Yes, but that can be an OPTION if you put it that way, since the game is at its core PVP game there should be options for players to just make some quick pvp instead of roaming around for hours for a few fights.
And don’t worry, Eve has plenty of diversity in ships that can offer good content and plenty of balance. And balancing comes out of isk limits and class limits, abyssals do not have that.
There must be a way besides the repetitive pve so that people can blow up steam in a quick fashion. Why do you think League of Legends became so popular and had way more players than Dota ever had? Because games were way quicker and simple, not to mention countless other games in witch quick content is vastly more appreciated than long boring routines.
As I stated, an OPTION, Diversity, quick content (in pvp),
There are very few games that offer quick PVE content, just like EVE, the pve content is the same every time with little to no player interaction. Eve doesn’t have a fantasy story that keeps the PVE world running, PVE in Eve is just for sandbox and grinding uses.
On the other hand the PVP could really use a quicker way to get action, since, it’s the main thing that keeps this game running, why should I have to wait for fleets to go out? why should I get my friends/or solo and roam around for hours for a few fights, everyone everywhere in this game is looking for FIGHTS, why not hand them on a silver platter?
Regardless of limitation it will come to the same rock-paper-scissors meta with very few viable setups where you either have overwhelming odds of winning against one or horribly lose against another one. Exactly like in Abyssal PvP.
Welcome to FW. It needs more players.
Exactly, because they have no consequences between the games outside of “MMR” . And EvE is exact opposite - every your choice or battle comes with consequences and are funded out of one’s wallet. Also its not like CCP didnt try to make “quick PvP” a thing, but both their projects (Dust 514 and Project Valkyrie) failed.
Anyway if you have a suggestion, i think there is a better venue for it: Player Features & Ideas - EVE Online Forums
lets return to discussing March changes that were much needed and long overdue.
Can we have standings extractors for our alphas that can use L4 and L5 agents ?
Do you know why this is the case?
Go take a look into any of the threads where CCP talked about Burner missions or updating the mission system. Every time they do, a vocal chunk of the missioning community screams. They want new missions added, but only if they’re just like the ones they like. Well, which ones do they like? They don’t agree.
Get rid of the ones they don’t like!
Which ones are those?
NO NOT THOSE I LIKE THOSE… no matter which ones you pick.
What if we just update mission AI to make it more interactive and interesting?
OH MY GOD NO DON’T SLOW DOWN HOW FAST I CAN DO THESE!!!
They can’t touch missions without a huge amount of blowback, and they’re not going to invest major effort into adding more into a system that’s been outdated for nearly 15 years if they can’t do it as part of a major overhaul. So why isn’t there mission-content being developed? Because mission-runners, that’s why.
and now the launcher again shows 2 times the same ad … in addition to Falcon’s face… As if one of the two wasn’t enough to annoy people already.
It’s just the latest post in the ‘news’ feed. They should probably considers splitting out the store announcements into a different sub-heading, though.
Well, burner missions did not turn out to be what CCP advertised them as. Once you have the right fittings, you can farm them just as easily as other L4 missions and get a lot more rewards for it.
As for the rework of the mission system: CCP has not shown any competence whatsoever in providing a better PVE experience with Trig space or events. I am not looking forward to any CCP dev working on missions of a new kind. Dread Pirate Scarlet was one of the last few missions they introduced and it received a lot of positive feedback and love. That’s the kind of missions CCP should continue to create. No one needs rubbish like trig space or whatever that causes nothing but constant trouble and frustration when all you want to do is enjoy some PVE and make some ISK.
There is not even any logical reason why you would want to remove any mission. People constantly complain that there is not enough variety. Instead of removing missions, CCP should add more missions into the pools.
Speaking of trig space. I wonder how terrible its usage is these days.
Why even have a separate news item for that? The useless text in that item fits very well on the offer page for PLEX sales. And this time it is even the very identical page shown twice. I do not care where this comes from. The launcher shows ads and pushes actually useful information out of view unless you cover your entire screen with the launcher. @CCP_Avalon said that new launcher rubbish would not show more ads in the cards and that statement lasted 4 days before the first ad duplicate was shown.
CCP wrecked my game play when they changed crime watch. Then they wrecked it again when they added jump fatigue. Its been a slow bleed since then. Alphas just poured gas on a smoldering fire. So yea, I really am not worried about alphas going away.
The reason people want the missions they don’t like removed (and object to new missions that aren’t exactly like the ones we like but different) is because the larger the pool to choose from, the lower the odds of getting the missions they like. Hard to avoid that with a random pool.
So, no, a lot of the complaints CCP hears whenever they talk about missions… is too much variety.
Because they do a news item every time new SKINs go on sale.
I’ve heard you state before that people are complaining about “too many” choices of missions.
I’m sorry, but every one of my fellow mission runners I’ve managed to talk to over the years has never said there was too many options for them. Could it be you are talking amongst a circle of null sec alts looking to min/max their gameplay? I keep hearing this refrain from both the devs and the people in power (nullsec), yet the people in HS and LS I ( and my friends) talk to have a complete 180 degree different opinion. I heard this refrain during the HS PvE roundtable a couple years ago, ditto when they introduced Faction Wars when the HS community loudly stated that this was not what they were asking for.
