Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

So what you are saying is, small corps, alliances have no chance. Move to highsec or WH space. I believe I said this earlier, thanks for reinforcing my comments!

Exploration is hard? Not profitable? I don’t think you’re doing it right.

Cant wait for this to go into effect. It gives back the uncertainty of space. Like the old saying goes No one can hear you scream in space lol.

HAHAHAHA. CCP you really don’t know how your own game works. Killing local will only benefit the large nullblocs to the detriment of smaller groups and make meta-spying even more important. Super krabs in range of their coalitions staging system will still be unkillable unless they screw up. The WHers BTW will be happy for a little while until all the easy targets dry up and they discover they just get boson’d on jumping into Delve.

Glad I quit with most of Skill Urself.

Small groups can operate in null but you need to be aware that big alliances at anytime can decide they want what you have.
That is the nature of null and in fact EvE with or without local.
Buddy up and try and fight it out or leave.

Best call ever CCP, local intel makes things stagnant asf.

I think ccp’s plan is to see how many people they can make quit the game in one day…like if ccp is willing to mess with this nullsec mechanic…what’s next for eve?

Sigh. blinders. take em off
If a ship is cloaked… it doesn’t affect ■■■■. Because it’s cloaked. Basic. ■■■■■■■. game. mechanic.
Please come camp my system in a cloaky. And see how many fucks I give.

If you decloak, then you both… turn on modules, and can now be targeted. YAY, meet my weapons and die in seconds! Or the disco ball… cause I don’t even need to bother with targeting you then.

There is only one objection that you can make that is valid for keeping local, that holds up with game mechanics. That is blops. And there are several ways to both deal with that in the current game, and possible minor modifications to blopsing that could render any argument moot.

Should add do know you much about the Chinese server?
Null there is controlled by one alliance no one can compete with.

so true

For every krab who is threatening the end of the game because you personally are scared, please tell me how many doctrine ships and fits you have personally built.
Organized groups still account for the overwhelming majority of ore mined, refined, and built into assets.

A couple of scared krabs just means it’s more profitable for the rest of us due to lower competition.

I will say I don’t support this change but ultimately I left null sec a few months ago due to IRL being too hectic for me to have time to play been looking at comming back. However, seeing this I think I’ll just sit on sidelines unsubscribed further and see what happens going forward. If this is permanent then there will be no reason for me to ever return. I tried wh once and the the lack of local was the entire reason I hated it so much and chose null instead. Low sec is just has too weird of a rulset for me with the gate guns etc. Highsec just annoys me. So null sec was the only place I enjoyed but now it’s going to be changed in a way that is the only reason I didn’t go to wh. Time will tell what and how this will effect playerbase. But I know the change negatively affect me with how I play and enjoyed the game. I do hope it’s not permanent but if it is I pray for a bright future although personally I am doubtful.

This would be awesome for PvP.
It would kill ratting and mining.

Sigh. That realy doesn’t even hold up either. If someone is cloaky camping you… how do you know they’re there? How do they know you’re there? They don’t. You don’t. Unless one of you decloaks. If you’re playing the game correctly, then you’d have known when they came in system, and then you could cloak yourself, or leave system, or just go off-dscan and continue not giving a ■■■■ and mine/krab to your heart’s content.
Cloaked ships can’t fight one another. They’re cloaked.
As for the last bit, yeah, agreed. just be diligent and have corpmates that are diligent and you’ll always know that someone entered system, and can hunt them while they still think they’re the hunters and dont know they’re now the hunted.

OMG.
Oceans! Oceans!!!

of tears…

In all the discussions on this over the years, nay, a decade! I could leave each one with a take it or leave it opinion. Local was a “free tool” to both sides of many equations.

Well. We’re going to be finding out soon enough who was right and who was wrong all these years.

And now, to hear the lamentations of the botters and mindless farmers…

I really can’t understand ppl that’s completely against this.

Don’t you feel the game stale? Over-safe? Plagued by bots?

Doesn’t a change that target those issues worth the try?
I, at least, like what these changes can be.

PS: DSCAN fixes 99% of the troubles ppl cry about.

Was kind of a mixed reply not all of it to do with having no local or cloaky ships.
Getting on to 0230 now starting to get tired too

This idea has been batted around for years. You risk averse null players should have seen it coming. It’s about time the game actually got risky for the amount of ISK you’re printing out there. And you have the nerve to complain about the relatively meager amount of “safe” money we’re able to scrape out in high sec. Hah!

The fact that so many null sec people are crying and have blown this thread up into a threadnaught so quickly kind of tells me that CCP may have made the right choice.

More salt for my popcorn please!

game mechanics are different now fyi
you’ll keep crying you can’t find enough targets
