Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

What I see as the most significant part is the amount of people in the Au TZ not logging in. That is almost a 5k gap. I am assuming a bunch of those players cover Eastern Europe and China. That is a serious loss of players.

i’d say that a sizeable part of logged off characters could belong to “cloaky campers” that cant do their psychological warfare 23/7 anymore. Hundreds of them.

No it cant. Non canon, and in The Grim Darkness of Adolescent Male Revenge Fantasy There is Only War

You know, back in the Ye Olden Days of WoW, one of my hobbies was to find enemy players and just sneak right past them so you make that Stealth noise trigger, then just sit back a bit and watch them have a damn seizure, spamming every AoE they have and generally losing their damn minds.

I wonder if that works in Blackout now. Just briefly decloak within d-scan range and then watch them react.

But the fact stands - you dont have to keep them logged on at all times anymore.

fixed it for you. :smirk_cat:

Wow, we have people unironically establishing “trends” from two consecutive datapoints.

This has got to be sodium poisoning.

I’ve very confused about why people are confused by a potential drop in logged in accounts. The blackout makes botting and afk mining in null very difficult to impossible. Seems pretty logical that those swathes of accounts are not staying logged in per usual. In the meantime there is a large number of players that seem to have rejoined the game.

all bout Long term. after a few days you cant predict the changed in accounts. but i think at the end ccp will loose some Long time Players in favor to get some short time ones. like say they see eve is hardcore pvp they join Play it for 4-5 months till get bored and move on to next, in xchange for some guys with multiple accounts that played for years each month subed or plexed.

Come on if you want to compare, take a look on the last two month. And take a look an the summer month.

Botting is much less affected than real players, who do not have perfect reaction and perfect attention of a bot.

Data very strongly suggests otherwise.

I’m curious - Who exactly do you see benefiting economically from this blackout?
Are the Bloks who are primarily not affected by this change suddenly going to say - Lets stop our industrial activities so the rest of nul can benefit from the blackout?
Will the lete hunters who are so overjoyed with the blackout go and kill the 30 to 50 man rorq fleets, mining under a super umbrella that can respond in minutes so the smaller entities in Nul can “benefit” from the blackout?

Or more likely, will these lete hunters stick to the safer areas where smaller groups struggle to survive even with local and actually help the large bloks in their long time goal of controlling everything EVE.

IMO if the blackout continues for too long we will see smaller groups leaving nul or allying/merging into one of the few major bloks who will for the most part remain unaffected by the blackout, no matter how long it goes on.

Yes blackout has seen a dramatic drop in bots (we can assume by the drop in activity) which is both good and bad.

Good that many of the botters are not active meaning honest players should be able to see their investment pay better returns.

Bad because it means all these lete hunters wanting to farm indy players now have way less targets so will need to find smaller groups to to farm and claim their victories from.

Maybe you’re hearing otherwise, but from what I’ve heard commonly seen bots disappeared nearly overnight as they can’t reliably avoid losses anymore. Meanwhile if you’re a player consistently getting caught due to a lack of attention, you may want to get use to paying attention to your screen again. Not difficult to fight aligned and watch D-Scan.

You have data on which accounts are the one online to prove new vs preexisting? Please share.

And what or who is your trusting source? As long as there was no employee of CCP with a view into the data, your source is only a speculator.

Just because you can’t find them doesn’t mean they disappeared.

Nobody catches me because I’m not stupid to undock and give free kills to every risk-averse pvp-avoiding ganktard there is.

Not being allowed an attention lapse for more than 1 second does not even happen in FPS. We ultra-FPS now? This is eve, not FPS, mate.

Thus every fit that can’t align is out. That includes all barges, all mining boosters, all rorqs, all carriers, and 50% of other ratting ships, which are no longer allowed to even turn anymore.

A definite trait of a complete moron is mentioning dscan in this thread, like a true wormhole safe space inhabitant you do not understand the dangers of nullsec in the slightest.

Because you don’t have cynos in your safe space. No attention, no align, no dscan will help you from a risk-averse ganktard blopsing 10 bombers on you, that instapop you and gtfo. Your petty wormhole tricks will never work in dangerous space nullsec is, chickens.

Except they are affected way harder than bots, who have perfect attention and reaction, and cannot make any investment without being ganktarded at the moment.

English please

As you see lot of people are leaving because of this … its not good for Eve or CCP that so many people are leaving because of this change. It seems that CCP is becoming more like EA → if you do not like our game so fuk off. Your comment with “adapt or leave” just fuels the salt on here, because lot of players here trying to say to the rest of the players and CCP that this games needs many different kind of players not just one type.

If removing local in hisec would freak out and loose EVE and CCP income and players - why would it not happen in null sec? are nullsec players that different?
