This is awesome - people have no idea what is does or how it does it, but they are Mad…
Why don’t we wait to complain until after we tried it…I know - crazy talk

That’s what you can do with a brain, Ken.
Why doesn’t CCP post the stats of these items so that we can discuss them while we wait for them to fix their stupidity? Crazy talk, right?
Pretty much what he said. But here’s an actual contstructive idea: Mobile Observatories – Live on Singularity - #46 by Alexa_Gainsworth
This all might be true, but i guess now, you MIGHT actually have to be active whhen cloaky camping… ?
all in all, you’re just salty cus you can’t get 1b/week passive income for selling your cloaky alt services while you in school/work.
No, Either you are against AFK cloaky camping - or you are not.
as described by CCP post, this is a 100% afk cloaky camper breaker.
its not thou.
in reality, it’s a mobile deployable unit (with a limited ping range?)
and people will still have to waste time to scan down the entire system? over and over and over again x100 - trying to find a needle in a haystack of ships…
and then you had to be lucky enough to scan a ship down. when its pilot has mismatch the eggtimer vs the mobile ping …
soooo, yeah no, sorry. if the pinged ship aint in the anomaly list, then what’s the point with going with this idea?
i have not seen the stats of the observatory, but I am, as you can see… incredibly sceptical.
atm this all sounds like “lets just give them something so they can be quite, lols”
you don’t know me, that’s why. But it’s a real shame that CSM/ccp discussions TOPICS are not open/transparent… its quite obvious that there are problems being addressed… but they are not addressed from every player’s view, nor would I assume that the ideas really are “optimal” to all or anyone.
TL;DR. there a lot to be improved in the csm/ccp. and this latest “idea” of fluff, is proof of that.
I have kept busy but always remembered CCPs promise to work on this issue
It seems that dedication will finally pay off
I will enjoy eliminating people who try to run and hide via cloaking
However, I will so much more enjoy the fact that endless hours have been spent berating and denigrating anyone who said cloaking should see some changes/counterplay.
And all those hours were spent for NOTHING
Why do they not follow the regular anchoring rules of ‘not on structures’?
And I sure hope this is an oversight? You said lowsec and nullsec?
I have a feeling that would get people spamming these things as a way to cause tidi, especially during fleet fights where bombers are known to be in-system.
Here’s an idea.
Instead of a deployable with a periodic system sweep, make it a new type of probe. You launch the probe, and hit scan for it to perform the sweep. Make it so it’s not system wide as well.
That way the camper won’t know about any timers, but this won’t be a passive counter either.
Better yet, make it so it is a special probe that can only be launched from a T3 with a special subsystem. Maybe a replacement for the nullification subsystem, hmm?!
And as it turns out – surprise, surprise – people being mad is ABSOLUTELY warranted. According to the attributes, you can spam as many of them as you want in a system to make the delay irrelevant. You can even deploy them inside a structure docking radius, like a Keepstar, to make them impossible to kill.
What does Activation Delay mean? Is that the interval for the pulses? So every 10 minutes you need to recloak?
All in all: @Kenneth_Feld @Mike_Azariah Your trust in CCP honors you, but you should eventually start considering not trusting this steaming pile of incompetence anymore. They betray the trust time and again without fail as the posts after the tests demonstrate exactly this.
Very good point. The only way to counter that is just to ban that practice since it would be straight abuse server or limit them to 1 per system.
after cloak you get a buff (screen shot Screenshot by Lightshot) and you can easily refresh it with a macro what is pressing F1 every 15 minutes.
so you avoid beeing decloaked by just pressing F1 to recloak after time.
Timer is way to long.
Why not just deploy that yourself?
To be fair if someone was scripting this I’m sure they have a way to look for a timer notification, script an action to have the player move between predetermined safe points and then just retrigger the cloak.
This is similar to the drone changes IMO, didn’t really hamper the ability for coding to work around the mechanic being introduced. Just making the active player have to pay more attention to multiple clients more actively.
Guys, why i can’t log in into sisi??? i didn’t changed password in last 1 month
That’s fine for regular cloaky campers, but you can’t bait somebody who is AFK. That’s what these are designed to focus on, not the guy who is actively trying to mess with you. There are ways, like baiting, to deal with those guys. No way to deal with the AFK cloaky camper who is just there to stop folks from doing things.
The problem is that your solution doesn’t just impact AFK cloaky campers - it impacts anybody who gets decloaked by this mechanic, and that’s why it goes too far. You think it’s a good idea that somebody moving a super through a hostile area with no structures and gets decloaked by one of these things is suddenly a warp to point on your anomaly scanner? Really?
As Arrendis noted, there’s nothing stopping you from solving all the issues you think are in the game. Post away.
Can they be scooped back up, or are they fire and forget?
This is garbage, they intentionally made it this way to show us they hear our feedback? This need serious tweeks.
So how does it work? If there are 20 of those things does it imply 20 times more often decloak burns?
There’s gotta be either a limit to how many per system, or drawback mechanics.
