Client works fine, but crashes outside Jita Trade Hub, unless I set Shader Quality to Medium. This happens both with my eGPU AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT as well as with the built-in dedicated AMD Radeon Pro 5500M. Resolution set to 3840x2160 with 200% UI scaling. I tried running the AMD Radeon Pro 5500M on the internal display as well as the external display, no difference, still crashes.
Mac Mini M1, 16GB RAM
Resolution set to 3840x2160 with 200% UI scaling. Frame rate not ideal at 4K resolution, but dropping down a couple of settings made it perfectly playable. No crashes outside Jita Trade Hub.
Exactly the same as Borkas’ post. I’m at Jita. Undock is just fine, but crashes when trying to get to Jita trade Hub. I get some white(ish) flashes, then a clear view as I near the station. I am then “jumped” backwards an AU or 2, followed by crash to desktop. This happened twice in a row.
Running at 3840x2160 @ 200%. Single built-in Retina display only - I’m in a hotel away from home, but the live version is letting me play just normally.
Haven’t been in long enough to test fully, but I’m seeing 25-30fps at Jita when I normally run at 60 with the Wine version.
Updated - don’t seem to be able to do anything now - every time I relog, I’m automatically warped to the Trade Hub, I get right up to it, then crash out.
Sent it. Through experiments, I found out that such artifacts appear only at certain camera angles (I cannot understand the pattern yet)
UPD: found problems with rendering the character in the Character sheet and with rendering the ship in the Fitting window (there are no models on any settings). Also sent bug reports
I’ll draw up a more detailed account later, when I have time for some extended flying around. but these first impressions may already be useful:
switching to windowed mode on a MBP with retina screen + external non-retina 32” (3840x2160) monitor = confusion. I normally play EVE in a 2560x1440 window, which the native Mac client displays at half that size on the external monitor.
After some fiddling with ingame resolutions and UI scale percentages I settled for 2560x1440 fullscreen; unlike WINE the Mac client lets me switch desktops, so that’s not really an issue. It’s fuzzy ofc, but putting more load on my old GPU would only turn EVE into a slideshow.
all graphics settings were maxed out by default. It’s pretty trippy — everything renders in shades of blue and magenta… I’ll send in a screenshot with the ingame tool later (note: due to the above issue it’s going to be a 6720x3780 whopper…
When playing at low-to-medium settings, with no post-processing or anti-aliasing (my usual) things look better. Framerate isn’t much higher (it’s an oldtimer after all), but the UI does feel snappier and more responsive than in the WINE client.
I only took a short flight this time. So far no graphics errors. Keybindings also seem OK, but I’ll have to experiment a little further. Will try playing directly on the built-in screen as well…
Works like a charm. Solid 80-100 fps on 1650x1050, no glitches whatsoever. I did copy my profile settings from a PC to have overview etc available. Higher resolutions had some sort of blurred font in the UI which I did not like - tried a couple of UI scaling factors. Would use this on TQ
So far I am very happy with the performance on my M1 Mac Mini w/ 16GB RAM. This client also seems to draw about a third as much power as the old Wine client! Running with a 4K screen I noticed I got about 50% more FPS by disabling anti-aliasing though, not sure if that was to be expected.
Three bugs so far:
ctrl-clicking to target doesn’t seem to work
Suddenly in space I got a magenta semi-transparent color all over the screen. Changing graphics quality resolved this.
Your bug report was successfully sent and has the ID EBR-222339
I have put a link in there for a video - plus the screenshot from the file
Edit: the modifier keys seem to respond slow, or the screen pop-up is slow to respond. Holding control to lock, or alt/option to look at etc.
Also, a reminder, shift+space is your stop ship command.
M1 MBP 16gb - had three accounts running max settings (I believe) res was 2800x1600 (don’t remember the full res numbers, but know it was in that ball park) FPS dropped to about 20-30. I noticed the heat was bad - ~180 F - but no fan noise.
my feedback
macbook air m1 8gb ram
4x client run fast with perfect 60 fps on high graphics. with 1680x1050 per window. soc loading avg 25-40%
but .i have strange bug with select other client window. i need click + move mouse for control this window(((
p.s i want this on tq now!!! )))))))
Try it again in fullscreen mode on one monitor. I used to have the same issue with the second monitor being blacked out when running fullscreen, but that no longer happens with the new client. I’m able to use everything on my second monitor just fine while running fullscreen on the first one (using an M1 MBA).
(1) I’m on an intel-based mac, and I get a blackscreen upon login. It’s in full-screen mode, so it’s possible that windowed mode would be ok, but hitting “escape” won’t get me out of the blag screen.
(2) More of a SiSi question, but closely related: my password has changed on TQ since the last mirror, and the prior password was only known by the password manager (since changed). So, I can’t get in to SiSi at all on that account. Unfortunately, SiSi is where AT practices are. Any ideas for a work-around?
Some general feedback on windowed mode. Focusing the eve window with the mouse is a little grating. You must click once within the client to activate the window, then wiggle the mouse around within the client to get it to recognize that you are hovering something (e.g. a module), and then it will start recognizing clicks.
In the wine client you could click directly onto a module and it would activate, even if the eve window was unfocused when you did the initial click.
I am using a MacBook Pro with only 2 GB of Video RAM. Four issues I found: 1) The Return to Game button on the settings screen didn’t work; 2) the Reset Graphics Settings button under Display and Graphics didn’t work; 3) the Quit Game button didn’t work (in all three cases, clicking the button did nothing); 3) My character image in both the Neocom and chat windows was just a silhouette.
So dropping the shaders to Medium allowed me to get right up to the Trade Hub and dock. However, that just left me with a black screen and a mouse pointer, even the Menu wouldn’t open.
Quit out, came back in, proceeded as normal with the station loading just fine.
Hello again. Yes, yesterday I was using the mac client, I had already checked first thing after logging in. The issues, apparently, were only inside and outside Jita 4-4. I put the video settings to minimum, went to another system, and maxed them out again and am currently running at around 30-40 FPS @3072x1920. The summer temperatures are not helping much, I think I could get more FPS in a cooler environment. I’ll do more testing and let you know. And I have to check again with an external monitor.
