I wouldnt say outsmarted. Just suprise attacked.
If youâve managed to surprise someone, youâve outsmarted them, even if that just means they were incredibly dumb.
Not nessisarily. Ive been suprised by a copperhead before but it didnt outsmart me.
My dude, not a comparison. Iâm talking about people manoeuvring against other people. You probably surprised the snake as much as it surprised you. That is different. Very different.
At the end of the day, if you get caught by a cloaky camper and subsequently dropped on, you got outsmarted. Unless their XMP server or whatever the â â â â the new chat â â â â is happens to be flaking out again. Youâve got local. You know that youâre at a higher risk of getting engaged. If you chose to ignore them, you accept the consequences of what is quite simply a stupid action.
Now⌠if that was a bait ship you were ratting in⌠they better hope theyâve got a ship scanner, or they just got outsmarted. Getting outsmarted in blops is an expensive lesson to learn. Boson to the head.
Miner, calm down.
And keep your whining to the dedicated cloaky camper whine thread so the adults can have a conservation.
Wait, waitâŚare you saying i can lock down an entire system by just sitting somewhere cloaked???.
Yep. Alliances do it all the time.
Itâs more the fear of the local carebears to loose their shiny toys that makes them dock up. Cloaky camping is mostly a mind game.
Have you seen CCP Fozzies presentation at Eve Down Under? He also talked briefly about a structure called the âObservatoryâ they are thinking about, and how it could affect local chat of NullSec systems. It even might enable you to detect cloaky campers.
Like if you have such a structure in your SOV you get to see the local. If you donât you donât. But donât expect this in the near future.

Does anyone know if you can make time-markers on Twitch like in Youtube-Videos?
Nevemind, found it.
look at what the first result in google gave me, you lazy bum.
After you weed out the trolls and spotty teenage replies there are some interesting replies.
Letâs clear a few things up. AFK Cloakers means exactly that. Sitting in a system for days, the same characters logging in at DT and logging out at DT, staying in the same system never moving and across the whole region the same characters doing exactly the same thing. How is, especially considering how Sov works, does this create gameplay? Itâs got nothing to do with being safe, but it has everything to do with being outsmarted. The latter just isnât even considered.
SOo letâs cut the BS replies and focus on this - a system of game play focused on player activity, defeated by AFK cloakers. Wormholes and such are completely different context due to the sole reason of sov mechanics.
Are the cloaked players causing disruption to activities in the system? If not, then it seems they are wasting time. If they are, then it is, in a round-about way, affecting the meta-game.
Thereâs a persistent pest in an SB whoâs been trying to catch my PI alt. So far to no avail.
Not defeated. I just take my calculated risks.
Fixed that for you.
You can camp cloaked everywhere. But you only pay attention in your own SOV, where you live and can spot the camper via local chat. If you would live in low sec a cloaky camper could effect you in the exact same way.
Wrong - Itâs a completely different context because of the game play associated to null sec and Sov.
You do not hold sov in wormholes and you do not hold sov in low sec its a simple matter of understanding context.
Everything has been answered, no need for a 10,000th thread about it.
o/
My point was that you donât need to hold the sov of a system to live in it. You can have the threat of a cloaked camper basically anywhere.
Obviously this time it is different. When there are no safe spaces for ratting or mining in the dozen or so regions that the Panfam coalition controls everyone understands that something must change. The only language that CCP understand is $$$, so unsubscribe all your accounts now.
I donât care for safe space - i care about engaging game play. There is nothing engaging about hordes of accounts being logged in across many systems just sit there from DT to DT.
I have commented on this and would <3 this.
My opinion on these observatory arrays, if ccp ever got their act together and made this part of SOV, would be for them to be small HP modules that attackers could destroy easily but for sov holders to be able to deploy easily too. I want there to be a bit in it for attackers and a bit in it for defenders to create dynamic game play, and not a mechanic that encourages more of the current status of sov gameplay.
Bit silly to join the biggest blue blob in the game only to complain that there is no engaging content. If you are after engaging and/or exciting gameplay, jump into a PvP ship and go look for it. Join a corp or alliance that is active in PvP; see the recruitment forum.
You could also take the boring option and go rat or mine; it is not very engaging, but it gives you something to do. With luck one of the cloaky people will not be AFK and provide you with an engagement -> problem solved!
(Hint: if you are a bit scared you can always ask corp or alliance members for help with PvP.)
