They’re going to nerf the ■■■■ out of that, aren’t they?
Someone’s going to eat a miner’s anomaly or moon and he’ll snap and threaten to murder Rattytatty’s family and this whole thing is going to be scrapped.
We should form a group and just go around and destroy their belts and moons.
I honestly doubt it’s going to be used much, why put in mining effort when other (pvp) effort is also an option. It would be hilarious though: announce in local you’re going to clean the belts and then have like 10 people completely mess up a whole system.
To feel you’re that unlucky that every cycle you’ll fail the 1 in 3 chance and cause wastage, God that sucks. Or do you just have a chip the size of the world on your shoulder? Or just bad a math and understanding the rules of chance?
Look 20% left is a huge amount. If we scale it down to 500m3 ore left then you have something to work with.
500m3 left in rock
418m3 yield per cycle
418m3 wastage per cycle if you fail a 1 in 3 roll.
So two things 1 in 3 chance is better than head or tails, left hand or right hand chances, which is 50% or 1 in 2 chance.
So back to topic you can either take that roll chance and have a 66.6666% of successfully mining 418m3 of that remaining ore with a 33.333% chance of only getting 72m3 if you fail.
Or you mine the ore and kill the cycle early and still roll the 33.333% roll to ensure you get good yield if you fail.
Look it’s been proven already by others you’d have to be the unluckest bugger out there not to get more ore than you did a say ago over the same time period and that would require you having the worse possible fit and being ganked.
People have posted 8 or more cycle reports showing only one or two failed rolls, but it hasn’t effected the amount they pulled, only what was left in the rock.
So using the 418m3 per cycle over 8 cycles is 3358m3 of ore in cargo, and 1 fail roll 418m3 rock ore removed from rock, 2 failed rolls is only 836m3, but you have still mined 3358m3. You’re still ahead of where you were yesterday and even if you did happen to use 100% failure chance equipment you’d still be mining more than yesterday, but instead of staying on the same rock you’d be moving to the next as you did before the update.
But if you have 1-3 or 2-5 (with t2 b type) you have a chance of getting more ore from a rock than yesterday.
Maths and rules of chances is an interesting topic, shame many eve players don’t know either…
Because this doesn’t cost anything in terms of ganking costs, and trust me when I tell you that this will cause a lot of anger. Probably more anger than even ganking them causes.
Some of the most mean things I’ve ever had directed at me in a video game were said when I beat someone to a resource node in WoW.
I mean, if you want to come back just do it.
When my subs lapse I’ll be moving on I think, but do what you want. I’m bored with the constant rebalancing acts. While you’ll find a predictable few white knighting the changes that keep getting pushed out, but I think they suck.
The game is a state of atrophy currently and I don’t see that reversing. It wasn’t long ago when USTZ primetime would be above 30k, now it hovers around 16-17k. The game isn’t dying, but it is retracting and the relentless nerfs aren’t helping. There’s even a movement on Reddit calling for CCP Rattati to resign because of the direction the game is heading and it has just shy of 800 upvotes. Sadly many are unhappy and it doesn’t look like things will change anytime soon, but don’t let that rain on your parade if you want to come back and fly internet spaceships.
If you’re an active miner, yes. An afk miner or someone who wants to max yield from a belt or system will use A.
And that is part of the reason why people rage: they will have less yield than others (the horror) because they’re afk alts/bots and thats just unfair!
Maybe Type C stuff can be considered as a “mining permit,” with everything else being considered as illegal mining gear contraband for confiscation? Need to talk to Aiko about this.
Actually heavy waste modules making asteroids puff and burst, boil and explode would be cool. If you’re gonna burn their resources, might as well make it hugely obvious and in their face!
