How about forbidding ganks, even gatecamps in hs completely? Anybody who lingers more than 5 min at a gate is logged out automatic and has to wait for 15 min before being able to relogg, certainly accountwide, not just for the char and his ip is even more not able to log in another account for 30 min. Would be the only good thing needed to make the game better…..All the other things you said: How about….hm….no? The game is still WAY too harsh , it needs to be easier and even MORE conviniend to attract more players.
You mean like losing 245bn in a shuttle ?
How about you actually undock……as it seems the game is SO harsh that you haven’t lost anything at all. It’s the big button at the top right marked ‘UNDOCK’.
The reality is that gankers lose about 0.5 security status for every 3 ganks. Going around as status -10 is actually not all that convenient. So, to regain security status means clone tags, and they are 40-60m per tag depending where you buy them. On top of that is a 6m ISK ‘Concord Fee’. So we’re talking 50m-ish ISK….just to regain 0.5 of security status. So that’s an extra 17m or so per gank, on top of whatever the Catalyst cost.
For a fleet of 5….that’s an extra 85m per gank. Add on the fact that any target may only drop 50% as loot, and the old myth about gankers just flying ‘cheap Catalysts’ ( I flew T2 fitted, which are 16m or so each to fit…add that cost on too ) to gank 100m ISK barges and run off with bags of loot is just that…a myth.
Most people are blissfully oblivious of the true cost of ganking.
300m Hulk vs 85m gank squad.
Money should always be the only factor in Eve.
And the rest. The cost of the Catalysts themselves is at least another 25m even with cheapest T1s. We’re talking over 100m…..to gank a ship where all you get in loot is perhaps half the modules and not the ship itself, so loot may indeed be less than 100m.
Ganking miners really isn’t all that lucrative. When I did it for AO10, we were paid to do it…..the purpose wasn’t loot but scaring off rival corps. I’d imagine that mission runners and haulers are by far the largest part of ganking income.
Yeah. The loot drops are so funny. Seems, The loot fairy always trolls the suicide gankers. It appears that the loot fairy is on the miners side.
Nah. It is a factor…..as clearly one can’t afford to keep losing ships if one can’t afford to replace them. But the notion that one should only ever attack something where there’s profit is absurd, and runs counter to enjoyable PvP.
