Mobile Observatories – Live on Singularity

15 minutes on all cloaks.

Should probably make it so that you can’t deploy these inside ESS bubbles

Just been decloaked by a mobile observatory in a wormhole after approximately 9 1/2 minutes.

I didn’t think that was supposed to happen.

Some bug reports.

The decloak immunity timer remains on screen even if you decloak your ship.

Scan probes are broken , not finding cosmic signatures.

What is the range of the Mobile Observatory’s decloaking ability?

Currently running some tests on the new device.

My current opinion is that these are far too easy to use. A sunesis could potentially carry and drop 9 of them while being essentially immune to interdiction. They should be larger than 100m3 so forethought and team work play a role in the use of this device as well as offer counterplay for active campers to take opportunities on haulers attempting to use these new devices to secure a system.

Likewise, they should be limited on range, not system wide. A system that is 70au across should take more effort and planning to secure than a system that is 4au across.

While I agree that cloaky camping is afk gameplay, it’s also sometimes the only way to create content in systems plagued by bots and very cautious players. As the device is currently, it reduces risk for bots and players that do not interact with the larger community in space ship pews. The above suggestions provides opportunities for both sides of this interaction and may be a better solution.

Broken in so many ways as usual.

Works in Wormholes. Can Place 1 Billion of them in a System, Place inside docking ring.

Good Job CCP; as usual fixing things that don’t need fixing…or better yet fixing them in such a way that doesn’t actually address the issue - how hard do you think it is for a botter to run a script to re-cloak every 15 mins?

Sigh - Just Sigh.

System wide at present

Wow. If only someone had pointed out upthread that j-space is a kind of nullsec for CCP’s code. Oh, wait, someone did.

I feel like it should be pointed out that neither one said ‘trust CCP’, only ‘get the data, THEN complain’.

Right now it’s 10 per system.

There can be only 10, but yes, they each seem to be on their own timers. But, since you get a 15m buff that makes you immune once you recloak, 6-minute intervals (10 observatories) should do fine.

System-wide, as the article says.

As it turns out, waiting for data is not needed to complain factually against anything CCP does. You are always right with complaining. And even after the things got released on Sisi, they don’t contain all the data anyway.

@CCP_Paradox Current on SISI clocking has 15 minutes of clock stabilization.

This gives caps in low sec a chance to be decloaked, with red timer. Is this intentional?

I think it should be 26-30 minutes so this change does not nerf low sec / solo hyper carriers.

After you cloak you get a counter-buff for the observatory 15min which can be easily refresh. This is way too long and could too easily be refreshed with a keyboard script. A cooldown would fix that, i guess.

Also, the combat probes are broken and did not find any ship cloaked or uncloaked.

I came across several errors in testing.

The structure is too expensive to manufacture to be disposable.

The effect of this structure is transient the maximum number of cycles is around 6 (and there were 5 in the system)

Suggestions for improvement:
I think it would be far more useful if the observatory had visible cycles. And there would be no protection. the active player has a chance to cloack again when unmasked. I don’t see a reason for 15 minutes of safety.

Another suggestion is to make this structure permanent or collapsible. By consuming, for example, Liquid Ozone,

CCPlease don’t ■■■■ up EVERY ANTI-GATECAMP ITEM IN THE GAME!
First nullification and stabs, now cloaking, WTF will it be next?! +500% Align time!?

Although I fly cloaked ships ofter,

I actually think this is a good feature however.

IMPLEMENT IT FAIRLY
Immune for 30 minutes if long enough for someone to nab afk in a real life emegency and return to the game if they have a combat timer. I think that’s fair as this is designed to counter cloaky campers.

The faster they ping the lower the chance of decloaking should be.

One ping every 2 minutes is far overkill for trying to decloak someone who sits in systems for hours cloaked

I think one ping every 20 minutes is far because if they want to spam them in systems they can still bring that down to 2 minutes, which really defeats the point of using a cloak at all. Might as well remove it from the game at that point.

30 minutes - Immune
1 hour - 10% chance of decloak maybe 20% depending on how often they can ping
2 hours - reduced to like 75% chance of decloak
3 hours - reduced to 98% chance of decloak

This will beat cloaky campers but is fair to active players, 15-20 minutes is too shot for active players

All in all this could be one of the good changes for the game, unlike the recent warp changes which have all been bad. but it must be implemented AND BE FAIR TO ACTIVE PLAYERS

30 MINUTES OF IMMUNITY

Does this thing not appear on dscan even though it’s on your overview?
