So combined they are all more than u.s. but i think today even with frat, US has overall more players
Those figures are 17 years out of date, the original post containing them was made in 2012, and the person who made it lists them as being from 2008.
In 2008 Eve was 5 years old and still growing â rather rapidly. It continued to grow rapidly until 2011, when CCP dropped Incarna and managed to alienate a large percentage of players, many of whom dropped alt accounts like they had the plague, or quit entirely because of CCPâs tone deaf response to the resulting mayhem â the numbers still havenât recovered 14 years later.
The most up-to-date numbers I can find are from the 2023 Fanfest 20 Years of Data presentation that I linked to in my original reply to the OP â in which the Dev presenting it clearly says the US accounts for 25% of the player-base at the timestamp shown.
Reread what Iâve posted. I didnât say the event should be cancelled. I said it should be more front loaded instead of requiring someone to be home and ready to log in for two weeks. Skimming through the comments I see you really ran with that strawman. I also suggested that Omegas automatically receive everything considering they are paying a premium or that itâs extended if the days following it are just empty anyway.
It does not matter where a company is physically located. Thatâs like saying why should a company in Iceland do any type of business outside of Iceland? If they do business outside their borders and take the money of people outside their borders then, yes, they should consider people outside their borders.
But, you donât complain that you can participate as U.S. citizen in the Chinese New Year event and others not related to your country, do you? Surely they should remove you from participation?
I would guess other countries are similar busy during their events and can not fully participate, but then again you can make full profit of the event? It all comes together if you would broaden your view pleaseâŚ
You were suggesting changes to cater to you, because you were inconvenienced. You feel important because youâre a person living in a large country, so a game company in another country should cater to your whims because you cannot handle FOMO.
You know, if you left the whole âI am important because USAâ story out of this and just asked for the removal of any temporary log-in rewards that exist only to boost log in numbers by preying on FOMO, Iâd support that suggestion. I donât like the usage of such dark patterns in games either.
Omegas arenât paying some sort of deluxe, gold-leaf âpremium tierâ that entitles them to celestial dividends â theyâre just paying the normal subscription that used to be the only way to play Eve.
That subscription removes the Alpha restrictions on skills, ships, industry, training speed and so on. Thatâs the entire deal, nothing more, nothing less. There isnât a secret executive lounge where Omegas get automatic event rewards and a complimentary glass of Quafe Ultra for subscribing.
Calling the basic subscription a âpremiumâ tier is like calling the act of buying a cinema ticket âVIP accessâ because someone outside is watching the same film through the keyhole.
If youâre saying that the event reward system needs improvement, fair enough â but redefining Omega as a premium tier wonât magically make your âgimme âcause xâ argument work.
Maybe they should add an in-game Thanksgiving event? It could be an Amarrian holiday to show appreciation for the Reclaiming by eating dry chicken and arguing about politics with your uncle.
As a non-US player I have to say I find it fascinating that american exceptionalism seems to creep into more or less every discussion online. It takes minutes to log in and grab a reward and unless Iâm mistaken, might be since Iâm new here, CCP usually gives some leeway during these log-in-events by letting you be offline for atleast a few days during it without missing out on any of the goodies.
What you just stated makes zero sense in the context of what I stated. Just utter and complete nonsensical garbage.
I stated there should be an alternate method to claim rewards without requiring the full client be installed on a PC and/or Omega automatically receive the reward they are technically paying for. Later adding that they could be more front loaded, putting all the junk items in the last days or extend event duration. Neither of which infringes on any other country and is universal in their benefits to players of ALL nationalities because this could be applied to ALL holidays internationally.
See my reply to Power Armor above. If you did read my OP then you are knowingly and purposely misrepresenting what I said. Thank you for admitting you are trolling. This is the problem with the Eve forumites (your type). You simply want to be contrarians for the sake of being contrarians. You have nothing of substance to offer and only seek bickering.
Case in point:
Clearly just latching on to anything he can find to feign offense over and bicker about. Everything but genuine criticism toward the substance of what I actually posted.
And for the record, Omega does more than remove alpha restrictions. It provides additional incentives, like extra rewards. Also, Alpha is the new basic. But I digress.
