Mining Claims

Mining Claims (aka: actual Mining Permits). Should results in lots of shenanigans for botting fleets…

• “Claims” are actually a deployable. Fixed cost of 25m ISK, NPC sell orders (fixed ISK sink). Applicable to player corporations only with a limit of one Mining Claim per corporation deployable at any time. “Claims” can be abandoned at any time with a 15-minute cooldown timer before deploying another “Claim”.
• High-sec only, only deployable in asteroid belts. Deploys a 25km bubble that “claims” all asteroids within that radius as owned by that corporation and prevents warp-out.
• “Claims” are invulnerable, cannot be scooped and expire automatically after 4 hours.
• Attempts to mine “claimed” asteroids results in immediate suspect status.

Seems like a good idea…until someone wades into your “claim” with an 800k EHP mining Rokh…

That’s the spirit! (and totally the idea behind this) If you can’t “stake” or “defend” your claim - you lose it. Would absolutely wreak havoc with mining bots…

A few additional thoughts:

• “Claims” are only deployable by player-owned corporations (so NPC corporations and individuals can’t deploy these).
• With a limit of one (1) “claim” deployable at any given time per corporation, you can’t lock down large swaths of asteroid belts.
• Makes the more valuable belts eligible to fight over (and defend).
• Creates more engaging content.

I’d just fire up my 18 km/s Vagabond or Machariel and play space pinball with them until I got bored or they gave up and logged out. Either way, it would be entertaining…

Trying to limit it to one per corp highlights you gross lack of understanding how this game functions…

Prevents only warp out or also warp in? If only the former, it would be a godsend for gankers.

There has to be some kind of trade-off, otherwise you would be mining in perfect safety, and that simply shouldn’t be a thing…

Yep, this arbitrary limit doesn’t function in either direction.

“Only one per corp” is pretty annoying for larger corporations that have multiple miners.
“Only one per corp” is also easily circumvented by a player by creating multiple corps for their miners.

I don’t see what this is supposed to accomplish, is annoying yet easily circumvented. Why this limit?

I wish people would put a bit more thought into suggestions before sharing it with others.

EVE should be less annoying not more

Naw, there are enough ways that miners get messed with. A mining permit would just be painting a target on that belt. I am not seeing any upside to this idea.

The only thing this would be useful for is for staking a claim and placing a bubble around your own corp’s Athanor moon mining field. If someone who is not in your corp or alliance enters that field and starts mining, they go suspect. For publicly available, static asteroid belts, however, it’s a non-starter. Either way I’m still punting your AFK Orca into the shadow realm…

That’s true but tackling yourself in a 25 km bubble for high sec asteroids (which are inherently worth much less than LS/NS/WS asteroids), even on moons, sounds like a really poor business plan.

I just want to make sure everyone in this thread understands this isn’t something the miners would use. There seems to be some confusion
