No, I want someone to point out exactly what is wrong with my argument, not to make general “you’re wrong” claims which are not in any way a logical argument. If I have misunderstood a word or sentence, then please point out exactly which one, and what the correct understanding should be.

You claimed that someone sleep or at work, is playing the game. You suggested this was because what they are doing can affect the game. I then showed a counter-argument of cases where people’s actions affect a game they are not playing but will be playing at a latter time.

So, please establish how someone not playing chess, is playing chess; or how someone not playing EvE (because they are at work, school, or sleeping) is playing EvE.

Not only have I established a logical argument, I have even told you exactly what part of it you need to attack. But, since you are unable to do that simple of a task, you just call me names and say that isn’t an argument.

Seriously, you need to take a step back and calm down. This is a free forum where anyone can reply to anyone else. Never take anything anyone says here seriously.

I didn’t see any actual threat to you, just a turn of phrase that you really didn’t like. Just ignore it and keep on track with the topic. Anything else is just virtual noise from behind a screen.

I’m not taking it seriously, CCP’s “zero tolerance” policy requires that it be taken seriously. Unless the game has now introduced death or arson being able to cause it, his threat was not within the context of the game. Therefore it is out of game and serious.

But maybe he didn’t really mean it, maybe it was just a “turn of a phrase” as you say. But, seeing as he likes so much to tell me I’m wrong, or I’m stupid, why hasn’t he said anything about me being wrong in my understanding of his “turning a phrase”? His silence proves that he did mean it as such.

Of course now he might read this and posture something differently, even gigX offered an apology, but that doesn’t change that for two days he hasn’t even hinted at his words not meaning what they mean. Others have taken up that cause, but not him. Why? Because he meant it, and is proud of it. In any legal system, one of the first things they look for is if the “guilty” shows any remorse, here there is none. Not even, “of course I didn’t mean that, you are stupid for thinking so, but no, I don’t want you to actually die.”

Of course, and that includes me, and the way I reply. But this is not a “free forum” but a “discussion forum” it is a place for discussion. When someone resorts to threats of physical violence, the discussion is over. That person has shown that they are incapable of being a part of a civilized discussion. They have removed themselves, and everything they have to say from that discussion. They have ceased to be.

Furthermore, just because someone has a penis doesn’t every give them the right to threaten physical violence on anyone else. What is wrong with the world where people flock in to defend someone someone who feels that when faced with their own Impotence and inability to use words, violence is okay. What kind of misogynistic, physically oppressive system are you supporting? Or are you just so wrapped up in the EvE is life idea that you can’t see the boundary between a fictional game and the real world? (Role-playing this abusive personality type is also wrong, but not quite as serious, and not against any of CCP’s rules.)

I will try, but it would be a bit like singing to the deaf, no matter how intricate the performance only so much can be appreciated. :slight_smile:

So far no one has even been able to give a definition of the word “play” much less any “big words.”

Dying is part of the game. Having the pod blow up in pretty explosions is setting the body within on fire. His phrase can thus be summed up to “Go get podded.”

Many people have defined play in terms of EvE already anyway, the game allows for psychological warfare, therefore using AFK cloaking to that affect is playing the game. The whole AFK aspect of it is moot since I could move to null and run enough PI by spending ~30 minutes every two weeks to PLEX a character. That’s AFK ISK printing right there, but I’m still playing the game (albeit not very much) as it’s a part of the game mechanics.

I’m not even bothering responding to the rest of the post as it came across as trolling by using multiple ‘SJW’ phrases, seemingly aimed to illicit further response to be faux outraged by. I mean, trying to bring sexism into it when we are all unknown people behind arbitrarily gendered avatars is pretty pointless ( nice gif :smiley: )

Thought for the day, while we AFK cloak: which possibility is more terrifying, that Anjyl_Took is a spectacularly persistent troll who is committed beyond belief to their character, or that they genuinely believe the sheer raving lunacy they keep posting?

  1. Standing fleets / Counterdropping
  2. Ratting in PvP fits
  3. Staying aligned and warping out should something decloak
  4. Looking at Killboard activity to guess the active timeframe of the player

These are just off the top of my head. If you use the search function a little and perhaps also search the old forums, you’ll find plenty more.

You can communicate much faster with voice comms in case you spot a hostile, etc. And using zkill and other sources you can learn about your camper. Is he a solo hunter, when does he tend to hunt, etc.

Actually yes amongst many other things. Some of the most (in)famous scams and double-crosses will have been planned this way. It’s this kind of thing that sets EvE apart from all other MMO’s, and one of the reasons why I love the game.

Yes, and this is partly my point. While I fully agree it is playing the meta-game, it is not playing the game, it is not “playing EvE”. And this is not my opinion, if you read the EULA you will see that this does not fit the legal use of “playing the game/EvE”, as used by CCP in the EULA.

Many ideas of what “playing EvE” means are explicitly excluded by the EULA as “playing the game/EvE.” Personally I think this example is more “playing” than AFKing, but this isn’t a case of my opinion or your opinion. If someone is claiming some sort of right, as people here are, then it needs to be established.

And regarding the psy-ops aspect of AFK cloaking, as I already pointed out in the regard of stopping nullbear farmers in general, that can be done with ATK cloaking and 3-4 players working in shifts. It takes more effort and has a higher cost (which I think are good things) but you can still meet your end goal. Now if the argument is “I want to meet my end goal with the least effort and cost”, that’s a whole different argument.

Firstly excuse me if I’m not so coherent as I’m on strong painkillers right now, so just go with the general gist of what follows :smiley:

It is not cloaks that you have a problem with, even if used AFK. It is the ability for someone to uncloak and use a cyno. Even then if you are ATK and aligned you will still escape. The cloak is not the problem (IMO), but rather the psychology of the ratter believing they should be 100% safe.

The problem with changing cloaks because of a single use case(AFK) is that this impacts every other ATK use case. This would clearly be wrong.
