Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

null - static map, no restrictions on mass, allows cynos
WHs - dynamic map, restrictions on mass, no cynos
HOW can anyone compare the two maps is beyond me (unless trolls).

imagine you settle in your C1 or C2 and the next day you get dropped by supers and titans. is this fun or are WHs fun thanks to their current mechanic of limiting access?

as for big groups … you know that goons are capable of spamming titans on gates and keep cycling smartbombs? what will your small gang roams do agains that? you could use WHs, but drops from them are happening already today and no big coaltion cares since they have effective umbrelas.

by all means … keep local removed forever. goons will adapt. goons will use this to their advatage and by proxy welcome more corps into their coalition. the small “independent” people will get served and eventualy CCP as well … to vacate their datacenter and offices (since fighting own customers is always such a good idea)

Low Sec and High Sec need this also, yes I live in high sec at moment but in my 14 yrs have lived/flown everywhere before someone says “Have you ever lived in …”.

Never heard of a covert cyno have ya?

They can spam gates all they want. No need to use them.

Probably so, but in the meantime…

I’m not going to unsub just yet, but anything above the subscription cost of the game is now cut off, I’ve had it with Drifters and now local Blackout! which will soon be a full time blackout if there isn’t any resistance to it! at which time I will say " Thanks CCP it was one hell of a ride and I’m out! o/ "

Why keep something that is dumb and broken, and not change it up? You do know that you’ll actually be SAFER if you’re actually playing the game, right? If you’re actively playing, you’ll press d-scan (V by default FYI) often, and be rewarded with information about the ships pretty darned far away. Granted the same for the enemy but if you’re scanning you will see them before they can do anything. Same as if you had local. However, if they see you in local, they can instantly check your killboard and see if you’re a miner/ratter/etc and know if they wanna gank you or not.

If they see you on dscan however, they have some uncertainty. Is your miner there by itself? Is it bait? Do you have something that will nuke them cloaked up nearby?
So they’ll usually scout more, giving them more time to ■■■■ up, you more time to see them, etc.
It’s really not bad. You just need to learn to adapt, instead of being like a dinosaur ostrich shoving your head in the sand.

Is this whole thing some kind of sick joke?

So much salt in this thread lol. Can you let them at least test it and see how it goes? Nullsec is so boring atm that it can’t be bad.

Some things are better without the player having more than one account.

The comment that I had shot out was just as blunt as the comment it was suited for ie die multiboxers die etc.

This is absolute ■■■■■■■■ and will result in a mass unsub right across new eden. FFS can you guys at CCP think about these things before you decide to make changes like this?

because there’s such things as gates loging your appearance and territorial and infrastructure hubs to record your presence, if you don’t want either there’s wormhole space.

Stop it guys !! I can only drink so much tears !

Jees…,i am a Hisec carebear…and whenever some change hit Hisec we got so much hate …,seems Nulseccers r worse crybabies than us…,ain’t life a bitch…??!

Your opinion is yours, but frankly some folks don’t live in wormholes simply because they don’t like it. Maybe 5% of the population enjoys J-Space. A game should be able to accommodate all types of players if it wants to survive. If you take the ratters out, who will buy your goods? If you take the miners out, who will build your ships? If you take the industrialists out, who will invent your items? Apparently you haven’t lost all your cash replacing ships and had to fly around doing missions in a corvette, but for those of us under a year old, not in a large corp, it is not possible to live in a WH with 3 people, mine, rat, pvp and have even a remote chance of succeeding. This is what is being forced on us. The only way we will survive is to join a HUGE corp or alliance with well protected space so we can atleast mine to replace the ships we lose in PVP.

OMG I’m cancelling 100 of my accounts. This is bs. I’m going to also going to delete all my assets. This is ins
ane. How am I going to make billions of isk now.

I love how you seem to think all this will stop because local got removed.
Just goes to show the average intelligence of null players these days.

there’s fixes to sov mechanics, like reduce the number of cyno jammers that can be anchored, fix time zone tanking, removing local is just a ethereal thing that wont solve the sov mechanics.

if anything this will make player numbers drop because of how jarring the change is.

I live in a WH. I D-scan to death. I once caught a cloaky ship on scan before it could cloak after coming through the wh. This is all nothing new to me. Adapt/learn? I don’t know what the game means to any of you. What it meant to me was a long term challenge.

But man, the tears are heavy!

That is great. Stick around and instead of whining, adapt. Read up. Everyone is so ■■■■■■■ scared of losing local, that they’re really not even understanding that it will benefit them more than hurt. Its like the asshats that screamed “dont you dare take away my cocaine cola! its good for me!” or anti-vaxxers.

Instead, read up, learn, adapt. We mine a good bit more than people think in jspace (granted we don’t and really shoudln’t get much t2 goo), we krab like its going out of style, and yet we usually feel safer with the lack of local. I’d be damned terrified to krab in nullsec, unless I was in a huge bloc with an umbrella, and then they’re too damned safe.

Really, if you can’t learn to think for yourself and not parrot the ■■■■ you hear, and leave, then I think its good riddance… summer cleaning in progress.