I feel this is another example of the echo chamber effect that EVE dev has been under for years; that the same group of devs and power players approach a concern from the same view and that they tend to reinforce what approaches are attempted. Not trying to start up this argument again, but I’m truly trying to understand where this “too many mission options” claim is coming from. All the people I have been talking with want variation, not stagnation.; enjoyment, not min/max isk generation. I wish I could run into one of these " too many options" people and have a calm debate, but I found that in all my previous discussions they are loathe to see any other side than their own. They appear unwilling to understand that some people are playing a different aspect of EVE, approaching the game from different perspectives and directions. When a respected null sec entity ask for or suggest a new aspect for EVE, I sit up and pay attention to what and why they are doing so, even if I may never be directly affected by it. Why can they not appear to do the same with us?
I don’t talk to NS pilots about missions. I watched what happened to Jin’taan and the CCP devs, repeatedly, for years, on these forums whenever there was discussion about it. And that came from self-identified HS mission runners who were busy accusing CCP’s wanting to make changes like updating the AI and otherwise making missions more engaging of being ‘catering to nullsec’.
That is a concern that should be ignored outright. If you want a-la-carte PVE, go to sov null sec. People who suggest that kind of cherrypicking are not in their right mind and the worst members of the community. If CCP wanted to make some concessions to these lunatics, they could reduce the penalties for declining missions repeatedly, and/or make the penalty depending on what missions is being declined: Decline a Recon 1/3? Well, it’s just info gathering and can wait a bit. Here’s your slap on the wrist. Decline a Blockade? Jeez, do you want all of us to die in the next hour? Go back to L1, you heretic! (exaggerated)
You could also have new agents around incursions or FOB systems which offer new missions from the experimental new mission system. This way people can test new mechanics in a meaningful way, useless mechanics like FOBs become a useful and less annoying feature, and mission runners who do not want to try or be subjected to new and potentially frustrating things remain largely unaffected from changes.
There are ways to accommodate lots of different opinions and points of views. But I guess it comes down to what you said earlier: a comprehensive vision is needed.
I hear you when you mention the apparent lack of a comprehensive vision for EVE.
I’m beginning to get the feeling you have when you are following a little used wilderness road, tolerating the bumpy ride so that you can enjoy some awesome scenery, then you come around the bend and the road just peters out into a wilderness with no apparent path forward.
I’m curious if people are actually dumb enough to unironically think this.
CCP is telling me i cant finish my Epic Arc, because of these changes (i’m an Alpha Clone).
Imagine 20 bots flying Epic Arc every 90 days, what a huge damage they will do to the economy Oo
As some1 allready mentioned, i guess for bad low sec systems with less anomalies, its hard to keep the military index.
I’m intrigued by the nerf to anoms mixed with carrier nerfs mixed with dreads not being nerfed like HAW titans.
Can you make dreads more applicable to anom PVE? I wish dreads had a role in PVE. I’d have use for actually flying mine because they’re not that useful against structures with a damage cap.
Bug that I believe was introduced between 11-14th of March.
- Customs Office submenu in the Planetary Interaction window gives you the option “Scoop to cargo hold”. Considering that a deployed Customs Office is 100.000.000m3, I don’t think this was an intended feature.
Picture below added for proof

This.
Making changes which make the game more difficult and more grind to high and null players (the largest demographics) is going to illicit the opinion from all players that “i’ll unsub and resub when they’ve figured out what they’re doing, things are a mess at the moment.”
I wonder what the critical level of subscriptions is to trigger a complete fail-cascade…
“You are about to enter a world of piracy and capitalism” … except you have to buy the capitalism, and the pirates take 30 mins to respawn.
Here’s my two cents on the recent changes to Alpha accounts and Lv4 mission running, for what it’s worth. My apologies in advance if I head into 3+ cent territory.
In my case, CCP’s marketing strategy of opening up Alpha accounts to battleships and Lv4 missions worked! After an 8+ year hiatus, it brought me back into the game enough that I re-subbed for 7 months. Enjoyed working my way back up to a Kronos after having given away my original. Had a lot of fun with the new Abyss content when it came out. The Abyss and Drone events were a blast. Then the events afterwards were a letdown. Figured I’d go back to Alpha and wait for a reason to give CCP more money, mission running in a Machariel, which was still fun. Christmas rolls around, and not only was the event a chore, but it felt grinch-like. This was the holidays, at least be as generous, or more, as the Drone or Abyss events! Ah well… Mission running and Abyss still giving me a reason to log in and await a reason to spring on a sub. March update arrives, click on Lv4 agent, big tacky pop up demanding money, wtf!?! No other content I can think of does this. It’s usually subtle like Omega skills and Omega T2 ships, not in-yer-face content hostage taking.
CCP should prioritize adding to existing content that has kept EVE going for the last 15 years, and create new content nobody seems to care about when staff has really nothing else better to do. And make MOAR FUN events, not grindy chores. Listen to the community.
Anyways, I’m not bitter. I can’t say if my story is a norm, but I’m just trying to show that marketing to Alphas worked at least once. I just don’t understand the strategy… Most online games try to expand population, which leads to more exposure, and in theory more revenue. This last update seems defeatist, like an acknowledgement that more people will not join the game, and might as well try to wring every last bit of income possible from the existing population.
But I will still log in for the Abyss, but probably less frequently, waiting, and waiting, for a reason to drop more money into EVE.
I have to say, thank you CCP for those changes. The inflation in game was slowly killing everything with no sign of stopping. So what, they made the respawn times on anomalies longer? back in 2011, there weren’t ANY Anomalies and the game was as healthy as ever. Anomalies give you an easy way to bot, so this solution hit two birds with one stone: the inflation (and plex price) and the majority of the bots. Also, it prevents that you can use only a couple of systems to house multiple thousands of players in, you actually need an appropriate amount of space again.
