Move Daily Downtime to 23:00 UTC

Hello everyone,

I would like to suggest a possible change to the daily server downtime schedule.

Would it be possible to consider moving the daily downtime to 23:00 UTC?

The current downtime can interrupt active gameplay such as fleet operations, industry, exploration, and other time-sensitive activities. A later downtime could potentially reduce disruption for many players.

I understand that downtime scheduling depends on technical and operational factors, and there may be important reasons for the current timing. This is simply a community suggestion to consider whether an alternative time might be possible.

I would appreciate hearing other players’ thoughts on this idea.

Thank you.

If I remember correctly, the server shard is located in (London?), UK and I’m guessing not having to wake up support staff in the middle of the night if an error occurs is the reason it’s reset in the middle of Gregg sausage rolls enjoyer’s day.

Pretty sure it’s a UK thing (^).

No. This ridiculous topic again. Everyone in the game would like the opportunity to pick the DT schedule. You don’t get to pick it alone! Other players have completely different preferences. Not to mention, there isn’t even a consensus among the players whether DT should occur during waking hours or sleep time. Some want it to be when they’re awake, so that event start and end times would be better understandable.

Most of EVE’s playerbase is in the US or EU. DT is in the middle of work day or during morning hours for most EU. That is, when most of EU players wouldn’t be online anyway. For US, DT is in the middle of the night. Again, when most players wouldn’t be online anyway.

Perfect balance between the playerbase for the two continents. There is no need to change. Not to mention – it’s not your call. Fenris is a company and schedules the DT for when their employees are in the office to do work.

Actually in the u.s. DT is bright ass early. Its 7am for me.

OP id much prefer DT to stay at 11am so while all of FC is awake and alert and in office in case the hamster strikes

DT in the US starts at 3am to at 6 am. Maybe at 7 am with DST. Didn’t factor that in there.

That is – in the middle of the night! Most people are asleep, and if they’re not they’re up to go to work, not to play EVE.

My point was – for both geographical locations DT takes place when most people wouldn’t be playing EVE anyway. Ergo, 11 am UTC is a pretty well-chosen time for it. Satisfactory for most EVE players.

With DST, it’s 4am to 7am in most states. I’m West Coast (sorta) and DT for me is currently 4am.

Except for us insomniacs. :face_with_bags_under_eyes: Still, I like DT right where it is, thanks. Sometimes getting kicked off is just what I need to try falling asleep again.

+1 for keeping it at an appropriate time for when FC to be at work anyways. We don’t need to cater to the minority of EVE’s population that live on the other side of the world from FC.

Same here! Perfect time to move ships while I drink my morning coffee!

Someone has to lose somewhere…

Edit; On a weekend. it’s also the perfect time to launch scouts.
