Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

In terms of operating in nullsec without local I am confident that I could do it, the real question was whether I wanted to. And I would not want to hand all my stuff in a structure to someone who had bigger toys then me.

I had three reasons to leave nullsec, the alliance I was in was dunking Provi more than I was happy with alongside people I wanted to blow up, the other reasons was that I suspected that asset safety was going away at some point and that local was going to get nerfed or removed. I feel a little bit smug about this, at a personal level of course, couldnā€™t give a rats ass about the blocked trollsā€¦

However one issue is if they go with a local that is run by the sov holder this will make hunting a lot more difficult.

You are also going to see a significant exodus from nullsec of more risk averse players, which might not be good in terms of available prey.

However it has to come due to the excess I nullsec, so bring it on.

And another point CCP has to remove all that other free intel on the map!

The intel from Starmap is not as reliable. At best, it gives you an estimative of what to expect. This is how we plan our traveling in Lowsec as it is.

Removing local is the best thing that could possibly be done to fix Nullsec. Good riddance to their safety net. People docking up at the first warning sign (from several jumps away) is ridiculous.

This is a blow to every major powerbloc, and a much needed shake to the snowglobe.

Better less pray and you can actually catch them.

This will mainly wreck botters and excessive farmers. People can live without local in w-space so they will be able to do so in nullsec. If this actually happens.

Iā€™m still highly skeptical and fear a catch. No way CCP doenā€™t ā– ā– ā– ā–  this up in some way.

Move bots from null to high will be that solution for many.

Indeed. Or getting pressure from null blocks to reinstate it.

CSM going bat-ā– ā– ā– ā–  at CCP in 3ā€¦2ā€¦1ā€¦

It is the only thing they could do to be honest, I just hope that no local Skynet type system is introduced in the near future for alliances to install, I had the impression that this was the plan at some point.

Lower returns will help.

Finally! A reason to quit this bloody game! Thank god!

Looks like itā€™s going to be one of those days. Getting nothing done as I flip excitedly from one social media site to another to drink in the sweet, sweet, tears.

In many sites posts are by bots :slightly_smiling_face: and itā€™s quite humorous to see people rage over bot posts, people are so easily moved.

its going to be interesting! we are all going to die!

Nice. Very nice.

No itā€™s not lolā€¦ Chat regularly cocks up, do you not think that the intelligent people at the top wonā€™t already have a system in place that nullifies the loss of local and chat? Because if you believe otherwise, you should get out more, meet people and developā€¦

Itā€™s not about the chat, though. Itā€™s about seeing whoā€™s in system.

No local = no intel on cloaked ships. Thatā€™s the fun part.

Pretty sure I covered that bit tooā€¦

Your post makes no sense.

Systems to deal with very temporary, unintentional interruptions to local should and will be very different to systems that will be implemented for no local ever. Major changes like this have an impact in play styles and strategies beyond ā€œjust dock until local comes back.ā€

Did I say this was to deal with temporary things? Did I say docking up? Dont post ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  additions to my comments

U mad? Are the vewy intelligun people gonna save u? Hmm?

'Cause the few ā€œintelligent people on topā€ who made their real-life identity public are not at all impressive. Some are veritable losers.

You donā€™t have to wait, just look at https://forums.eveonline.com/t/local-comms-blackout-discussion-thread/171935/85, thereā€™s someone in there talking about closing their 45 ! subscribed accounts

 I only have 2 accounts. Please donā€™t lump me into the same crowed as these challenged Delve or Esoteria folk. All I see are existing problems that already create massive safety nets for null bears to become even more effective.

Or was this not intended to be about me? You linked my response instead of the first post of the topic.
