One of the main reasons of an elected member of a council is to be a focal point for the people that they represent to voice their feelings. Like in pretty much everything in life, if you can’t communicate your feelings then you can’t expect them to be taken into account. Information is power so the more information you can get enables you to make better decisions. There is an old saying “It’s better to be roughly right than precisely wrong” Precisely wrong is when you don’t take into account players feelings. Roughly right is when you when you take in and assimilate as much of the feedback as possible.
Absolutely not. 1000 people with the same feelings point towards relevancy. A single person communicating about an aspect of the game is far less likely to be relevant. There may be a situation where a single person has a lightbulb moment and feeds back something monumental. It’s up the CSM to filter through this feedback and determine what’s appropriate given that not every request can be fulfilled.
The CSM should be gathering information regarding player feelings and presenting them proactively. CCP gets feedback/feelings from the forums, Reddit and social media from the players. The CSM gets feedback/feelings from the people they communicate with ingame, many who don’t use the forums etc.
Given that Edmund Burke didn’t play Eve online and his quotes are based on real life observations, Do you think a political party ignores the feelings of their populate and only focusses on “what they may not even realize they need” when they put forward policies? Decisions aren’t based on one or the other, but both including many other factors as well.
The CSM, because they receive feedback/feelings from players via a communication channel that CCP doesn’t have, can and should provide CCP with the “dipstick” of feelings. Given that there may be a plethora of feedback, the CSM can deem the most appropriate (aka biggest bang per buck) feelings to CCP can focus on them rather than be side tracked by irrelevant (in the scheme of things) feedback.
Yes, but it’s on the masses to initiate that communication. From CCP’s own metrics a few years ago, the vast majority of EVE players never even so much as read the forums, voted in the CSM elections, or otherwise indicated any level of awareness of who the CSMs were, much less talked to them.
1000 people with the same feelings points toward demagoguery just as easily, and can have exactly 0 to do with actual problems/solutions for the game. Do you think it’d be difficult to get 1000 members of Horde or Goonswarm to espouse a particular policy position?
Right, so the CSM should be… accosting people in local? Sending out reddit posts with polls that won’t be completely trolled in under 5 minutes? The people you’re saying the CSM should be reaching are the ones who make it really hard to reach them, and the CSM members have far less ability to do so than CCP themselves. The CSM, after all, can’t fire off a ‘hey, tell us about your concerns’ email to literally every active player, after all.
I feel that political parties are full of human beings with ambition and avarice, and that most of them operate based on what they think will be popular so they can get power.
But that doesn’t mean they should. The fact that human beings often fail to live up to Burke’s standards doesn’t make him wrong, it only reflects how often people fail.
Riot sends out surveys to gauge player feelings and opinions about every release they push onto their games, and even about individual champion changes or map adjustments. CCP has built a survey feature into the game that was supposed to be accessible from the Character Selection screen and make surveys much more accessible and reward us for participating. They never used this feature beyond the initial and very creepy psycho analysis survey. If CCP was really interested in player feedback, they would use this feature and not just send out a handful of survey to random people who don’t even play the game.
Null sec and goons destroyed the economy and nul sec is pretty safe for printing isk with your dunk tick ishtar . CCP Rattati just came in and fixed most of the problems just need some more poverty
Goon propaganda Rattati is doing what needs to be done .watch some talking in stations episodes to see the truth .Rattati is like mosses he will deliver all of you to the promise land the golden eve era just need to burn everything to the ground first
Would it not be better if the people who owned the TCU/iHUB just got their cut deposited directly into the wallet rather than adding the additional step of having to send out a bill and wait for payment?
True, though it was not about valume, it was about utility. Look at the balkanisation of the streaming services, it used to just be Neflix, now all the different IP holders are retreating behind their own brand, so on one hand competition is good, on the other, it stinks if you want to watch think from both as the cost is overall higher.
