Lore update

The laws of physics is breaking down. New Eden is a pocket of space where its still intact. But surrounding it is abyssal deadspace.

Gameplay effect:

Abyssal filaments will only work in systems at the edge of the cluster. T6 needs to be activated at the absolute edge, and T1 can be activated within a few jumps.

Game theory:

Increases the value of 0.0 and pushes abyssal runners to this area of the game. Lets discuss or not.

Here is the AI generated version:

The Lore

The laws of physics are breaking down. New Eden is a stable pocket of space, but the surrounding Abyssal Deadspace is encroaching. The closer you get to the cluster’s edge, the thinner the barrier becomes.

The Mechanics

Filaments can no longer be activated from the safety of high-sec hubs. Instead, activation is tied to geography:

  • T1 – T3: Can be activated within a few jumps of the cluster’s edge.
  • T4 – T5: Requires border systems.
  • T6: Can only be activated at the absolute, final edge systems of the map.

The Impact

  • Revitalizes 0.0 & Low-Sec: Drives high-value PvE players out of safe hubs and into the fringes.
  • Creates PvP Chokepoints: Hunters will know exactly where T6 runners must go, creating natural conflict zones and gatecamp opportunities.
  • True Risk vs. Reward: High-tier running stays lucrative, but getting to and from the site becomes part of the danger.

Thoughts? Does this fix the “instanced safety” of the Abyss, or does it overcomplicate things? Let’s discuss.

As a side not it would be awesome with a new type of stargate at the edge of the cluster that folds space between it and the other edge. For example it would allow a gate from Cache to Fountain and vice versa

Gameplay effect: Cache and Fountain would be neighbours.

I think nullsec would become more vibrant if it didnt function as the edge of the cluster. I mean if there were stargates between for example Cache and Fountain it would open up the cluster. Basically the two regions would become neighbours and the friction between incumbants would increase, for better or worse :victory_hand:

Here are the potential new connections

Please, just take your disco ball and go home.

Direct connect north and south and east and west of the cluster and allow alliances to fortify their space. And only Lancers and Titans and super carriers are able to deploy warp bubbles going forward. Interdictors gain extremely long webifier range and perhaps :stasis web bubbles: instead. Peace.

Some interesting uses for stasis web bubbles:

  • On multi-gate complexes, you can deploy one to slow hostile fleets reaching a gate.
  • You may also be able to use one on your own fleet to improve alignment times, though I’m not certain.

Overall, it seems fresh.
