Main AFK cloaky thread

I thought I didn’t miss anything.

I’ve really been wanting to get at the shiny T3 crusiers and such that just afk the day away when they are in danger while running sites. If you are in space, you shouldn’t be safe, or so I thought.
Apparently wanting cloak changed so it’s not for babies in their safe space is wildly disliked. Who knew?

Please let me know how you can do it against a non-cloaked ship with any reasonable success chance.

Hint: you can’t do it. The target can warp to new bookmarks faster than you can chase them, and can only be caught through lag or complete failure to do basic EVE tasks.

I’ve told you the answer, over and over again, and you just don’t want to hear it. Cloaking is as it is because no better solution has been proposed. It is not required to stay this way, but your proposed change has to be much better than any of the various terrible ideas suggested so far.

Will do :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:.

You have come to the realization that it’s too easy to avoid combat. The way the game it setup, it’s just too easy to warp off. I don’t believe you should be able to exit from an engagement so quickly, but that’s another problem for a different discussion.

I clearly don’t see any attempts to record or catalog the solutions here, + any suggestion just gets shot down.

So lets see if that assertion holds true.
If we were to purpose a simple change to make cloaking just ever so slightly more dangerous, what if an active cloak eventually caused heat damage?

Realistically, it makes sense, because emitted heat would allow a ship to be located.
Lets say the heat gain is a very, very light amount, enough so you can cloak for 30-60 minutes, but beyond that you start getting hit with actual heat damage on the ship. Eventually, the cloak will shut itself off due to overheating, so you don’t even need to add new mechanics.

This would impose a risk to being cloaked for too long, but it doesn’t really stop someone from decloaking, and then simply reactivating the cloak. Perhaps something else should be added to mitigate this? Delaying the re-activation of the cloak by an amount based on how long you were cloaked? I’m not sure, and I don’t want to add another stupid timer.

Who knows, maybe CCP reads things in this topic and thinks along the lines of,

Or they might actually be thinking of ways to balance it all out eventually. We won’t know what the go is with cloaking and all that is associated with the mechanic until something is presented in a dev blog, csm minutes or similar I guess.

@Hillbert_Alexis You’r enot following because I was just chatting some shite to be honest mate. I saw a comment about probes in W-Space or something and the logic behind complaining about cloaky campers is … Tragic … So I thought I’d make a tragic comment.

Has there been any suggestion of putting a fuel in the requirements for cloaking devices? This could I guess lend a higher element of danger. I think a new device should be launched in my name for this revelation.

That’s because every solution so far has been terrible. They’re getting shot down because they’re almost entirely whining and crying about “MY RMT FARMING IS TOO DANGEROUS I WANT MORE ISK”.

This would impose a risk to being cloaked for too long, but it doesn’t really stop someone from decloaking, and then simply reactivating the cloak.

And here you found the flaw in your own suggestion. It doesn’t do anything to stop active cloaked players, it just makes it impossible to stay logged in while AFK and therefore makes local a more effective intel tool for RMT bots and bot-like players to avoid PvP.

Yes, many times. It’s a terrible idea that does nothing to increase PvP or player interaction and has the sole effect of making RMT bots (and bot-like players) more efficient at farming.

How to be popular and win friends:

Post this suggestion in the Exploration Gameplay Center - EVE Online Forums forums, I am sure it would be super popular!

Seriously, take off the blinders, cloaking has many uses.

No, that’s a problem with your understanding of the game, ever heard of a warp scrambler or a tackle, got point??

A day in the life of the Cloaky Man…

:yum:

They dont change it as its balanced currently.

They have to remove / delay local to make it possible to change cloaking.

I am honestly surprised this has never been addressed, considering afk cloak camping is essentially bottling (completing in-game tasks with out imputing commands)

A very simple solution. a 30-60min AFK Timer from the last issued command, not only would this help server stress, but would stop people dying ie falling asleep at computer lol
And people still can camp to their hearts content, while at the keyboard

Also, thanks for your input Blopsec. Gotta defend your income revenue. Am i right MarShy?

What task did a cloaked ship complete while AFK??

(this should be rich)

If that needs an explanation, you are not in the right area buddy

lol, obvious dodge is obvious

and a troll only trolls, good day sir/mam

So answer the question what task did a cloaked ship complete while AFK?

a daft troll, is still a troll… Good day, and good by pleb

So you shot your mouth off and were wrong.
