While I like this proposal, it’ll turn off all players who mine semi-AFK. Maybe make the mini-game optional, so if you choose to complete it, your isk/hr increases tremendously.
The solution is easy, make all asteroids “blind” i.e, All Arkanor shows as “Arkanor” on the local window, but when scanned by a mining scanner they show in the scanning window as the “15% / 10% / 5% / Plain” versions. In addition to this, also make 50% of total rocks in belt the unrefineable mining mission ore (i.e. Arkanor = Polygypsum). That way if you botting, you end up with half a hold of junk.
I’m actually a level 4 Orca pilot plus I have another tune running a Procurer my rules always been never to mine away from keyboard fleet of catalyst about none of them about 2 years ago when I first was able to fly a orca I walked away from keyboard for a couple minutes to go get something out of the kitchen I walked back there and structure on my ship so yeah you learn the hard way I think they need to add additional skills no I think people just need to learn to use common sense

I’m really proud of all the miners on this thread who are thinking constructively of ways to make mining more interesting and less exploitable by illegal bots!
I mean if we were to put an anti AFK thing where you had to like character will pop up on the screen you had to match them with another what’s another thing that popped up giving you different options to make sure you’re still there but I think we could also do that with cloaky campers just be cloaked up in a system sitting there basically whether they’re at the keyboard or not
I have an idea. We let this mining crap happen and in exchange bumping is entirely removed from the game. Then the CODE people suggesting these changes won’t be able to gank freighters to fund themselves anymore. They might have to go play tetris to mine for isk instead. Alternatively freighters and industrials could just have their ehp buffed by about 300% and mining barges by 1000% instead. One high quality garbage idea deserves another.

Use your brain when you’re flying in freighter use your brain when you’re mining if you’re flying something really expensive you should have asked out at least three jumps ahead of you if there’s any pirates in system before you get there doc the hell up before you get there we know this how because we used Scout out it’s called you set a cheap mining barge World Venture ahead of you I have no problem with code or any other ganking group because it called fly smart and yes it’s a hard concept for a new pilot I took my losses my killboard I have more losses than kills take my advice use a scout you won’t lose a freighter or anything big again I’m not saying it’s not going to happen occasionally because they’re going to be them cloaky campers you just can’t avoid but did you fly relatively smart there’s a 97% chance you come out on the other side of live

Being a miner myself, one mining account, never mining afk, and being also an industrialist, I came to this conclusion:
Yes, mining is one of the most boring thing in Eve and that’s why a lot of people use bots or mine afk in HS with a second account while they pve or pvp with their main account….
Now, just immagine it becomes impossible for bots to mine or impossible to mine afk. In no time, we might have a shortage of minerals on the market which will transform quickly in a shortage of modules. Prices will skyrocket and people will have way more difficulty to replace their losses…
It could make people leave Eve, and with a game less and less crowded, it might be the end of the game….
So there are no easy answers… The solution would be to make mining attractive, so we’ll have way more regular miners. You would think that with higher ore prices , it will attract more people in mining but this activity will still remain passive and boring so not sure people will switch to mining

Um solo barge mining itself should be a semi-afk task… It has the worst Isk/Hour in eve. However Mining is one of those activities that Risk VS Reward plays a very large part. Procurer is safe, however it gets the worst isk an hour. Retriever is not so safe but gets better isk an hour due to the ore hold being bigger (less time warping to station). Covetor is a fleet barge and is all but useless without an orca. However with orca support the Covetor is the best t1 fleet barge isk/Hour wise and the least safe, and to keep your isk/Hour up you need to be watching it. So adding a stupid minigame to mining would make fleet mining unbearable. However Mining drones need a major overhaul again because afk Orcas and Rorquals are the real problem not afk barge miners.
Mining drones don’t need overhauled they need to overhaul the freaking system with Bots I was in a freaking ice field the other day with my Orca in my procure nobody talked. Nobody mining drones are fine the way they are they’ve already Nerf the f*** out of them especially when it comes to high sec
It is a fallacy to say that mining has the “worst” income, and should therefore be easy. In fact, mining has a value set by the players, who decide how much they are willing to pay you to mine. As long as mining is so easy, it will be menial labor. If you want to get paid more to mine, you will need to try harder.
Unfortunately detecting bots is extremely hard, how do you distinguish them from normal alts? Also why should ccp stop the bots that are eating the plex supply? It’s good for them and actual players, plex price goes up so it’s harder to plex the bot fleets, and that means more isk per dollar for people paying for plex. On that same idea people who run more then 1 account might see paying to plex cheaper then actually grinding out the isk to play every month.
Real Money Trading. It’s why most bots exist and why most companies don’t want bots in their game.
