Mining mechanics that don’t encourage botting, massive multiboxing, or being AFK.
It’s also exciting because the ore is special. Even once it is no longer new it will still be special.
But I would not expect a fresh troll account to see that difference.
Deepflow rifts have anti AFK mechanics and nobody seems to like them.
So anti afk, -bot and -multibox mechanics tend to suck for regular players as well.
They’re pretty nice, found one yesterday and got decent ISK out of an activity that is accessible to even the newest of players.
Data and relic sites can’t be done AFK at all, and they’re consistently among the most popular PvE activities (only really abyssals are competing).
Deepflow rifts are boring because they consist of dropping an MTU and hitting F1-3 every ten seconds or whatever. It’s not at all engaging. Turn mining into a minigame like exploration and you kill multiboxing and severely harm botting, which lets you boost output, which makes it more rewarding for solo players. Rather than “guide the virus to the system core” the backstory could be something like “calibrate your mining lasers to the specific ore seam”.
Data and relic sites does not have anti bot, anti afk or anti multibox mechanics
How are you doing relic sites AFK? What benefit are you getting from having five alts in the site with your hacker?
I do agree they can probably be botted, but so can any content.
He isn’t.
He appears to just be here with the intention to provoke people. One of the latest batch of trolls on the forum.
Normally tractor beams auto repeat but this gets disabled in deepflow rifts. Name something similar for data and relic sites.
The minigame.
Have you even done a relic or data site that you ask that question?
The mini game is not an anti afk mechanic
It is impossible to do the minigame while AFK.
Go delete this troll already.
If the mechanic is fun for lack of a better term it’s a fun mechanic
Anti afk mechanics aren’t fun
Anti-AFK mechanics and fun not mutually exclusive.
And your definition is not shared by others.
Anti afk mechanics just have to prevent you from going AFK. That is a low bar to hit and that’s why they aren’t fun.
I scanned one down a few days ago and came close to losing a ship when a fleet of NPC’s spawned.
The trick is to not overfish the rift.
Or maybe someone else did and ran away after the fleet spawned.
The trick is to bring up to three tractor beams and pay attention while you do it to not let it trigger.
People are multiboxing in PVP. So an activity being low APM and risk has little to do with wether people multibox.
Possibly, I think I’d got one container, maybe before I had to run.
