Hi Everyone,

First of all, congratz to the devs for keeping Eve Online alive this long - 15 years. I hope that at least one DEV will get to read this as I consider it a rather important discussion about some aspects of the current EvE ecosystem.

Leaving aside the fact that scamming is allowed in this game, which by itself is a major grieving act against new players and turns the Jita general chat into a bot spam paradiseā€¦ oh wait, you wanted to comment on this right? To tell me that itā€™s part of the dangerous, pirate-like universe of EvE, thatā€™s itā€™s normal and that I should stop sucking at the game?

ā€¦ What, are you like 10 year olds ? Actually, you probably are! So donā€™t bother, as Iā€™m not really interested. Besides, the only ones that agree with trade scamming are scammers themselves (outstanding IRL people I bet), the ones that already know about it and CCP.
Funny though, how this was left as it was while giving players so little means to protect themselves/punish scammers(Escpecially that 1 day new alts. Letā€™s block them to death, shall we?).

But this is secondary. Letā€™s go to the main topic.

Cloaky camping in Null sector and multiple accounts. You guys know about this, donā€™t you ?

One guy, in a crappy or decent ship with cloaking device makes its way to a system. He goes to a chosen spot, cloaks, and remains there forever safe while cloaked. His purpose is ganking or hot drop-ing. Is that PVP ? No, itā€™s just attacking players who are fighting NPCs. Sounds cool, right? No, itā€™s kinda lame sorryā€¦ Player vs Player fighting Non Player Characters - the true purpose of this game! Oh waitā€¦

And in so, he manages to paralyze an entire system. Itā€™s about as saying ā€œI spit on your corporation and your alliance, Iā€™m not going to let you farm in this system. I have a cloak, and I couldnā€™t care less about your useless probes, Astrahuses and Fortizarzā€¦ even your KEEPSTARS! Your sovereignty means NOTHING to me. I wonā€™t lose any time as I have multiple accounts(thanks CCP), so I can just park this one here - and when you least expect it, I will bring my other accounts to gank your sorry assā€.

His only inconvenience is that he has to relog on the daily server restart.

This is one of the reasons me and my friends almost gave up on the game. Between the drag that is constantly watching Local and Intel chat, now you have to run and hide when a guy comes to cloaky camp your system. You never know when heā€™ll drop a super on the rattle that youā€™ve worked so hard to equip, and you donā€™t want to lose it because you know that will be the end. Your corporation canā€™t helpā€¦ after all no one can find him, and heā€™ll just sit there afk until he finds some vulnerable targets. So, youā€™re forced NOT TO PLAY.

Iā€™ve seen PVP in this game and I believe it can be majesticā€¦ but this ? This is just ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– . Without further ado, my suggestions:

  • Fortizar and higher class structures in a system with sovereignity belonging to the respective corporation should be able to use system wide pulses to remove stealth and prevent application for a period of time, every 60 minutes. There has to be some sort of risk for trying to camp a system fully owned by a corporation.

  • If you donā€™t like the first suggestion, then do something about cloaking in Corp owned systems. Is it normal for a cloaked ship to effectively undermine the strength of a corporation and itā€™s fleet? If yes, please give then an additional ability to launch nukes (itā€™s something that theyā€™re sorely lacking)

  • Remove Local chat in Jita. Whatā€™s the point of having it, if itā€™s mostly used by bots? I thought this was supposed to be a player driven game?

Thanks for reading. If you donā€™t make any changes to the stealth system, I can only hope that some players with enough money will make enough cloaky accounts to effectively trim down more of the EvE population. After all, thatā€™s something that you allow - CCP.

Games are supposed to be fun. Risk is Nullsec in one thing, but thisā€¦ this is just grieving.

Hei @Nana_Skalski , can you explain the op here how Nullsec is completely risk free?

A) No you donā€™t,you need to learn how to deal with them, otherwise itā€™s your own fault.

B) Use the sticky AFK Cloaky thread. this will simply be locked when the next ISD stumbles across it muttering ā€˜Oh ffsā€¦ā€™

it isnt completely risk free. Same as any area of gameplay.

The point of this is to show that one cloaked ship should not be able to undermine a corporation owned system. Itā€™s hard to explain such things to experts like @Ima_Wreckyou , who is probably both a scammer and a cloaky camper.

If the ISDs disregard this, considering that itā€™s been stated times before(assuming that by the ā€œafk cloaky threadā€ you mention), it shows how much the care about the players. I guess losing some players now doesnā€™t mean as much as bringing more bots to the game.

Null sec means null security, not null sector.

You, the carebear, are a player. He, the cloaky camper, is a player as well. Hence itā€™s PvP.

The rest of your garbage thread belongs here:

Nice summary of all of the reasons I play Eve. If I wanted to play a game that wasnā€™t brutally harsh, Iā€™d be playing something else.

You could always play in Highsec** until the cloaky camper goes away or go play with an alt in another system. Then there is the option of staying docked and playing Market PVP.

** I know Highsec is reputed to be dangerous but as long as you watch Local and keep mashing dscan and you have some scouts and lots of friends and move to an NPC corp you should be ok.

High-sec is easily the most dangerous space in the game it being the most populated and travelled area within Eve online. Full of dangerous individuals scrabbling up the ladder of griefdom. Your just a rich nullcontent (malcontent) crying about someone you cannot even see.

I think it depends on the specific activities.

Null and Low Sec can be the safest place in the game, if you are with the right organization and in their home space.

Hi Sec can be the most dangerous to certain haulers and newer players in some cases.

Personally, Iā€™ve had an empty JF of mine nearly ganked. I had to jump to a emergency cyno to save it. The game has become more about KMs for many and that is really unfortunate.

As well, Iā€™ve ran some new characters testing some things out and nearly every one had a CODE. alt try to gank it within the first week or so of starting the character. One of those characters had 4+ attempts within the first 3 weeks. and I was online with these new ones far less than when I started the game. This is a huge change from when I started the game back in 2005, and I donā€™t buy it is good for new player retention.

Iā€™ve spent most of my 9 active years between 2005 and 2014 as a pirate and if that happened to me my first few weeks, Iā€™m not sure I would have stuck around.

Post the lossmail that started this font of rage

The only possible way that can happen is if you let them.

Please ISD, close this already.

Grieving =/= Griefing

Good grief cant you grieve in another one of these topics that have been around for 15 years.

I wonder whoms alt the OP is.

Thank you for helping me save time.

It is Drysonā€™s alt!
