Make Marauders Great Again (MMGA)

it’s very easy to tell from the killmail if they were, or were not, using input broadcasting.

Ive seen a few posts bout this. I think the issue is people who gank in HS have real no punishment… 15 Catas cost 1mil each and they get Trillions in kills. Than they remake character or who cares they are low security. I think what people want is something that deters that. But remaking new character so they essentially reset the punishment regardless.

No real answer unless they make Gate turrets in HS shoot faster

We want some defence against gankers, that’s why the tank buff was introduced in the first place.
It was a measure to counter-balance gankers multibox over-power, and
protect our most valuable ships, that most solo players, actively use.
And proposing to add a couple of launchers to a Varghy, Kronos or Paladin, is just another idea
to give a little more defence capability against these gankers. They would be little to no use otherwise, saving a couple of secs in a mission is irrelevant, really.
Even add 2 slots for Defenders missiles only would be a great addiction to me.
They would be useless against gankers but would add a little variety…
Only the Buffer tank can make a difference against them…
The Golem should get no more lows in my opinion, it is fine as is really with the mids.
I see the mids much more important bc it is shield based, and webs, Tp, Ab, are all mid slots…

I would like to change or include instead the grappler in the miriad webs bonuses, simply
including them in the webs category, so drugs and boosters could benefit them also.

There’s a lot of pirate ships, even the new Deathless ships are built differently,
with multiple attack systems in mind…

Maybe a new Marauder sub category could born… or just new Navy ships but that could fit T1 bastions?
Give all current Marauders back the shield/armor extension would be good enough, maybe make a bastion T1 and T2 variants, the T2 variant 30 secs, and restrict its use to the old Marauders line.
Give the shield extension bonus to the bastion module, so the T2 bonus would be greater than the T1 version. Nerf the T1 bastion a little bit so that if used by Navy ships or Black Ops (…) these would not risk to be better than Marauders…

Of these ships only the Rock and Abaddon doesn’t have a Navy version, otherwise they could be just adjusted a bit. In alternative to Rock and Abaddon, Scorpion and Apocs, but Scorpion would be better with 4 Missiles and 2 guns…

Rock > T2 4 Hybrid, 2 Missiles, + 1 other bonus, like web range , 4% shield, bastion T1

Typhoon > T2 3 Missiles, 3 guns, +1 other bonus, TP, 10% speed and agility, bastion T1

Abaddon > T2 4 Guns, 2 missiles, +1 other bonus, like web range, 4% armor, bastion T1

Dominix > T2 4 Guns, 2 missiles, 4 big drones, +1 bonus like TP, drones hits, bastion T1

Knowledge, Effort and Cooperation are your defence against gankers and they are more than sufficient.

I have a Missionrunner Alt that flies the Paladin in Amarr space, the Golem in Caldari Space, the Kronos in Gallente Space and the Vargur in Minmatar space. For years. I have done thousands of missions over time. My standings are +10 with all the Corps I fly for and now guess what, Number of Marauders lost: ZERO.

I fly all the 4 Epic Arcs roughly every 3 months, in a Marauder, thats probably hundreds of Jumps through the various areas of HS. Number of Marauders lost: ZERO.

Stop that myth about the unstoppable gankers, the inevitable loss that awaits everyone who undocks anything. It’s not true. And if you can’t stand the downsides of a marauder (expensive, slow, sometimes stationary), then use another ship. It’s not like you are forced to use a Marauder for L4 or Anomalies or anything else in HS.

So it doesn’t matter to you, why do you care in the first place?
Do you run also an Alt in POCHVEN?
I care because I have been ganked multiple times in many Marauders, and the only time
I survived, was when finally, after years of asking for some better tank for Marauders,
the tank buff was implemented.
You never was ganked, why do you care?

Because you want to change the game that I like. I don’t want it to be changed in your way, because there is no need to. And I like it how it is. Especially not if these changes are pushed for by people that still have so much to learn and clearly lack the understanding of how things (ships, ganking, tactics etc…) work. So, if you make such a suggestion, I will come in and argue against it, just in case you get the impression you somehow have some “silent support” for your idea. I am not in favor of your idea, and I will not be silent about that.

These changes are what I fight for instead. You are welcome.

The Marauder buff made thousands of people happy Capsuleers.
I had sold all of my Marauders after the last gank.
When the change came, I bought back immediately a Vargur, and
after a while, a Golem. I lost two other Golems, but I immediately bought them back.
The third time I survived the gank.
Now I am creating SKINR for my Marauders, bc I love flying them.
Like me there are thousands of Capsuleers that feel the same but
they just don’t express their feelings.

The vibe towards Marauders changed positively when the buff came,
and everyone noticed it. They invested more of their time in Eve.
I also love Eve, and I want every change to be for the good.

It happened that Incursions had shifted their preferences towards
Marauders also after the change, and I never partecipated in one.
I only used my Vindicator for two three days after I lost my last
Golem because I was broke and needed some isk to buy back
a new BS that could run LV4s.
Was this buff good or bad for Incursions Idk… same with Pochven…
never been there… so don’t stay silent, have yours. I’ll have mine too.

The last one was in 2022. Now I fully grant you that you may have alts which have lost more Marauders. If these fits are anything to go by, I’m not surprised you lose them.

By the topics he creates one can clearly see that he has much to learn when it comes to ship fitting and ship usage. Thats why most suggestions going back to his “problems” in the game aren’t an issue of game balance that needs to be adressed by the Devs, but an issue of his own personal skill to actually use the tools the game offers. That includes ships and modules, but also tactics, the map and public available third-party websites. We can summarize that all of his problems simply disappear by just “getting better at the game”. Maybe he should simply admit to himself, that he is not really ready to fly a Marauder yet. But the fewest people can, because that would require some self reflection.

Irelevant now anyway, I stopped playing and sent my toons to the grinder.

It was so my ehp couldn’t be accurately calculated to just tornado it. I was fine with gankers “coming to get me.”

I’m not sure what tank buff you’re referring to but it sounds like marauders have had more tank added since I left the game. I should note the video I posted is an active tank. Fit the ship to it’s bonuses.

But why? Might I suggest a Tac dessy?
I managed it in less than three hours and that’s far from a fine tuned fitting.

As the end-all be-all of battleships, I don’t see why Marauders can’t lock more targets (to the max) without a module. This is a simple QoL suggestion. Slot reassignment on the Paladin and Golem isn’t a nerf or a buff (just brings them in-line with the other 2 Marauders).

This goes back a month or two and I don’t have it anymore. But I did view the killmail at the time and he was definitely ganked - and he did show me the email from CCP reimbursing his loss as a result of input broadcasting/macro.

I am not talking about the SoE Level1 Arc. Thats best to fly in a Pacifier or Crusader, you can get below 2 hours here.

The L4 factional Epic Arcs require some firepower to do them quickly, and Marauders excel in that. T3’s, FactionBS or Commandships also work, but are often significantly slower.

They aren’t though… there are very few ships in eve that are the “end all be all” of anything.

Can you explain in first principles how that follows from what I said?
