetermined or indefinitely?
