Local Comms Blackout - Discussion Thread

Yeah, and like i’d campa dead as ■■■■ system in my timezone?
I sleep too dingus. I also like to kill ships not sit in space jerking off. I don’t have to pay for the latter.

So you aren’t 100% safe.

Good.

The only way to do this is open new space outside of Nullsec that has these attributes. Let the players prove it is viable. Otherwise, the game is dead.

Then you’d move your RMT/botter empire into those systems and still be bad at the game and not learn the simple mechanics that you purport to understand.
Nah, I like the salt, plus it’ll be fun catching the AFK peeps.

i suspect they’d add more nerfs to null if they created separate zones like that.

Actually, there is nullsec and highsec. he could just move there, fits the bill precisely.

I would like to point out the flaw here in a case of the current cloaky camps they log in immediately after down time and cloak no gate activation no record they entered and unless you have 23.5/7 eyes on the entery and exit from Dr to DT you won’t know weather they left or are still there also untill they hot dropped there would be absolutely zero defence from covert cloaking ships with covert cynos other than hope you live long enough to get your backup in and that would be a big if there’s no way of mitigation of the risk in that either as it’s unrealistic to expect someone to watch the gate dt to DT and have a consistent log Everytime someone enters and leaves along with a log up to the start. If I wanted to abuse this I would place the cloaky eyes now get everything in range then just not log in till it happens then I would be unknown to the system upon activation of it and even if they kill be there’s no way to verify at all that a cloaky camper is not in system with see 50-200 guys.

Put work Into the game in Null Sec… Must mean High Sec is a tough place to live, All the High Sec PVP… All that difficult Mining in High Sec… So hard.

Without Null Sec the economy would be Pay to play. But you do you boo boo.

This change is a step toward the right direction.

I quit EVE 3 years ago mainly because PVE is so boring and botted in this game. It is no secret that a lot of people resort to botting contents and creating a unfair environment for those of us who play the game fairly. Many of my friends who formerly play EVE quit the game because of this unfairness which in the end led me to quit as well.

3 years after, i picked up EVE again to give it another chance, just to see the situation getting so much worse. Botting seemed to have become the norm for null sec alliances, and with skill injection mechanics new players are forced into endlessly grinding unbearably boring contents to meet their corp demands for skill points. Doing null sec ratting 24/7 does not show them the beauty of EVE, and it doesn’t teach them the skill they need to have fun in EVE.

Erasing local chat might not be the optimal solution, but it is at least a solution to a bigger problem that must be addressed. I have tried living in a wormhole after i came back to EVE and it is one of the best experience i ever had. Although PVE in a C5-6 can still be stale but at least it is a teamwork to do the sites and make the process safe. I have also tried the new abyssal spaces and some bad rolls with npc spawns can really spice things up. I can see a alternative to erasing local chat could be a revamp in npc toward abyssal space or wormholes.

But CCP whatever you do just please…make botting go away.

I’ve played this game off and on since the very beginning and I love this change. Null sec has gotten so horribly stale in the last few years and the likelihood of 2 roaming fleets actually fighting each other is so small. Too easy to just opt out of fighting with everyone showing in local. This change should add some sense of risk and tension to null sec that honestly hasn’t been there for nearly a decade.

Hopefully that the markets will also become less terribly inflated with a sharp decrease in salty isk subbed afk miners/ratters. For those pve’rs staying keep in mind that no local also makes it harder to find targets. So it kind of balances out. Guess you’ll just have to actively play the game to make isk…

Crossing my fingers that the next step will be to reduce the number of anomalies that spawn per system in Null. Maybe people will then spread out and actually use all the space.

Actually that was really harsh of me, let me apologise by offering information on c5 rentals. 2bill per hour isk income, minimal risk, same local as null sec but better logistics. As wormholes are limited by mass, you may not run into that issue as much with being outnumbered. Evemail me for deets.

Now I know you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about here! but I’ll fill you in so you can stop embarrassing yourself with ridiculous statements … cloak + nullified = cloaky camper! you can’t stop this

I feel like CCP just smacked CODE’s tearfactory, put them in their place, and demonstrated the right way to make carebears cry.

I have never extracted tears of this quality.

I can’t vote this up enough. It’s a tearstorm.

CODE has scored a lot of good tears, but this is amazing.

Guys, we have to step up our game, we can’t let CCP be the best at this.

However dude, you kinda stepped all over your own argument.
That cloaky camper jumps in system when no-one is on… likely because at this point he’s watched your guys doing something dumb and wants to catch someone.
Okay, so I stayed up all night, after seeing some nerds ratting and observing that while they got away (say the system is big AF and warp-times are hell so even bad players get away), they were beign not aligned or something silly. I get in system just after/before DT, and now I’m so stomped I go to sleep. I log in next day, and my blopsing buddies got bored and moved halfway across Eve. So I now see the terribad fleet being bad, and have to wait for ages for my mates to consider coming back… see where this is going?
Cloaky campers have to sleep, eat and ■■■■ just like you. Unless he’s his own personal army then you’re likely fine. Cloaky camping only works to shut down a system because you can see that scary ass red dude in local, and more noteworthy, he can see you. with no local… he doesn’t know you’re there unless he’s actually manning the keyboard and hunting.

Also if I get 20, not to metnion 200 dudes into your system that are that darned hard-set to kill you, and you didn’t notice it… either you’re flying some serious trophies, or you pissed someone the hell off :stuck_out_tongue:

At the same time the hot dropper would be jumping into a system with no knowledge of how many ppl will react, cynos show on overview. covops cynos dont, but blops are juicy targets. Dont become the prey.

Its easy to make a safe-ish fit for active ratting, your ticks will suffer, take it as a tax

read the rest of the post. Or learn to fly a cloaky cyno boat and learn what it dies to. Seriously, they’ll enlighten you.

I’m not subbed again yet, game got so stale I biomassed my main.

I gotta train some ■■■■ to get in on the silliness that’s about to go down.

I’m thinking Pilgrims are going to cost over 1 billion isk by the end of the week…

Soon there won’t be any game left, and that means no tears to harvest! lol
