Make 1.0 systems Totally Safe :)

I dont see the point of moving the tutorial missions to a new region with no PVP. I mean it isnt people doing tutorial missions that are at risk of gank?

So all this work they did, basically changes nothing. Its kind of funny how they pull things like that off. Do a bunch of work that basically adds nothing to the game. Every single time. Peace

This Prismaticite content they released last expansion, its extremely convoluted, i mean they spent so much time on it with reactions and everything. But it basically completely dead content.

They could just have added Prismaticite like a normal Asteroid, maybe it spawns rarely in High-sec, and more frequent in Null etc. And all it does is give random reprococesing yield. There was no reason to make the mechanic so detailed and convoluted  But whatever

People doing tutorial missions are not at a risk of being ganked. New players in rookie systems are off-limits by rookie griefing rules and have been for many years.

The introduction of Exordium doesn’t change that, it merely changes the situation to one that’s much clearer for everyone and mechanically enforced instead of relying on reports and manual work to check and ban people breaking rookie griefing rules.

People never were allowed to gank rookies while they did their tutorial missions.

This now is clear to the rookies as well.

But they were still able to anyway. That’s the change with Exordium. That will no longer be possible.

‘Able’ is not all that relevant if doing so meant you got banned.

Right, people tell that Exordium was not introduced because of actual newbie ganking problems, but because newbies avoided to start playing EVE because they think that this game notoriously ganks newbies.

At least somehow along that line is the justification for Exordium now.

But i wonder what good will it do? If someone needs to have that “psychological safety”, will he/she/they be the right target audience for EVE anyway? I mean the main game after those 4 weeks still hits you left and right and back again if you do stupid things. There is no difference to before Exordium was introduced.

Besides additional clarity of how rookies perceive their safety, Exordium also does a couple of other things:

  • spawns two new friends stsrting togethet in the same region even if one picks Amarr and the other Gallente. Big improvement.
  • Exordium 1.0 system explanation and that of 0.9 snd below make it exolicitly clear that ‘high sec’ is not safe and that suicide attacks exist in HS. A nice improvement to clarity
  • brings focus to new players. Instead of being overwhelmed with a huge game where it’s unclear whether all these game mechanics are also meant for new players or not is great. I like such tutorial areas in other games and think it makes it easier for new players to learn the basics.

Sounds nice in theory, but we both know what’s going to happen. New player starts the game, chooses to skip the tutorial, gets overwhelmed, dies, complains, quits. That’s not going to change. Has absolutely nothing to do with EVE or it’s gameplay, it’s the generation of gamers we’re dealing with now…

The goal isn’t to retain 100% of the new players, but to help a few more than before.

People who skip tutorials and then complain and quit aren’t a good addition to the game anyway whatever new player experience the game offers them.

All valid points, but let’s not forget that this thread is not about newbies but a veteran from at least 2018 who demands a safe space to be introduced for mining and other purposes.

Which i completely reject for obvious reasons. And that is what will be interesting in how CCP/FC will handle it in Exordium.

People will try and do it without question until the consequences are clearly announced and applied. Otherwise no one will stop doing it. I mean they are at it right now. The belts are full with miners who are no newbies.

Make the ore even more utterly worthless.

Newbies doing tutorial missions rarely complained about getting ganked when doing so. It is the people who decide to sub and spend time on the game that are at risk of ganking. And for these people, exordium is pointless in its current state. Devs basically did a good job alienating these people and fixing a problem for newbies that didnt even exist :victory_hand:

I think you mean, taking away their arguments that new players get ganked, and reinforcing the fact that ganking is a valid form of gameplay. If you notice, there have been less ganking is bad threads being made, as it is all centered around all these Exordium threads instead.

The problem for Newbies was that they heard the boogy stories about new players being ganked and it kept people away…there are already a bunch of people who are planning on playing on the 9th lining up

OK, And? That’s not a lot of ganks honestly, I would have expected more. Mostly haulers and battleships.

If only someone had tried to say something

nobody actually cares what you have to say baxter..

These tears are so fun to read!

The only one who should be complaining about Exortium is the one person I’ve barely seen in these threads. She has an actual stake in this.

She does not, because she already wasn’t ganking newbies. Hardly anyone was, because it gets you banned right quick. CCP themselves have stated outright that ganking isn’t why newbies quit, hardly any of them ever get ganked, they mostly quit after their first hour playing the game.
